Season 2 sounds exciting! And now I need to catch up with Arrow, Flash, and LoT for the crossover.

Lena was introduced in the comics in 1961. Pre-crisis she was his sister, post crisis she's his daughter who was named after his late beloved foster sister. She was also in "Smallville" under the name Tess Mercer (born Lutessa Lena Luthor). Lionel had dumped her off at Granny Goodness' orphanage as a kid.

Actually following Infinite Crisis she's once again Luthor's disabled younger sister who lived in Smallville with her daughter Lori, who befriended Superboy.

Man, all this comic book mumbo jumbo of different continuities and retcons makes me head spin. Thank god TV/movies/cartoons simplify all this nonsense and just have a coherent vision.

DC and Marvel constantly change continuities, they retcon character origins, they change character history, etc. Sometimes they go as far as to change a character into a completely different character despite keeping the same name. Its like every 5-10 years everything you read in comics is pointless.

At least when you have live-action TV, cartoons or movies, its one specific universe they follow in a coherent manner until the show gets canceled. You don't have to deal with all this retconning nonsense over the span of decades.

I know a lot of Smallville fans who've got a bug up their @$$ because Tom Welling didn't get the gig, but it was to be expected.

Is this the first time that character has appeared in live action? I know he showed up in the DCAU on Justice League.

Having Welling don the cape in this show wouldn't feel right... Maybe in a one off episode that visit's the Smallvilleverse but having him as Superman in this universe would just be strange.

I am tempted to buy that Supergirl figure, but her face doesn't look enough like Melissa Benoist to me. Just looks like a generic Supergirl face.
