With The Irish Times, I can understand your skepticism, but Inverse is basically an online magazine for science nerds, and I think it’s safe to assume that it’s a more reliable source than The Daily Beast or Vice when it comes to topics such as science and technology.

You must be from a purple moderate area, then.

Some people here are certifiably ignorant.

Evolution is documented, Earth is not flat, and space is real for christ's sake smh

You should watch the movie 12 Angry Men, it's a classic and it's pretty good.

You don’t even need to go as far back as the pyramids, just take our parents: we didn't see them be born and grow up either, so surely they were created by some magical bearded dude...?

Yeeesh.

And you don’t have to be religious to doubt a scientific theory, one that’s full of holes for that matter (did I just make a Hawking joke?). There are plenty of atheists and agnostic people who challenge Darwinism entirely from a scientific standpoint.

So...when all the Holocaust victims die, would it be safe to question whether the holocaust happened? I mean...we have people who say it didn't happen so they are just as valid because no one who was there is alive anymore and we cant trust supporting evidence (like photos).

Evolution was established and accepted long before the gender stuff started...so no its not the same people. Teaching that in school is a very current idea.

Did you read the Inverse article? It does not call into question evolution, it calls into question how important coastal living was to our early ancestors.

I mean...there is evidence. DNA, fossils, experimentation with selective breeding. The only people I see that question it are usually asking for live evidence of thousands upon thousand upon thousands of generations of tiny changes over time which is impossible to produce directly but we can produce supporting evidence for.

My big question, you can quote studies and such...but why don't you accept evolution Cowabung-Gal?

What do you care whether I do or don’t? Or is evolution a religion too?

Nothing should be immune from questioning.

Why does it matter who built them?

It matters in the sense of, are they an early product of and a testament to human ingenuity and craftsmanship that can be pointed to in a historical context or are they... not? Aliens would make them not.

Legit...I am just trying to understand. You and FredWolfLeonardo are the only people I have ever encountered who have reject evolution. I like to understand people I dont agree with because I might have to consider something new.

Its not a religion...there is legitimate, physical, repeatable evidence to support it.

I guess they are, but I'm still guessing in the end so its not cold hard fact. And I'm okay with that.

You could say the same about God. Many call it “proof” that He does exist, others don’t and give reasons for why they are so skeptic.

Scientific knowledge is evolving too. Scientists are always changing their minds and re-examining prior conclusions. Even Darwin himself admitted that his theory could be proven false if enough evidence was provided. Some scientists even come to believe in an intelligent design as they study the universe more and more.

This is probably the best take in this whole thread

It's wild how some people can't reconcile the two

You are going into realm of the magical thinking and demonstrating lack of critical thinking.
Nothing had ever proven existence of the "creator", yet for some reason I should entertain that idea? Why?
Give me evidence and I believe, if I find them sufficient or if they are undeniable. Up until then I don't see any point believing in fairy tales. It no better than believing in actual religions or ideologies like a communism.

Why?
What exactly it should accomplish?

Like, as a thought experiment I can accept that, but thinking of it, like it is an actual think? Might as well roll into scientology at this point.

Because your whole argument hinges on idea that "no-one has seen how a monkey evolved into a human". By this logic, if no-one has seen how pyramids were built it could be anyone. Even aliens.
Or you don't understand your own argument?

Being OK with ignorance is not a good idea.
Besides, there is a fairly good idea how and why pyramids have been build. You can call it a cold hard fact.
