Not a bad finale, some missed opportunities, and admittedly a waste of Simm, Gomez and Mondassians.

Capaldi's last stand/fall was nicely handled with all of the Cyberman encounter references...it'd be lost on a casual though.

So Nardole is just left on the ship to eternally fend it off against Cybermen? This is what bothered me the most, the story put too much emphasis on character and not address the overall situation.

And now noone can say Moffat did'nt use Captain Jack in his era [technically]

I just caught the last two episodes with my boyfriend.

Yelled quite a lot as stuff happening.

Like the Master's disguise being lifted. Like Bill being the first Cyberman. Like the Water Girl returning for Bill, and giving her a much better ending (though the Doctor wouldn't know it) and finally the cliffhanger with the First Doctor. Nardole and that lady that had a crush on him. The flashes to previous companions and his regeneration flashbacks.

What is it with these guys and part-twos? They have this bad habit of leaving you on an interesting cliff-hanger in part one, then they drop you into an almost completely different scenario in part two, and rush the resolution because they have to spend most of the episode explaining the new setting.

It was fun to watch, and I enjoyed John Simm’s performance, despite having totally hated his previous appearances. I thought they missed an opportunity to put some funky 70s and 80s Cybermen on screen, and the evolution from the Mondas to Cybus model doesn’t really make sense, but whacha gunna do?!

Makes sense, every new series Doctor has said farewell to a version of his first companion in their last story

Nine-Rose [his actual companion at the time]
Ten-Rose [from before she met him]
Eleven-Amy [albeit a hallucination of her...and Karen Gillan in a wig]

If Clara isn't a hallucination or whatever, it'll mark the first time since Nine and Rose that a Doctor has said goodbye to his first companion in their present timestream.

I'd be fine with Clala as a hallucination, TARDIS interface, whatever as long as she's not involved in the plot. This should be the best Christmas special yet if it focuses mainly on the two Doctors.

We'll find out on Sunday. I'm not expecting anyone in particular, especially since I don't really know anyone who would be the Doctor.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge did have a "no" response, though it was rather shady considering that she was edited as "regenerating" in the middle of said denial. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the Doctor, but also wouldn't if it wasn't.

Either way, there will be tears to drink. Either "THE DOCTOR IS A GIRL" or "THE DOCTOR CAN NEVER EVER EVER BE A GIRL".

Loved the finale and am anxious to see what happens in the Christmas special. If Clara is somehow returning, I'm fine with that as I would love to see her again and get a proper send-off for her and the Doctor.
