View Full Version : New toys are in stores NOW!!!!

Aaaah! I'm so excited! I visited the toy department at work today and found the new action figures! My store (Wal-mart) is selling them for $5.83 each. There were no Splinters, Shredders, or Footsoldiers, just the turtles. (I suspect that those three are being released a little later, has anyone seen photos of them carded yet?)
We had 4 Leos, 2 Raphs, 2 Dons, and 1 Mike out on the shelf. I suspect that we had put out the contents of a case of 12, so 3 had been sold before I discovered them.
The figures are GREAT! They stand well, they're well articulated, nicely detailed, well packaged, weapons are cool, I am absolutely thrilled with them! I think I'll take a picture of them next to the old figures and upload it to my site. I'll post the link when I do that.

You left-coasters always get the toys first!!
We won't see those on the right-coast for 2 to 4 weeks based on how long it takes new TFs to get here.
Maybe Playmayes will have bettter distribution methods than Hasbro. :D

I haven't own any toys for quite some time, but those seem pretty cool. Maybe I should consider getting few...

Nice, they're not really that big compared to the old figures...i might get a few if they come to argentina, i dunno.
Karpo_007
12-17-2002, 04:18 AM
Im not sure if they are going to Finland either... I dont think I go so far as ordering them internationally... But the Leonardo Statue I could.
Nickokapo
12-17-2002, 04:20 AM
If they don't come to argentina, i'm definitely not ordering em.
But if they do and are in stores i might get a couple if they aren't too expensive, maybe i'll score some interesting bootlegs too :) there are a lot of those over here...but that'll only happen if the series is a big hit i guess.
Karpo_007
12-17-2002, 04:22 AM
Hopefully that happens. Many things rely on the success of this cartoon and toyline.

Yeah i hope that happens...the toys themselves look cool enough, they should sell fine 8)

Hah.. and here I was looking in all the wrong places! TRU and KB Toys don't have them. I did notice on the TMNT Mirage site last night, Dan said the Walmart Arizona has them as well.
But I wonder, does even a redneck city like mine have these yet? I'll have to see toniiiight!

So did you buy all the toys from the Woodburn Walmart or the Mall205 Walmart ;)
Personally I'll wait for them to come out to Target or one of the other stores before I shop at Walmart.

He probably didn't have enough room for it in the picture there, but I love how he lined up the original action figures right infront of their 21st Century counterparts. That's what I wanna do with mine once I get them!

I work at the ghetto of Wal-marts, Eastport Plaza on 82nd. The only store actually in Portland's city limits. I appreciate your non-patronage. :) The only reason I shop there is the discount and the convenience. (I'm too tired after work to go anywhere else.)

Ahem. I'm a she. :D
I bought two each of Don, Leo, and Raph, but we only had one Michelangelo. Not knowing when I'd find my second one, I didn't want to wait to open the package. I've still got the card though, and the nifty little logo on the front of the package comes right out...I'm thinking about sticking them up on my door or something.

questions for skeletoncrew,
Are the really poseable?
Is there a place to put there weapons in their belt?
And the most important, do they look like their new cartoon counterparts?
PWDESAI

i can't wait to go pick up the supersized figs at my kb. I have a question to anyone that might now, are the supersized figs folly posable with ball joint legs and arms? cuz the old ones weren't as posable, but the new ones look like they are from the pics, i go tonight at 5 to get my supersized leo, wish me luck that i don't die of total amazement of getting the supersized figs b4 most of teh world

I have taken some more photos showing card backs and turtle backs...but I have to leave for work in a few minutes, so they won't all be uploaded until later.
All of them have places on their belts for weapons. Raph's aren't in a very good place, they're right under his arms.
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/raph.jpg As you can see, the sai isn't quite in there the way it should be. I couldn't get it to go through the second hole it was supposed to go through.
I feel that they're quite poseable, though their legs are only jointed at the hips.

it's not "in" his bo, it's an add on. And to the mikey's nunchucks question, if u really look at the pic, they are not on a chain they are molded plastic. Thanks for the pics sc
I will try and get pics of the 1 foot dudes.

I just went out and bought a case of the giant figs. THE WHOLE CASE. with the playmates logo and tmnt logo on the box as well. I'm pretty sure that would boost the value of the figs, but i don't care. I'm leaving them all mint in perfect box fresh!
btw i'm too lazy to take pics, since i don't have a digital camera and my scanner is too small. But if it helps i can tell you they look cool, but they're a lot like the smaller guys but not as articulated. They are really just like the old giant figs with the swivel knees but no ball jointed legs...
If you were in controversy of wether to get these figs or the small ones (cuz you couldn't afford both, or didn't feel like paying for both) i'm gonna say your probably gonna wanna go with the small dudes.

I hope that Kids will be as excited about these toys as you are. If the new show and the Toys become really popluar, It will certainly help all future TMNT projects like the CGI miniseries or the 4:th Movie.

Idea: Have the cartoon for both the kids and older TMNT fans, then on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network have a CGI TMNT show for the older fans only. The CGI show shouldn't be anywhere near as "kiddy" as the new cartoon show. That way everybody wins in the end...and I'll watch both!

These new figs are awesome! Leo rules! :D There is only one thing I would have changed. I don't really like the gap that's around the figures waist. I was hoping Playmates would have sculpted these newer figures with the full front and back shell, like they did with the Movie Star Turtles. Heck, it doesn't really matter since the belt covers it but, that extra touch would have been nice.

that being said, we still have no turtles. as the wal-martions would say 'thoust has angered the wal-mart god, thus you must wait longer for your turtles so that thou may make the lord's pockets thicker with the lining of your green bills of love'

http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/cycle2.jpg
Typical of toys...Raphael didn't fit on the bike quite like the picture shows. I can't seem to get both of his feet to rest on the footrests (or whatever they're called, please forgive me for not being familiar with motor cycles), when both of his hands are on the handlebars.
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/cycle3.jpg
Watch where you stand Mike! The knock-out cannon concealing flap is up! This baby shoots can 'o beans tin can missles! (I'm not kidding you. Be careful not to lose the missle though...they only give you one.)
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/cycle4.jpg
Whoo-hoo! Now we can "Soar over the city and wheelie down stairwells! Fire tin can torpedoes at Shredder's evil Foot Ninjas! Leap over parked cars and skyscrapers!" (According to the side of the box. 8) But only if these things don't require them to be able to steer.)

Cherubae, thanks for mentioning that you found yours at Target! So did I!!! They had everything except Shredder!
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/carded.jpg
I came across several Splinters and Foot Soldiers, but only one Shredder at the last K-B toystore I tried!
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/foot1.jpg
The Footsoldier is at a distinct tactical disadvantage when it comes to ranged weapons. His crossbow pulls back and "fires", but the bolt is attached to the string. I don't know why he bothers to carry it.

http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/splint4.jpg
Splinter: Does anyone else feel a draft?
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/shred1.jpg
Shredder's swords fit together to make an extra pokey weapon!
Shredder: Come here old rat! You'll never feel another draft again!

He may be small and grey, but he still knows how to bust up a scuffle.
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/minions.jpg
Shredder seemed a little lonely with just one Foot Soldier, so I supplied him with some new and improved minions. Minion Mart...for all your minion needs!
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/shell1.jpg
I was also lucky enough to find a Battle Shell. The Clackamas, OR Target has a 4 foot section devoted to the turtles. They had all the figures except for Shredder, the Sewer Cycle, Battle Shell, and even the RPing Bo and Katana!
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/shell2.jpg
The Battle Shell comes equipped with torpedos, but it doesn't have parking brakes. Fortunately the winch on the front can be used if it threatening to roll backwards.
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/shell3.jpg
The two lower missles pop out by pushing a button on top, they fire by pushing the red button beside them.
http://skeletoncrewsvault.homestead.com/files/figs/shell4.jpg
The box touted the fact that all 4 turtles can fit in the vehicle...it didn't mention the circle jerk possibilities.

Uh, wrong finger Shredder.

Are they doing Baxter? Few of those could come as accsseories... But of course they want to make more money and release it on it's own, if at all.

If you were really bored and wanted that Foot's crossbow to work, just snap off the two bits on the arrow's bottom, attach a shaft over the bow's opening to keep it from launching in the wrong direction, and cut a bit out of the back of the arrow end tied by the string. Either that or laugh at my nerdy tendencies to customize my toy figures. :P
