Welp just seen it. I'm surprised that I love it very much.
I don't get something though... Spoiler:
Anyway, 9/10. I should rank the films soon. |

Story and character, though? Those are the important things.

Absolutely. If there's anything (the ONLY thing, I'd argue) the new Abrams Trek and Wars have done well, it's casting and visuals.

Didn't rewatch any of the old movies or even VII oh well. Let's see how it goes. Haven't read any spoilers. |

Rewatch "A New Hope" and just mentally substitute new characters for old.

I haven't rewatched any old movies recently, but overall:
- The original trilogy I've probably watched around 30 times since I first saw them around the early 90's till now. - Episode 1 I watched at least 5 times. - Episode 2 I think I've only watched twice. First time in theaters and then gave it a second chance at home...still worst Star Wars movie. - Episode 3 I've watched around 5 times. - Episode 7 so far I only watched once in theaters. Maybe this is why I don't dislike the movie like some others because my only experience of it was the first time in theaters. I do want to see it again though. - Rogue One I've seen once so far. |

I can't count how many times I've watched the originals
1, once at the theater, once after.... maybe twice, not sure. 2, once at the theater 3, once at the theater and caught it on TV after sometime. 7, once at the theater, twice (once properly through) afterwards. Rouge one... shamefully not seen yet....call myself a fan too! |

Now my mini review.
Spoiler:
I maintain my score of 9/10 for this film. So yeah it's vastly superior to Force Awakens. Rank wise: 1. The Phantom Menace (9.8/10) 2. A New Hope (9.5/10) 3. The Last Jedi (9/10) 4. The Force Awakens (8/10) 5. Return of the Jedi (7/10) 6. The Empire Strikes Back (6/10) 7. Revenge of the Sith (3/10) 8. Attack of the Clones (2/10) |

Have fun. I plan to see it again too.
Eventhough anyone can watch films on Bluray/DVD repeatedly, it could never replicate the feeling and enthusiasm of the cinema crowd. The way they gasped, cheered or sobbing at scenes, truly priceless. It's like we all are living the moment together. Plus the big screen looks marvellous too. |

Back from seeing it... well, there's plenty to digest and dissect there... called a couple of things as well as the plot unravelled itself, twisting and turning like a twisty turny thing. Probably going to take a while to contemplate, and going to see it again on Saturday...!

2. Yeah, that's annoying. Maybe they filmed it, maybe they didn't. Maybe following all the speculation and internet theories, they decided to stick two fingers up and NOT go into it, biggest mind **** ever to the Star Wars fan boys or maybe we will find out in the next film? Certainly have no real idea WHERE the next film is going to go... bar one aspect you can probably guess. 3. Guessed that due to lightsaber colour and Just For Men applied

Mark Hamill is wishing Disney had used George Lucas' outline for 7-9:

Well we already had the expanded universe comics/novels with entirely different futures for Luke, Han, Leia, their kids, and the franchise in general. Star Wars now has a "pick your own canon" mentality to it.

Sort of. It's a pick your own canon... unless it's the "Legends" stuff. Then it's a FAKE canon now.
