That's how I felt about it. After watching all the MCU films, and watching Agents of SHIELD, it was Agent Carter where I said, "I just have to treat this like comics. I'm not going to follow everything, and if I miss a reference here and there, I just miss it." I mean, wish me luck going into Defenders after only watching Jessica Jones, but I'm just not willing to dedicate the time.

Daredevil S1 is definitely worth checking out, and would probably help you get your bearings in Defenders but recap videos for DD S2, LC and IF would probably be sufficient

Is this show really worth checking out? Are there any ties to the greater MCU, or even other TV shows?

I would say “no” on the ties question but I’m not an expert so it could have some I’m not picking up on. But nothing extremely obvious to me. And yeah I think it’s worth checking out. But I also like things others sometimes don’t like. I just know I look forward to watching it every week and that doesn’t happen for me with many shows.
