A rather observant friend of mine has pointed out that the "other doctor"'s sonic screwdriver is in fact...just a plain old screwdriver.

He seems to think it's a flathead...but to me it looks like a crosspoint, which weren't invented till the 1930's. Flatheads tho were invented in the early 1800's.

Talking

I never thought I'd see the day I would go out of my way to watch Doctor Who: Confidential

I hope if Matt Smith is good at the role he stays at it.

Did anyone watch the Doctor Who Proms? It was excellent. Music of the Spheres was top notch - very pantomime-y. Freema was great as usual and it was fun watching all the kids' faces when the 'monsters' came out. Rose's song was probably my favourite, there's just something about it that is quite haunting and gets to me - what with that piano and the driving bass line...

And as for the new Doctor... I quite like him. He's a little strange looking, which is always good, and I hope the powers that be keep his hair long - we need a Doctor with hair!! When he was talking, the way he was moving his hands about, and seeing some of his previous acting work - I think he could be excellent. Am I excited? Hell yeah!

Huh weird. I've seen that "Never before shown adventure" of the Doctor and the loose Graske before somewhere. Or this is the most bizarre case of deja vu I've ever had.

But the music and the show was fantastic. I loved how some of the kids just were scared shitless when the Cybermen stomped by. If I was their age and would have found myself confronted by a Cyberman or, even worse, a Dalek, I'd have been traumatized forever.

New Doctor? Hell yeah! Bring it on!

There is an older short with the Graske that was a Choose Your Own Adventure-type thing. The Proms short has been online since right after the event, so you might have stumbled upon it.

I have "acquired" the Proms show, but haven't yet sat down to watch it.

I apologise if I have offended, t'were not my intentions..

Perhaps, instead of merely saying "hair", I shoulda said "long hair"..

Or maybe even "curly hair"...

Tom Baker hair.

Or even Colin Bakerish...

Fair enough, thon Tenth Doctor has hair that is quite nice, but I want long, dagnabbit! Or even curly!!! Or p'raps the word i'm looking for is...

big.

I apologise for rambling on, I am quite drunk tonight, y'see..

Big hair. That's what I meant, yeah!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...assistant.html

Michelle Ryan looks set to become the next Doctor Who companion after landing a plum role in the show's Easter special.

The former EastEnders actress will appear in Planet of the Dead, which will be broadcast on BBC1 in April.

She will play Lady Christina de Souza, who accompanies David Tennant's Doctor on a dangerous bus trip.

Comedian Lee Evans will also make a cameo appearance.

Executive producer Russell T Davies said: 'The script is being kept strictly under wraps - however we can reveal that Lady Christina is a woman with a mysterious past who's going to have a huge impact on the Doctor.'

Both Tennant and Ryan were spotted filming on location in a bus yesterday.

The Easter special is one of four stand-alone episodes of the show to be broadcast this year. In each, the Doctor will have a different companion.

However, BBC bosses have not yet announced who will star alongside new Doctor Matt Smith in the 2010 series.

Show insiders said that Miss Ryan, 24, is a key contender to play Mr Smith's assistant.

A source revealed: 'Michelle's been in secret talks with BBC bosses.
Michelle Ryan

Incredible opportunity: Michelle Ryan

'They are likely to announce her as Doctor Who's new assistant very soon.

'She is perfect for the role. She is good looking and the right age to star alongside Matt.

'Everyone agrees they look great together and reckon fans will think they're the perfect team too.'

The source added: 'The BBC launched Michelle's acting career as Zoe Slater in EastEnders and she will be thrilled to be back with them in such a legendary role.

'It's an incredible opportunity for her and even though she's had a lot of success already she is still young and at the start of her career.'

Major spoilers for the second of the four Doctor Who specials.

Spoiler:
The Doctor has a vision of Ood Sigma, the one that said "your song will end" in the fourth season, foreshadowing Tennant's regeneration

More spoilers for Tennant's finale taken from The Sun tabloids (which have been both semi-accurate and completly accurate in the past)

Spoiler:
Sort of a "Journey's End Part II"-type reunion with Bille Piper, Freema, Caterine Tate. The opponents this time will be Martians (it's not known if it's The Ice Warriors, but it probably will be) and John Simm returning as The Master

The trailer for Pitch Black...I mean "Planet of the Dead"

And some more spoilers for the 2009 Specials (mostly regarding Tennant's final storyline)

Spoiler:
-The second special will air in November

-As previously reported, an Ood will appear in the second special

-The "Bad Wolf" for the specials is "Naysmith", the surname of a major character in David Tennant's final two episode portrayed by David Harewood called Joshua Naysmith, the founder of a company called "Neon" and the author of a book called "Fighting The Future". He comes under attack from an unknown force.

-Bernard Cribbons is the final companion for the specials. Catherine Tate will make an apperance as Donna, but it's not clear how much of a role she'll play

-John Simm has been seen in the dressing room trailer area for location filming, all but confirming his return as The Master

I really enjoyed the special.

Spoiler:
It was a fun balance of DW and Disney with a great sense of pacing and more morally grounded characters. I really appreciated that there was no real antagonist, just a force of nature to contend with, and for once nobody was a real d*ck, even The Brigadeer was only trying to save the Earth when she pulled the gun on Malcom

"He will knock four times"
