I am religious, and I don't mind or consider it to be cheapening.

It's that kind of thinking that gives rise to the annual War On Christmas stuff.
But hey, you do you. Just remember when we non-theists make this stuff our own, you brought it on yourselves.

Half and half. Hallebunga. How 'bout that?
Show creators trying to come up with new ones may have to resort to something that like that eventually. lol Is there even anything 'modern' along those lines? Let alone anything they wouldn't sound silly yelling. Let alone use some of the current youth slang... |

I think it would be a cool characteristic, if in a future tmnt version, Michelangelo's creative and artistic side lends to him being interested in not only the world of humans more than his brothers, but also being interested in their religious beliefs and practices.
I wouldn't see the expression of Hallelujah as a catchphrase to be something cheap, but a genuine expression of happiness.

That a corporation can slap on a t-shirt, or a lunch box, and sell at a retail profit.
But I digress. That said, I'm not against religious exploration. Mirage canon had Don do pretty much the same thing.

I still have trouble accepting Michelangelo saying Booyakasha. He's not Ali G, and that character lost its relevancy around 2005-2006 or so.

Well, I'm assuming the Rise crew is going to ignore most of the previous show's innovations. So don't expect him to keep saying it.

It always seemed way too convenient to me that merely touching retro-mutagen ooze (even a small amount of it) with the skin mutates the entire entity in quick fashion. I keep thinking injecting, ingesting, or having it infect an open wound might be necessary for a full transformation.

It does make quite a bit of sense.
And I really think that a "slow" mutation would give a pretty interesting angle to how horrific it is when you really think about it.

I can go either way. I like a fast mutation for dramatic purposes, but slow can be horrific too.

Can you imagine how painful fast mutation would be though?
Since that tends to be the way it's depicted, at least the Turtles were probably too young to remember years later. Feel bad for the version of Yoshi that turns into Splinter though... he'd certainly recall it, and then deal with four unusual babies on top of dealing with his own experience. That's one tough guy. (There are certainly real world substances that are a skin absorption risk.) Although a varying amount having a different degree of influence in some regard would be interesting. Mutating some beings more extremely than others. And how it might play out slightly differently from one individual to the next in general. Possibly also in terms of mental state - *cough* Raph. |

Oh, yeah! And that would probably make his relationship with the turtles all the more intimate, since they've shared the same kind of suffering.
One thing I have realized in the "Splinter was Yoshi's pet" idea is: What if all of the weapons they had on hand were Yoshi's? There's the problem of having to sharpen and maintain the weapons, but at least they wouldn't have to make them from scratch. That would probably even give them more incentive to be more selective with them, given that they'd be considered family heirlooms. Maybe not to the point of TMNT 3 silliness. There's no replacing those particular weapons, so extreme care would be a necessity. So...that would probably mean more knocking out lights, shimmying up a wall...and knocking out a different set of lights . I mostly think of this in my concept where Yoshi was able to actually teach Splinter, due to his participation in TCRI experimentation in mutation. And following his death, Splinter was able to recover a good number of the weapons before going into hiding.

I've considered the possibility regarding the weapons myself on occasion, as that seems to make the most sense. In most cases where Splinter was a pet, it would seem he mutated soon enough after Yoshi's death that his master might not have veen missed tyet, so he could probably go back and get anything he might want or need, including the weapons. If he was Yoshi turned to Splinter, he would have had easy access for as long as he needed.

Yeah, I just realized that myself.
It just makes so much more sense than trying to make their own in a sewer in the middle of New York City.

It would certainly better in-narrative explain why there's only one set of each weapon.

And more weight to 1990 film Raph being upset about losing a sai.
Pre-mutation "Splinter" Menuki (via eBay), anyone? Or are they mice? Either way... I could see them used on a lightly done TMNT themed sword. Last edited by IndigoErth; 05-04-2018 at 12:09 PM. |

Oh, cool! No, pretty sure they are rats. Longer tails, and they look like they have bigger teeth like rats. Also, rats are fairly important in Japanese myth and zodiac, so more likely to be used.

So remember when Shredder turned into Dragon in season 5 of 4Kids? And how his body is about to be a vessel for the Dragon in IDW? Would you say Shredder has:

I think that was implied in Secret History of the Foot Clan. When they assumed Shredder was 'the Dragon Lord' (which now we know isn't the case...for now at least).
And as I descend into how the Utrom military even functions in IDW, I realized...shouldn't Montuoro, as a Commander, be Lieutenant Kleve's superior officer rather than the other way around? I would guess now that they don't have a "Brigadier" rank, skipping four or five ranks from Colonel straight to General. Which doesn't seem efficient. There are plenty of ranks that could have been used if Ch'rell were to be working as close to Krang as possible (as a Lieutenant General or Brigadier). My guess is that "colonel" sounded cooler.
