the movie's 'darkness' was broken up by the tmnt acting damned silly and goofy during the entire movie and even the fight scenes. C'mon guys, the only time the tmnt were truly serious was upon Raph's slow recovery, and the fact that Splinter might be gone (the meditation scene), and the only serious fight scene was when they fought the Shredder at the end. It is kind of a kiddy movie.

Yeah it will either be classified as comedy, family or martial arts but that's about it.

1st movie not for kids

okay, the first movie was made for everybody, the second movie wasn't that's why a lot of people did not like it. I have an article in a magazine that said that (the director said it. he said he wasn't forced into it, but i think he was or he's just an idiot) remember, cause the controversy was that the fans hated the whole no weapons thing, then the third movie was just corny and for kids!!! so....

LOL Dont even get me started on lack of weapons..especially when it came to CBS later on with the old show series. Mikey always used a grappling hook because they thought that the nunchuks were too violent but yet Raph and Leo can use their pointy sharp weapons like the katana and sai..stupid CBS

I liked the 2nd movie in fact most people I know who like any turtles movies like the 2nd one best(When I say know I mean in person). Sure number 1 is darker and all but number 2 its more fun if you know what I mean. All it needed was Casey Jones

Well, the new Cylons would find that a complete insult

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

A bit of both. As far as most of them go, I'd rather see them under "family" rather than "kids." Excluding the crossover with Batman and any (*crosses fingers*) like it in the future; def not for the kiddies.

Also, wow, this is an old thread. Must have taken some digging... Lacking so many movies at the time it was made!

When the movie came out, TMNT mania was in full swing. But... how many of you saw the first Ghostbusters movie as kids? That definitely had more and stronger language; plus smoking and all that. So while this originally happened in 2004, it's understandable since Ghostbusters 2 and the TMNT sequels were drastically toned down; especially TMNT 3.

A bit of both. The movie should definitely be put in with films that aren't kid specific however I can understand why retailers did this as TMNT is mostly seen as for kids.

The Cylons are crap CGI or a human plot device so we're okay.

Y'know people always say that but while GB II is slightly toned down for a family audience I always felt it was more grown up in tone, less juvenile with the characters acting more responsible as they've got older.
