View Full Version : Technodrome Site T-Shirts?

Hi, everyone. Krang and I are considering adding a "Technodrome Store" feature to the site where fans can buy Technodrome-logo T-shirts (and possibly other merchandise if there's enough interest.) Would anyone be interested in such a feature? What would you consider a reasonable price for a shirt? Comments/suggestions/ideas?

Well I can't say im really intrested, the shipping costs are pretty high to Finland.

Well...stuff like this for a fan site sounds a little cooky at first, but then again I just ask "Why not?". It'll be a way of expressing my pride AND it'll advertise the site to would-be members out there (I can name quite a few at my school alone who might want to check this place out).

I say go for it, and if it doesn't work out, well, then it didn't hurt to try it out once. Besides, it's kinda tough finding a TMNT-related shirt even online today.

www.80stees.com (or something like that) they have tmnt, and even alf!80tees doesn't have a good enough selection. I've seen other TMNT shirts elsewhere as well.

Plus, think of it this way; this will be a rarer shirt to find, so it'll be a little bit more prestigious (sp?) to have...

Just wanted to mention a few things. First, the reason we're thinking about selling t-shirts and other merchandise is to raise money to help pay for the server fees, so if you want to help support this site and its forums, this would be a way to do that. Also, we're probably not allowed to sell products with images from the cartoons or comics (since they're copyrighted), so the merchandise would have our site's logos on it instead (and if anyone wants to contribute a logo, let me know). BTW, the merchandise would be professionally produced and shipped by an online company. If anyone has any questions, let Shredder or me know.

No seriously i think the shirt is a good idea...lots of sites are doing t-shirts and i guess it's a good idea to help cover the site server price.
It'd be cool if it had a picture of the technodrome itself tho :oops: perhaps you can put a picture of a big-ball-with-an-eyeball-that-looks-like-the-technodrome-but-due-to-copyright-laws-it-is-not.

The logo isn't a bad idea either...I never said anything about actual TMNT stuff on there, just TMNT-related (hence, the Technodrome :D :D :D )

I think a paypall button would be better for collecting money. I would most definetly donate atleast 5$. If everyone would do the same it should be a little help.

It would be possible to sell posters, but I'm not sure what to put on them since I'm assuming we're not allowed to use images taken directly from the cartoons, movies, or comics. Not yet, but I doubt they would give me permission to sell products with their art on them. I would try, but I'm not even sure who owns the rights to the original cartoon now, since I don't think Murakami-Wolf-Swenson exists anymore.

I've heard that Artisan picked up the rights to the old show... But wouldn't it be more expensive to use copyrighted material?

That's what I was thinking, but so far we haven't had any volunteers to draw them...

i'm switching wheeljack over to my dad's old comp so if anyone wants free hosting, email me.

You should just sell the shirts to the people on the site through snaili mail that way you could put w/e u want on it, wouldn't have to worry about ur site getting shut down or something...

i'm switching wheeljack over to my dad's old comp so if anyone wants free hosting, email me.Good idea, but I can't for these reasons: Most ISPs, including mine (ATTBI), don't allow people to run any kind of server off their computer while using their internet service. If they find out that someone is running a server, they will probably suspend or disable their internet connection.
The Technodrome gets about 7500 page views a day (and about 50,000 hits), so that would definitely slow down my internet connection and computer.Thanks for the suggestion, though.You should just sell the shirts to the people on the site through snaili mail that way you could put w/e u want on it, wouldn't have to worry about ur site getting shut down or something...If I sell them using an online company, I make a little profit on each sale which goes toward hosting fees. If I make the shirts myself, I would lose alot of money with each shirt (since I would have to pay for the shirts, the transfers, the software, the packaging, the shipping, etc.). Plus, I can sell things like hats and stickers if I use an online service for that. But thanks again for the suggestion.

Yeah, if you want to run your own webserver, you're probably gonna need Ultra ATA Raid or SCSI Raid, some serious processing power, a lot of RAM, a good OS (Linux, BSD), high-speed internet connection (DSL, Cable, T-1), a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply), all of which costs $$$ (except BSD or Linux which you can download for free).

You're probably better off having your site hosted remotely with the traffic you get. Server maintennance can be costly, too.

One of the designs will be the same as the Technodrome logo at the top left corner of this page, and the other will be a newer variation of that logo. Those are the only designs so far, but if anyone has a suggestion or wants to contribute a design, let me know. And yes, stickers and hats will also be available.
