I'm still wondering if Sony is trying to tempt Marvel into paying top dollar to get Spider-Man -- all of Spider-Man -- back entirely.

I bet most of the characters are Low Tier and very obscured characters.

900 characters, eh?

So are we counting the guy Spidey caries on the cover of AF 15?
Or some random dude named Steve from Web of Spider-man #26?
Or Aunt May's podiatrist?

Like I said, it really reads a lot less like "Hey fans, get excited by our super cool Spidey universe!" and a lot more like Sony trying to upsell the Spidey property so that Marvel/Disney will outright buy back their own stuff at a premium (like, more than they would pay beforehand, both by Sony actually doing projects like Venom that I'm sure makes Disney worried will peripherally damage their own brand and also by trying to make the Spideyverse sound a lot bigger and lucrative than what we know it actually is) rather than contunue to lease it with no actual control.

I've been saying it many times but the only two Marvel properties that could have their own cinematic universe without stretching it would be Spider-Man and X-Men. But come on it's been over a decade since the MCU started and they had plenty of time to get their sh-t together. A Sony cinematic universe with the other properties they used to own before they lost the other properties they owned, I mean they technically could've used characters like Ghost Rider in their Spidey verse but yeah too little too late.

The best we can all hope now is that Venom absolutely bombs so they scrap all the things and decide to sell, I mean isn't Sony pictures doing horrible anyway?
