The Lego Batman Movie

Quote:
The Lego incarnation of Batman proved to be so popular in the Warner Bros. hit The Lego Movie that he is getting his own big-screen spinoff.

Not only that, the movie is being fast-tracked.

Chris McKay, the animation supervisor on Lego Movie, was initially set to direct that project's sequel. However, the movie is being pushed back and McKay is now helming the Lego Batman movie, which is being written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.

Warners is eyeing a 2017 release for the spinoff, possibly even on the original date for Lego Movie 2. The next Lego movie to be released is Ninjago, due to open Sept. 23, 2016. The Lego Movie sequel will now presumably be released after 2017.

Will Arnett will reprise the voice of the Caped Crusader. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the custodians of the Lego screen brand, are producing.

Batman was one of the highlights of The Lego Movie, stealing every scene he was in. With Arnett taking Christian Bale's gravely voice to an extreme degree, the character was arrogant, dark, sarcastic and just too-cool-for-this-adventure.

Lego Batman already heads a very popular franchise. There have been at least three video games as well as a straight-to-video Lego Batman: The Movie — DC Super Heroes Unite, where Troy Baker provided the voice for the Dark Knight.

Warners had no comment.

Yeah. In light of this, why care about DOJ again?

Well I guess the next Batman cartoon on CN will be Lego Batman then. No way are they not doing a light-hearted cartoon tie-in to the movie.

After Beware the Batman bombed this is the only logical alternative

Sweet! I'm in, Batman was one of the best things about the Lego movie.

Very excited about this. I can't believe it's already been two years since the Lego Movie came out.

Doesn't look good, but doesn't look like the worst thing in the world either.

Bollocks.

I laughed at the beat-boxing and fumbling about on the microwave ("not 20 minutes...stupid"), I can relate to that.

I didn't really know this was a movie, I mean I had heard about it but thought it was a direct to video or something like that but they showed the trailer before BvS and it had me laughing the whole time and something that was not even on my radar is now anticipated. The trailer I watched was very different from the one posted here, the one here is actually not funny or entertaining in anyway.

I see Netflix has a bunch of DC/Batman Lego movies, how are they?

For an obvious marketing gimmick, this actually looks worth it.

And Cree Summer is Batgirl, apparently...

Saw the alternative trailer in the theatre while watching BVS. Loved it, especially the Glengary Glenross reference which I'm certain went over everyone's heads.

They're 2 completely different things so you shouldn't compare them in the first place.
