Red Dwarf
I don't know how many of you know about this awesome British show. The plot is fairly simple, a man awakens three million years after being put into stases to find the rest of the crew dead. He finds a life form evolved from the cat he smuggled on board, a hologram of his dead bunk mate he can't stand, and the ships computer that has gone senile. His goal is to get back to Earth and the show deals with the hijinks that ensue.
Anyway I started watching it again. I have all eight seasons on DVD, only missing the most recent dvd Back to Earth. For a show that started in 1988 and ran to 1999, with a few hiatuses, it still stands the test of time. I was just wondering if there were any other fans on here. Talk about the good old days. Talk about the new season that is supposed to air this fall. Last edited by Cowabunga Carl; 04-10-2012 at 01:44 PM. |

It is on Netflix, at least it was last time I checked.
I started watching my dvd's of this for the first time in about five years. They were in Oregon and I was in Indiana. Man I missed this show. I was thinking of how awesome it would be if there were action figures. |

I just started the episode where Craig Fergeson plays Lister's confidence. He was so young back then. Probably one of my favorite episodes from season 1.

Yeah i believe it was 2009 they ended up going with a three part mini-series cause they couldn't get the funding for a movie off the ground. It was called Back to Earth and was really good. It showed that people still loved these characters and wanted more of them. So it lead to the team trying to get funding for another season. They did it and filmed a new season last year. It is set to air this fall in England, no word on if it will make the leap across the pond this fall or not though.

Ah yes. I believe it's name was Arthur in season 8. He lost it so the classified him as a woman and he had to share a cell with Kochanski.

I'm a huge Dwarfer. The other members I know who also love the show are Storm Wolf, Hannah, and ZariusTwo. Plus, there's about one or two other threads about Red Dwarf somewhere. They never got many replies, either, so... yeah.
Anyhow, I've got all nine seasons and a couple novels based on the series. Every now and then, I'll pop in a DVD and watch a couple episodes, usually from series IV and up. I love the classics, though, and love Rimmer and Lister's exchanges. Once Kryten became a mainstay, it got even better. Each character has their own flair and the actors make them blend really well. I can't wait for the tenth series to land here in the US. I know it'll be a blast.

Fun Fun Fun, in the Sun Sun Sun.
I know someone who went to the Season 10 recordings as part of the canned laughter audience. They said what they saw was great, but obviously could not give details. But yeah, the canned laughter is back. |

Add me to the list! This show was beyond awesome! I'm very glad to hear there's a new season coming - I will be keeping an eye out for it.
That episode with Kryten's groinal attachment was one of my favorites! I also LOVE the Smeg-ups episodes. Another one of my favorite episodes was the one with the Inquisitor; I always crack up laughing when the Inquisitor talks through Lister. I could go on all day! Now I want to find the episodes and have a Red Dwarf marathon. Jenn |

Yeah, this show rules. I never got too far into it but I was a big fan of what I did see. I'm transferring my iTunes library to my new computer and I just found my Red Dwarf music. So good.
