Star Wars Anthology film about Han Solo in the works

This movie is supposed to come out in less than a year from now, five months after Episode VIII.

I don't see that happening, it'll get delayed to December just like the previous films were and hopefully Star Wars stays as a yearly Christmas franchise instead of getting movies a few months apart like Marvel.


I guess if the movie really is that bad and the new Han Solo is the problem it wouldn't surprise me if it's cancelled and shelved forever. It's been a small minority that have complained about Episode VII and Rogue One but everyone is united, including some of the biggest Star Wars shills that this is a bad idea. I'm not sure if Lucasfilms wants to anger the current "Disney Star Wars can do no wrong" which started since Episode VII just for one film.

So I think they're going to cast new actors for Luke/Leia/Han for a new trilogy of movies set after Episode 6, probably a while from now like in the 2020's or something. By then people will probably accept it because we need young actors to play their characters in that time, but as you said CG models won't work either.

I can see them doing something similar as the new Star Trek movies, cast new younger actors but in the same continuity/timeline just post-Episode 6.

I guess I could see that. The new Han could reprise his role alongside whoever is the new Luke and Leia.

I guess it's possible if their hard-on for the OT continues but I don't see it. Now that Carie Fisher is gone they won't even try to insert young Leia as a CG character for many years, if she hadn't died I think they would've kept doing it.

The only way we'll see it I think is in a few years and in an all CG movie where everyone is CG including Luke, Han etc. Funnily enough, I remember a thread on Theforce.net about someone wanting to have Shadows of the Empire done in CG after Beowulf was released so like ten years ago but now it seems possible.

They said they wouldn't recast Leia for episode 9, not that they would never recast Leia ever.

If they recast the entire main cast, then they'll obviously have a young Leia. They could even use Billie Lourd since now she's getting old enough to play a post Episode 6 Leia. Just dye her hair brown.
