View Full Version : Should they bring back Oroku Saki, the Shredder?
Toonami Tom

I think they should find a way to bring Oroku Saki the Shredder back to the show. Maybe as a suprise twist at the season 4 finale episode. Even though it was said "one of these characters will not be seen after Exodus part 2" they could bring him back. Dr. Chapplin was shown, and he hasn't returned so maybe it's him that won't come back and not Saki.

No, never, Saki should never return. He's gone, deal with it, bringing him back would only ruin things.

Eh, I think either way the show would survive, nothing ruined by his absence or his return. Myself, though... I'd rather he not come back. He'd only take away the chance for Bishop to come into his own as the chief villain (which I figure at this point is an inevitability).
Still, I can't say I myself want him back, since it would most likely bring back the whole Utrom aspect of the show again, something I'm not to keen on in large doses.

Absolutely not. Bringing him back yet again would seem trite and overused.(hrrmmmm...) Besides, I really want it to be proven once and for all that the whole concept of TMNT does NOT depend on Shredder being the villain, as many who were only exposed to the old toon may think.
If they bring him back again, I shall beat my head against my desk and moan, "Why...why?!"

well I think the whole Shredder theme is overused, it's time to get to other villains and for the turtles to grow.

You're screwed then, because the Shredder is still being used, albiet with someone else under the helmet
Unfortunatly, mainstream perspective is that the Shredder IS the de facto enemy of the TMNT regardless of comics canon, heck the new cartoon is'nt often that faithful to it anymore

I much prefer Karai being shredder. if there is going to be a shredder in the new series, it should be her and not Saki.
If Karai gets Killed, drops the Shredder gimmick etc, then there should be no Shredder at all.

I want Karai to be the Shredder for a good long while. It's not only cool that the current "Shredder" is female, but that a female is currently the greatest threat to the TMNT. :D
But I also eventually want Oroku Saki to regain his position as the Shredder again. He just kicks too much ass to have sitting on the bench forever.
Seriously, Oroku Saki = Best villian ever.
Or Raphael could be one, duh.
From what I recall in the series, that's the last thing Raph wants. So, no, it's not going to happen. The Image series is dead and obsolete, man. Let it go! :P

Why wouldn't it be, Putrescent? She's Saki's daughter. It's only fitting that she continues the legacy of the Shredder.
I could never see any of the TMNT as Shredder. Not even Leo or Raph. It's like Saki being allies with the TMNT and living in the sewers with them. It just doesn't seem right.

lmao it's funny how you don't even know what in the world I am talking about...just because I date men does not mean in any way I am sexist you don't even know how many wimen I have stuck up for in my life time and I am only 26 and most of my idols are wimen along with female vocalists being my favorite...so back off...
and what I was refering to how almost all of you on the drome bash the image series but as soon as they do something like it in the new toon "wow omg it's so amazing i love it" I'd swear it's just Statler & Waldorf from the muppet show posting on these boards lol...

people bash image comics and you say let it die....but they did the same thing there and Karai was never saki's daughter in the mirage books...I happen to like the idea of Pamiko better and how she was introduced...but hey thats just me and probably only me and no I don't like her outfit lol...
no no no I agree I could never see that either but it was quite awsome to me when the bad guys and good guys would team up just for a minute in the old show to stop an even bader villain :)

That mean I think you are sexist? You're right, I know nothing about you I don't know if you are a straight woman or a gay man, and to be honest, I couldn't care less.
When someone makes a comment like "But it's ok for Shredder to be female" With a rolling eye icon after it, how do you expect people to take that? It sounds like you are saying she shouldn't be Shredder simply because she's female.

it's a joke feminist groups show the word women as wimen I was trying to be light hearted.....:tcool: & I also happen to prefer that spelling because it seems allot more correct then women does...it's to close to woman...
it means allot I just told you i am...and some times I forget not everyone has a vast tmnt knowledge like I do. :trazz:
I am quite fine with Karai once again I will say it if you didn't notice it before in mouth foaming anger that she is my favorite character in this new show...I just don't like her as shredder...do you even know who Pameko is and what I'm going on about? because if not I will go into deeper detail about it:kgrin:

and just to keep this thread from going way off topic I will say
"NO NEW SHREDDERS IN 2006!!" thank you thank you hehe
Let the Utrom chill on that asteroid.
I like it that we have the Shredder again, but not the Utrom Shredder. This way they made a major change to the show without killing off the main enemy of the Turtles. And the fact that the Shredder is female now makes it even more interesting ;) The more important thing to me is that the Shredder is human now.
The more important thing to me is that the Shredder is human now.
Well, we don't know that for sure.

Let's face it, since the writers WUSSED OUT and didn't kill Saki, he WILL return at some point in the future. It's pretty much a given that we haven't seen the last of him. They left him alive for a reason, he'll be back. Whether we like it or not.

God no, let him freeze his butt off. I bet he's dead by now anyway. He's on a floating icey rock in space. There's no food on it and it's cold. I don't see how he could survive. Then again it's a cartoon so he just might come back -_-
Well, we don't know that for sure.
Yes we do. because Karai is human and is the Shredder.

I don't know. I'm really not in a hurry to see Saki again, and I'm very much enjoying Karai-Shredder. However, I thought Exodus was really, really lame, and I think the character deserves a better exit than that.
I guess it doesn't really matter, since the show still has some form of the Shredder, so the character will never really be gone. And like Rat King said, Saki was never actually confirmed as dead, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he returned at some point.

IMHO, absolutely not. I was getting to the "WHY don't they just KILL him and be done with?! stage by the end of Season 3, anyway. HE's gone, so good riddence to bad rubbish, sez I!!!
Only NOW we've got Karai taking Saki/Chi'rell's place AS the Shredder. Yippee.:dead:  :P

I beleive he is too good of a tmnt character to not bring him back one last time, but I think they should wait a long time like until maybe the shows last season.
I would have like to seen him actually die but I really don't think he should have return. However, if he does i hope they truly kill him off.

No way, nope..not on yer life...it doesnt revolve around Shredder being the bad guy, not like the old show. I hated that, it was just ONE bad guy...
here they have many enemies, lots of variety..key to cartoon survival...variety.
and good stories...even though I'm still waiting for one that blaws me away this season...so far,

I want him to be gone for good but the thing is they chickened out and did not kill him. To truely get rid of a character they need to die (Ok even that's not permanate.) and they failed to do that. His "Final Fate" was anything but final. It's like they left it open so they could bring him back if the fans whine for it.

He beat them down they couldn't kill him and they got lucky. They didn't chicken out they almost killed themselves just to kill him. I think if Shredder comes back they should try and do something like "Worms Of Madness" that would be awesome.
I want Saki as Shredder or no Shredder at all. I hate Karai. She doesn't say cool things comparing herself to a Phoenix rising from ashes.

I meant the writers chickened out not the Turtles. I mean Shredder killed millions of innocent lives and the Utroms just exile him? Come on there is always a chance he can escape and continue killing. When or if he does that it's on the Utroms for not killing their greatest criminal in history.

As long as Oroku Saki is an utrom.... good riddance to him. It's not that him being an utrom doesn't tie into the story well, it actually does....
But still, it's like making a secret origin where the Turtles were originally lizards, and somehow, evolved into another species from the side-effects of the mutagen (of course, with the concept being well-thought out).
I'm fine with Karai being the new Shredder, though they really need to make Bishop the major villain, now. I could see some villainous pacts forming in the future, to go against the Turtles.

They chickened out because merchandising got to them, theres' ratings in the return of the original Saki, or the potential prospects of using him in a DVD movie feature. the final fate probably was the original intention, but merchandising got the best of 'em

Why are so many against Shredder showing up again for at least one more time? He's such a damn awesome villain.
I'm glad that many villains come and go in the series, but there will never be a villain quite like Shredder. Shredder literally defines the word "badass". He's that great.

He's a good villain, yes... but when they essentially promise us that he won't be returning, I'd like to see them go through with that. It also allows them the story flexibility of bringing in new awesome villains (like Bishop) instead of allowing the show to go in circles, fighting the same fight against the same villain. Keeps it fresher...
...But I do like when they bring Shredder's influence back to haunt the Turtles; things he's done or caused to happen (like Karai) that screw up their lives... and he doesn't even have to be there. Even when gone, he can still be a pain in the neck for our stalwart heroes. ;)

The utrom shredder was a good villian, but they've done that he's dead, he's back bit enough. Personally Karai will make a better villian than the utrom dude. Let him freeze his tentacles off.

Couldn't have said it better :) Appearances like in "Bad Day" are good enough, even if he's gone forever, which I hope he is.
I like the turn of events now that Karai is the new Shredder. This way they totally left the Shredder at the show without bringing back the Utrom. So now we have a human Shredder, which is way better than Utrom in my opinion. Also, they made it much more interesting (at least to me) by making the Shredder female. Don't know why, but there is something specifically cool about female villains, they look like more capable of thinking up clever evil plans and striking by surprise than using brute force. So to me, now the Shredder is even more exciting than before.
