To me this was a pretty good episode. Some of it seemed kinda rushed though.

FACTS:
1. We found out the ghost guy was really one of the Mistics

2. Don was fully cured...and fully naked lol.

3. We found out what the item they needed to get was a pendant and what the point of it's use was for.

4. The outbreak is over now that the cure was spread throuhout the city

5. We found out the Mistics are planing to resurection the original Shredder.

(could someone please pin this)

I got a feeling this will be a big part of the Lost Season on DVD in the Fall. :D

We already knew what they wanted to get, and why. (We found out that the Heart of Tengu was a pendant.)

I hope the lost season deals with what is going on, because at this point, I don't care about Fast Forward. I want this dealt with.

Hmmm I must have misseed that in Part 1 when my power went off for about 30 seconds.

How did they cure him?

Purple liquid that turned into a gas. Leatherhead made it, and Bishop said he was even more brilliant than Stockman. Then said somehing about how she shouldn't have tried to disect him, it would have been a waste.

I liked it. I felt bad for Karai actually.

Woohoo, good ep!

Here's the stuff I noticed and liked...

1) Yes, they entered Foot HQ, but it wasn't with guns blazing. They only had to fight because they couldn't get out fast enough. And Leo actually took Mikey's advice (and followed his own plan) by NOT accepting Karai's challenge.

2) Nothing to complain about as far as animation is concerned. It wasn't flashy-good (as in spectacular battle scenes from past episodes), but it was good. And for a weekly TV show, VERY good.

3) The way they played with me the last five minutes:
"Augh! You're GIVING Bishop the medallion! But at least you get Don..."
"HA! The Mystics totally pwned you, Bishop!"
"CHAOS?! Man, can't these guys take up another hobby now they're free?"

4) Raph: [pleased] "Toys!"

5) How Leatherhead proved himself to be much more than an "animal." Enough that even Bishop acknowledged it.

6) So the Turtles DO have 6 plastron sections! Thanks, Don! *tosses him a towel* SO much better than just 4.

7) Just me and my dorkiness, but Raph was wearing the duffel bag this episode. I think it's a different one from Donny's, but still. *big grin* Yay duffel bags.

8) Casey. In general. The "You're the one who looks like a janitor" quip by April, plus his "old school" way of dealing with computers... ahh, yes.

9) The look on Splinter's face when Don emerged, normal again.

In fact, I was kinda happy as soon as I realized Don would emerge "naked," because I like when you can see their normal eyes... it's cute. I did want to give him a belt, though.

Not much to complain about overall, except Karai's VA still doesn't do very well at sounding "menacing." It brings images to mind of a fluffy kitten who thinks it's a tiger.

I did like the episode overall, but it seemed during the first 5 minutes of the show, the lip syncing was a bit weird? Minor annoyance. Yay for Don returning and returning nakey :)

Anyways I liked that episode but I had kinda already figured out what was going to happen once I put Karai and artifact togther.

I enjoyed that episode a lot, but even more so cant wait for next weeks episode. Do you think that the whole ressurecting the original shredder thing is gonna all happen next weekend, or do you think this story will continue on over into the season after fast forward?

The Gamera Don saga of the show has wierd pasing. When he was first mutated it seemed a bit slow, but the rest seemed a bit rushed. The fact they came up with the antidote so quickly kinda seemed a little bit anticlimactic. Guess that's cuz they wanted Don for the season finalie.

Anyway, I LOVE how Leatherhead came to the rescue. I love this new comic based Leatherhead, and not the Archie's comic one that runs around calling everyone an "Ut!! LIIIIAR!" (inside joke) or the old series one that hungered for Jumbalaya Gumbo cornpon Turtle pie (mixin' up too many cajun sounding words... shame shame shame.)

But then again, maybe the breaking into the Foot HQ was meant to be rushed. After all it did seem a little too easy (or should I say, "a little too Raph"), but that's cuz it was supposed to be. Plus I'm glad they revealed the cloaked figure in 2 episodes. Seriously... the Utrom Council drove me nuts until season 2.

But I'm disappointed that next week is the season finale. TMNT is one of the few cartoons that get me up Saturdays, along with the Emperor's new Groove (I loved that movie!) and Xiaolin Showdown...but that's constantly in reruns. And I do admit, Sonic X has finally gotten interresting again. I just wish they had more that 5 episodes of GI Joe, so they'd stop rerunning the damn thing week after week.

This was an interesting ep in that we now know what the mystics look like! I almost feel sorry for Karai tho. Now she doesn't have the mystics...and then Bishop was betrayed...HAHA!...But hey! Donnie's back!! WOOT WOOT! And thanks to Leatherhead (who's apperantly way smarter than Stockman) a cure was found!!

But oi...those Mystics (who resembled Atlantians somewhat) are gonna be trouble now. Should be interesting what all happens next week and who the new friends are and uh what a Chinese junk ship has to do with anything (perhaps the origin of the mystics?)

Im just wondering where Bishop's HQ is now that he destroyed Area 51 (why did he do that??)???

Oh and my fave quote goes to Leo this week:

"A wise man once said I've got a bad feeling about this.." - Leo

Only problem with that quote tho is too many people have said it in the SW movies. Which wise man is he refering to?? Gui gon??? Obi Wan???

Oh and when Casey bashed the computer it seems that the power went out in at least most of the city...WTF? :ohwell:

:teek:

Hoooooooo boy.

I was theorizing that the mystery cloaked guy was the original Shredder. Seems I was off, but in the same neighborhood, I guess.

Am I the only one out there who's being driven thoroughly INSANE by this conflict between the Turtles/Leo and Karai? I'm still cheering them both on! Or when they fight each other, I'm arguing with each. "Karai, don't do that to them, they're your friends! Turtles, don't do that to Karai, she's off her rocker!" LOL...

So... I mean... the season finale is next week, but it's not the end of the story (that's why I was panicking about all this story and not enough season left to show it in)! And yet they're going ahead with this next season, that has very little to do with this current storyline... I sure hope these "lost episodes" actually complete this arc. I'll be really surprised if they manage to cram the whole thing into "The Ninja Tribunal". What implications will this resurrected Shredder have on the Foot? What will happen to Karai?! (my question of the century, LOL) Will the Mystics succeed in bringing back the first one? Will the Mystics try to kill Karai? Will the Shredder try to kill her? Will the Turtles be on hand? Will they let it happen? WILL SHE SNAP OUT OF IT?! Will the Shredder try to kill the Turtles? Will Karai let it happen? Will the Foot become worse? Will the new Shredder have no interest in mortal affairs? Will none of that happen at all and I'm just asking stupid questions? :p You can't answer all that in one ep, can you?!

I was all grinning when Don came out of the containment unit back to normal... I'm such a fangirl sometimes.. On the other hand, I was afraid that Donnie's cure would be anticlimactic. These people are the masters of anticlimaticism. "Yay, Donnie's back. What's for dinner?" Group hug, at least?! Are they theorizing that teenage guys don't ever hug anyone? *blinks* I'm glad Leatherhead caught him when he fell though. :)

And I wanted to get a glimpse of what Don was thinking... how much does he remember? How awful was it to be trapped in a slavering raging beast? Did he get over his cold?

I was also theorizing that the title "Good Genes" may have been trying to imply that his system would eventually stablize itself, and start regenerating him back to normal. Was that what you were thinking, iris, when you said you had a theory? So much for that..

Heehee! Leatherhead and Donnie are smarter than Baxter! That just made my day for some reason! :D

6) So the Turtles DO have 6 plastron sections! Thanks, Don! *tosses him a towel* SO much better than just 4.*shrugs* You know it's just cuz they never made up a model sheet for gear-less Turtles. It'll probably keep changing, depending on who's drawing it. But I do like it better with 6.

In fact, I was kinda happy as soon as I realized Don would emerge "naked," because I like when you can see their normal eyes... it's cute. I did want to give him a belt, though.I don't wanna get any more fangirlish than I already am, but yes, I do like being able to see their eyes once in a while. :)

Not much to complain about overall, except Karai's VA still doesn't do very well at sounding "menacing." It brings images to mind of a fluffy kitten who thinks it's a tiger.LOL! Well, I think that's essentially the truth, too! She's just not evil incarnate material, even if she wants to be. :p

And all I have to say to all of you is this
I TOLD YOU SOAbout the mystery figure being a Mystic? Good call! I thought he was maybe the Shredder, myself, but being a Mystic made more sense.

Just what *are* the Mystics now, anyway? They look like aliens..

EDIT: Forgot to say... Karai felt Leo's presence. How close a connection is that? *blinks*

Other than a few parts being rushed, which is understandable given the time restraints, this was a very good episode. The end of the outbreak was just a tad too anticlimatic, seriously, the clouds clear and everything is back to normal? Sure...

It does make me worried about the Fast Forward arc that's coming up since it sounds like the set up in the next episode is more appropriate for what the Lost Season is sounding like. Oh well, looks like we'll just have to play the waiting game and find out.

They seem to have a psychic bond. They can sense each other or something. Perhaps this means they're meant for each other (in X-Men Jean and Scott had a psychic bond...course he cheated on her with Emma Frost... ).

Yeah, Donny's change back was a little anticlimactic; I agree... but how to make it not and still keep it within the episode?

Maybe have him emerge half-cured (*growl* "Yikes!") but pass out in Leatherhead's arms (like he did). Leatherhead looks him over and says he's still in the process of changing. The guys + Leatherhead and Splinter haul trash to the copter before the base explodes. In the copter, they could have Don draped over a couple seats, a little more "normal" than we last saw him. One of the guys brings him a blanket. Don shudders and changes the rest of the way back, then opens his eyes and weakly greets his brothers.

At least then it's not like "Golly gee, what happened, guys? Hope it wasn't too much trouble!" Luckily, the pacing didn't throw me off nearly as much in this arc than in Savanti's episodes. I'm still gonna buy this arc on DVD for sure.

Shame the signal from the Fox channel got so scrambled this morning. I was so looking forward to this episode. Sounds like I missed a doozy of an episode. Hopefully the channel comes through fine next week. I'd really hate to miss that one.

Yes, they entered Foot HQ, but it wasn't with guns blazing. They only had to fight because they couldn't get out fast enough. And Leo actually took Mikey's advice (and followed his own plan) by NOT accepting Karai's challenge. Makes sense too. By all rights, it sounds like the TMNT were bringing the fight to the Foot, so to speak (granted, I haven't seen the episode- not for lack of trying- but that seems to be the case). If Leo has no true reason to fight Karai, why bother? A nice little touch, showing just how far Leo has come from being the rather insane Ninja Turtle he was becoming following Exodus.

You and me both. I'm still wishing Leo would give Karai the Ancient One's card. So to speak. "Take two of these and call me in the morning. Oh, and bring some chocolate."

You can't answer all that in one ep, can you?!
They could try, though that could end up rushed. Then again, Exodus had a lot of stuff to deal with (and while I felt it was maybe just a little rushed) it did a good job of juggling it all. For the most part.

Not much to complain about overall, except Karai's VA still doesn't do very well at sounding "menacing." It brings images to mind of a fluffy kitten who thinks it's a tiger. LOL! Well, I think that's essentially the truth, too! She's just not evil incarnate material, even if she wants to be. :p
That's they way I've been seeing it. She's no where near as evil as Oroku Saki was. Granted, she'd have to start some huge interstellar conflicts to match up wtih all the destruction the Utroms said he caused in Exodus, but even on a smaller scale... the old Shredder would have been more likely to just kill April instead of walking into her shop and dropping off evidence of the Turtles' demise. He had no qualms about hurting, maiming or killing anyone who got in his way to further his own ambitions. Karai's at least kept her vendetta focused solely on the Turtles. And now apparently just Leonardo, judging from her more recent comments. Then again, she doesn't strike me at all to be one who craves power. That was Saki. He wanted power, destruction, death. You name it. Just look at his life's ambitions fulfilled in Same as it Never Was. For Karai, it isn't about world domination of the increase of her power. It's all just about revenge and honor for her. And for what has been shown, the Foot Clan hasn't done much this season save for attacking the Ninja Turtles. And, despite the Foot Mystics' claims, she's been much better about failure than Oroku Saki was. At least we haven't seen any of her hired help being punished like Stockman was (on that note, it would be nice to see Chaplan, if he's even working for the Foot; it'd be such a waste to not use his character again).

Then again, I could make the same argument for Bishop. Sure, his methods are suspect, but at least he has goals in mind. To protect the Earth from any threats by any means required in his eyes. He just goes to rather disturbing lengths to do that. But at least he can be nice, if that comment in regards to Leatherhead from this episode mentioned in this topic is anything to go by. Of course, his whole rant about Earth being better off if half the human population was wiped out in Bishop's Gambit was certainly an evil scheme. Though he's one to think he's doing it for the good of the world.

As it stands, Hun may be the only truly evil recurring antagonist at this point. Oh and Stockman, though he's held in check by Bishop.

Just what *are* the Mystics now, anyway? They look like aliens..
A question I've asked for a while. It is interesting to see just how important the Mystics have become. They've come a long way from being nothing more than hyped up thugs in Return to New York.

EDIT: Forgot to say... Karai felt Leo's presence. How close a connection is that? *blinks*
An interesting one to say the very least. It's either Cyclops/Jean Grey level stuff, or Vader/Obi-Wan style presence feeling.

GAH!!!! I can't believe no one brought this up upon readin these discussions! When I heard the Mystics say they were going to resurrect the REAL Shredder, I got all giddy because this means the WORMS OF MADDNESS episode is on its way! I can't believe no one else mentioned this!!! I have to give them credit, they did a hell-of-a job streching out the storyarch to make that episode happen!!!! I'm so freakin stoked to see this episode I've re-read the comics 2 times today!

I feel a bit used. I never thought that they would end the season so quickly after they took that LONG break in between eps. I'm actually quite saddened. This means no more reason to wake up early on Saturday mornings other than to maybe go on my morning jog... :(

This... ep.... RULED. Quite frankly, it was one of the best in the season (still not yet to beat the Master Yoshi ep). They had everything in this one: Deception, lies, cheating, lies, reunions, and the WHOLE gang was back! Did I mention a whole lot of lies? I loved it even though it felt rushed. Didin't matter so much to me... it was just fun and I got into it. That doesn't happen often.

as a side note: Lastson - I really like the eye shots for your sig! Kudos to you!!!

I had to post I don't care how must everyone ignores me even if I know what I'm talking about. I predicted everything today like I own the scrip to the show or something hmm...any way I hope people will stop being so rude to me and dismiss everything I say as over analyzing because seriously I'm usually right about this show...oh well all I can hope for is the best I guess and not get to stressed over this mess we call home. It was pretty obvious though that it was the mystics tricking bishop from what we had been shown in part 1. I guess Bishops not as smart as he thinks now since he seems to be a bit dumb founded after all of this it actually made me chuckle...I really do like Baxter being with him BTW.
I really liked part 2 it had everything I think.
I actually felt really bad for Karai I think she's seriously in for it now! And I bet she's gonna be ultra ticked off at the guys! Either that or this is what will bring her to her knees it already has so to speak.
Do you guys think the Mystics will destroy Karai?
Do you think she will come to terms with everything and help the guys out?
So Don seems cured now that's good I hope it lasts. What do you guys think?
Wow Baxter and Leatherhead working together again I don't know why but I like them together for some reason almost as much as I like the team of Baxter & Bishop.
I did find it odd though that Baxter helped them right after Leatherhead nearly killed him. Did anyone else find this odd?
I also loved Bishops remark about Leatherhead being smarter than Baxter haha that was great!
OK and was anyone else totally creeped out by the splitting of the Minitonka Mutant? That was some crazy animation!
The Changing of the Mystics was so awesome I had no idea they looked differently then we've seen them in the past I love that they are being included more!
I also really loved Casey smashing it up today and Aprils help in the tech department!
Anyone elses jaw drop at all the Foot Mystic stuff going on The real Shredder what does he look like I wonder!!!!
Well, next week is the season finally here comes fast forwards entrance!
Excited? I sure am!

At least then it's not like "Golly gee, what happened, guys? Hope it wasn't too much trouble!"Very good scenario. I do like that. Oh well. It wasn't bad the way it was, I just like a little more feeling put into it. Seems like they used to, and they've been backing off lately. Maybe it's just me. *shrug*

You and me both. I'm still wishing Leo would give Karai the Ancient One's card. So to speak. "Take two of these and call me in the morning. Oh, and bring some chocolate."LOL! I know... if he'd even be willing to help her. But there's gotta be somebody out there that'll shake her out of it! :ohwell: (Again, what about Volume 4? They're allies, if a little uneasy. Is it ever going to get to that point on this show?)

You have some very insightful comments about Karai's approach vs Ch'rell's. It's still all about honor for her, but her madness is causing it to be twisted into something horrible.

At least we haven't seen any of her hired help being punished like Stockman was (on that note, it would be nice to see Chaplan, if he's even working for the Foot; it'd be such a waste to not use his character again). No, I can't see Karai maiming one of her own. Shouting, a verbal berating, demotion, maybe, but not torture (at least I don't think so...). And I would like to see Dr. Chaplain again... he's a fun character. Thinks he's in a video game. ;)

An interesting one to say the very least. It's either Cyclops/Jean Grey level stuff, or Vader/Obi-Wan style presence feeling.

"I sense something...a presence I haven't felt since..."LOL, well of course I thought of that one. I'm hoping it'll turn out to be a little more positive than that. :p

GAH!!!! I can't believe no one brought this up upon readin these discussions! When I heard the Mystics say they were going to resurrect the REAL Shredder, I got all giddy because this means the WORMS OF MADDNESS episode is on its way!But... I figured that came out in "Bad Day", interpreted very loosely. But maybe you're right..

I feel a bit used. I never thought that they would end the season so quickly after they took that LONG break in between eps. Yeah, but the weird thing is, this season has the same amount of eps as all the others. It just seemed to fly by, though!

EDIT: more stuff...

I guess Bishops not as smart as he thinks now since he seems to be a bit dumb founded after all of this it actually made me chuckle...*nods* That did kind of strike me. He always seems to be ahead of the situation, even when it doesn't go as he planned. But this seemed to just stop him in his tracks. 'Bout time something did. :p

I really do like Baxter being with him BTW.They're a good team. And there's something to be said for Bishop's patience, putting up with a grouchy, "hang everything, I don't care" Stockman.

I actually felt really bad for Karai I think she's seriously in for it now! And I bet she's gonna be ultra ticked off at the guys! She already was... :goofygri:

Either that or this is what will bring her to her knees it already has so to speak. As long as it makes her realize she's being an idiot, and just let the past rest. And ask forgiveness for completely obliterating their home!

I did find it odd though that Baxter helped them right after Leatherhead nearly killed him. Did anyone else find this odd?I'm kind of thinking that Baxter is afraid of Bishop now. I think it really gave him a bad scare to be brought back from the dead (or whatever actually happened). If Bishop wants him to work on Don's condition, I think he would, just for fear that some other screwball thing would be done to him if he didn't.

yWe did see some Gas stations in the past with the foot logo on them though which I always thought was strange :) That's just Karai thinking outside of the box. Oroku Saki never dreamed of making the Foot Clan the next big thing in marketing. Foot gas stations, Foot supermarkets, Foot fast food joints. And then Karai can take it to the next level. Foot Clan-the T-shirt, Foot Clan-the Coloring Book, Foot Clan-the Lunch box, Foot Clan-the Breakfast Cereal, Foot Clan-the Flame Thrower. Saki would be so proud.

but just so ya know the foot gas station was shown when utrom shredder was still around ;)

Oh. Shoot. Well, learn something new everyday. Always a positive. I guess Saki either being responsible for (or taking advantage of) rising gas prices isn't out of character for him.

LOL! I know... if he'd even be willing to help her. But there's gotta be somebody out there that'll shake her out of it! :ohwell: (Again, what about Volume 4? They're allies, if a little uneasy. Is it ever going to get to that point on this show?)
I hope so. Granted, at every pivotal episode I think that status quo will take over. Thought it would happen with City at War. Then Shredder returned at the end. Thought it would happen with Rogue in the House. Then she rescued Shredder. Thought it would happen with Exodus. Ends with her not to happy with the Turtles. Then with Prodigal Son, but that didn't seem to last (or even begin). Though I got a feeling that it may finally come to pass with this season's big finish. Granted if it does, Fast Forward will put seeing the uneasy alliance on hold for a while.

Granted, considering how the Battle Nexus had ended up in Volume 4, showing the cartoon's influence (as well as the preview for the next issue of Tales of the TMNT) I have to wonder if Peter Laird is planning on putting Karai at odds with the Turtles to match up with the show instead of having Karai become allies with them to match up with the comic. Only time will tell...

No, I can't see Karai maiming one of her own. Shouting, a verbal berating, demotion, maybe, but not torture (at least I don't think so...). And I would like to see Dr. Chaplain again... he's a fun character. Thinks he's in a video game. ;) He certainly had his perks. His reaction to Saki being an alien was priceless. Certainly took it better than Hun.

As long as it makes her realize she's being an idiot, and just let the past rest. And ask forgiveness for completely obliterating their home!
Yeah, that was way extreme. Though I'm in sure she could gain Leo's forgiveness if she tried. Splinter too. Mikey and Don... I can't recall their opinions on Karai ever being voiced, but I figure both are levelhead enough to a least try and be allies, if leary about it.

Now Karai trying to get Raph and Clunk's forgiveness... That could take a while.

I do have to admit, though... I am looking forward to seeing what this new Shredder is all about. I won't lie, I didn't to much of Oroku Saki once we learned he was an Utrom. Though it wasn't too bad, I got over it quick enough. Rogue in the House proved that he could still be a good villain even if I didn't entirely like the change. Karai's been good as a human Shredder, but I also admit I never saw it lasting too long. And it would be nice to see her return to her old costume. The armor doesn't really seem to suit her, IMO.

But this new Shredder... so many possibilities. Could be a human, could be a demon... It should prove interesting. Though it'll probably mean the show's opening theme song will be changed again.

I should have not read the forums this morning before I watched the episode. It spoiled the surprises that happened in the episode. It was a good episode no doubt. So, next week is the last episode before Fast Forward, which is in the Fall.

Good Genes 2 was definatley not disappointing. Finally, Leatherhead goes through 3 whole episodes without "supposedly" dying. Plus, he saved Don.

The action was superb, and backed up by great animation, And when Raph busted in with that Foot Mech, that was pricless. And the way Bishop got duped was even better.

And the Foot Mysics have become just so damn cool. I love their real forms and I can't wait to see their next move. All I can say is, where are theyr'e action figures?

10/10, that's right, I consider it one of the best.

I don't feel this episode was rushed at all. Hell, I felt like they perfectly balanced everything in this episode. For one thing, do we REALLY NEED ANOTHER EPISODE OF THEM BREAKING INTO FOOT HEADQUARTERS!?!? It was short but sweet. People got beaten up, things blew up real good, and THE REAL SHREDDER!!!

I just love love LOVED the plot twist where Bishop actually keeps his word and makes good on his promise only to be the one who gets double-crossed.

This was in the thread for last week's ep:
I noticed that during the fighting scene when Karai demanded Leo to face her after retrieving the pendant, Leo was up to the challenge. I think he still feels a bitter resentment towards Karai. I thought he had gotten over it, but I think the scar is still there and it's not gonna go away.I think mostly because she's still out of it. If she regains her senses, I think he'd more readily forgive her. But she's not showing any remorse at this point.

I hope so. Granted, at every pivotal episode I think that status quo will take over. Thought it would happen with City at War. Then Shredder returned at the end. Thought it would happen with Rogue in the House. Then she rescued Shredder. Thought it would happen with Exodus. I still can't believe what they pulled with "Exodus". I was pretty sure she was going to help the guys, and that would be the turning point. And Karai was in the process of changing her mind and deciding the Shredder is rotten, but the whole scenario was completely interrupted (truncated, I wanna say) before she ever had the chance to think it through rationally, and it was all ruined. Boo.

Then with Prodigal Son, but that didn't seem to last (or even begin). Though I got a feeling that it may finally come to pass with this season's big finish. Granted if it does, Fast Forward will put seeing the uneasy alliance on hold for a while.I keep hoping, and it hasn't happened... I'm starting to give up on her. Maybe the writers have that in mind, and I'm supposed to, and they're gonna make it this big surprise. It would be a good way to end the season on a positive note. I hope that's what happens.. *nods emphatically* Even though it wouldn't be continued next season, I'd be happy it happened, anyway.

Only time will tell...Yeah, I thought of that, too.. it's definitely been making me nervous. And...that holographic battle with six Turtles was very disturbing! But they did imply that she may be under mind control and all that... but anyway, I know, I hope the show will match the comic, not vice-versa.

Leo (or April) to Karai: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate!*blinks* What? :goofygri:

I just love love LOVED the plot twist where Bishop actually keeps his word and makes good on his promise only to be the one who gets double-crossed.*nods* Once I got over the momentary shock of him announcing the base was going to blow, I was chuckling... he was actually rather civil. He gave them plenty of time to get out (good thing Don changed back quickly, though... but he probably timed the recovery of the other man, so knew it wouldn't take that long). "Pleasure doing business with you." I should have known he would do something like that... casual knowledge of where Area 51 is would be kinda compromising.

And when the Mystic repeated, "A pleasure doing business with you" when the Heart of Tengu was destroyed, I laughed. Bishop really did kind of walk into that one.

*grumbles* However, before the cure was discovered, Bishop was going to kill Don for messing the place up. Once that was taken care of, he could care less about the place. Nice.

A few things I want to bring up...

1. Why is seeing Don without his kneepads, elbow pads, bandana, and belt such a red-letter event? The Turtles are roaming around in their birthday suits 24/7/365 as it is! You call their outfits "clothes"?! People, they've been indecently exposing themselves since the show started!

2. What's with the sudden appearance of pupils in Don's eyes? What magical, pupil-eradicating effects do those bandanas of theirs have, anyway?

3. Perhaps I missed earlier debates on this subject, but just why is it that Karai has no reason to want the Turtles dead? Their actions in "Exodus" led directly to Shredder winding up on a prison asteroid. Had they let Shredder escape, the time-freezing Utroms could have dealt with the lunatic in about five seconds flat. I'm sorry, but if landing a father figure in prison for eternity isn't justification for a vendetta against those responsible, the Turtles have no right to be pissed at Karai for nuking the old lair.

As for this episode...meh. The cheese in this plot was rather thick, especially when we learned Don was dying...despite the fact that the Minnetonka Mutant character was alive many, many weeks after being infected and mutated. Nice plot hole there, methinks.

Raph's efforts at a distraction in the hangar bay proved pretty useless, didn't they?

Leatherhead's anti-Bishop dialogue was painfully dumb. He really needs to learn how to sling the insults better.

The new/actual forms of the Mystics are very, very cool, and I'm interested to see what they mean about the "real Shredder". Though I got the impression from what we saw that each of them can become the Shredder--didn't anyone else notice how there were multiple Shredders, and how their armor was colored similarly to that of the Mystics?

Out of curiosity, did anyone else wind up thinking, "Earth! Fire! Wind! Water! Metal!" after that preview was over? :P

What's with all this talk of next weeks episode being the last before Fast Forward? Don't we still have Insane in the Membrane to look forward to? Okay, technically it is the last, but you know...

Though with this season coming to an end I really do hope that Bishop sticks around as a character in some way. He's like the best kind of evil there is. Especially when he makes that remark to Leatherhead, you can tell he wasn't the slightest bit perturbed that he nearly killed him. That side of him is fine but I'd also like to see the better side of him more often. You have to admit that his intent to clean up the city was pretty noble, well it would have been had it not been his fault:roll: . My point is that I could see his character doing the same thing even if it wasn't his fault.

1) I'm not a squealing fangirl (ex: OMG Donny's naked! lol <3) but I do like to see their actual eyes once in a while. Has nothing to do with the belts/pads. But that leads me into...

2) Obviously it's the same special material as Batman's (and half the world's comic heroes') masks. :P

And I agree... sometimes the dialogue will get a bit cheesy. But I wonder how hard that is to escape, given the subject. I tend to ignore it anyway and look at character interactions (aka, not what they say, but what they mean), so...

Memo to Bishop: BOOYAH!!! So owned. Goongala!!!

I liked this episode all the way through. But dude, Mike, you have to work on your moving-out-of-the-way-of-the-enemy's-fatal-blow manuever!

Quote that's sticking with me... Stockman: "Back-seat scientist!"
BWAHHAHAHAHA... Ok, probably just me. Stockman's egomaniacal sciencey outrage is like candy to me.

Yes! Leatherhead > Stockman :: Donatello >> Stockman! :P

These people are the masters of anticlimaticism. "Yay, Donnie's back. What's for dinner?" Group hug, at least?! Are they theorizing that teenage guys don't ever hug anyone? *blinks*

They can't hug him... he's NAKED!

I'm good with the whole InstaCure deal. I think we've had enough angst and a miracle was about due.

I was also theorizing that the title "Good Genes" may have been trying to imply that his system would eventually stablize itself, and start regenerating him back to normal. Was that what you were thinking, iris, when you said you had a theory? So much for that.

I was right! Insofar as they didn't disprove me. ;) But since they didn't go into it, it's kind of useless to do so now. I wonder if Don or Leatherhead will comment next week?

Next week looks killer!

Karai felt Leo's presence. How close a connection is that? *blinks*

Yeah dude. What the-- Karai is psychic now? Or does Leo just need a bath?

Karai's voice irks me. I wanna slip the girl a special lozenge and tell her to relax. But she does sound like an ineffectual baddie who's trying too hard to fill Dad's shoes.

~Alouicious

I agree, I don't understand why they suddenly have pupils but that is how they have always been drawn. In the past, when they are without their bandanas, their pupils are apparent. Personally I would like to see more episodes in which the creators draw the turtles "naked."
I don't know why, but I think it would be cool to see the turtles gear up, picture it.

Camera fades in to reveal raph sleeping. His eyes slowly open and he yawns, streches, and gets up. He walks toward the closet where he placed his wrist bands, knee pads, and elbow pads the night before. "Naked," Raph bends down and slips on his knee pads, then he proceeds to put on his elbow pads. Next he wraps his wrists and reaches for his bandana. We have a view of him from behind tying it. When he is fully "dressed" he turns around, pupil-less.

Just something that I think would be cool.

This was just the first time it was obvious to me. *pwned by Buslady* Just made me happy, is all. ;)

Only thing that bothered me was the insta-cure, both on Don and on the mutants in the city. They could have made that better. I mean, this thing should at least last for 10-15 seconds. It's not magic...

The new Mystics look is awesome, I'm really looking forward to the real Shredder... in Season 6.

I'm just wondering... Do you guys think that the next episode will have some kind of connection to Fast Forward Arc? I mean, I know this has been discussed already, but I was wondering...

Maybe at the very end, through a deus ex machina moment the TMNT is thrown 99 years into the future?

THen the entire season would be about them getting back to their own time, then that's where the lost season could possibly start?

It's just an idea, because even though I know 4kids ordered the lost season to be scrapped, I just can't see the writers simply stopping the current story and progressing with Fast Forward... I have a feeling the seasons will flow into each other somehow. Maybe the waters will be rough, but they'll float into each other.

What are you talking about? Those Minnetonka Mutant are regular animal/man mutated by Bishop's whacky UFO slime, while Donny - who's ALREADY MUTATED by the Utrom mutagen - is reacting violently to a new mutagen in his blood. It sounds pretty plausible to me. The Minnetonka Mutant is just that, a simple mutant that engulfed some guy. The guy the mutant engulf is a normal human being. Donny has become a double mutant. Donny is a mutated mutant... You could say he's a Teenage Mutated Mutant Ninja Turtle.

3. Perhaps I missed earlier debates on this subject, but just why is it that Karai has no reason to want the Turtles dead?I'll answer with my own numbers. :)

1. They are (were) her friends. One doesn't usually want one's friends dead. :goofygri:

2. She saved their lives, and almost lost her own life for it. Isn't it a waste for her to want to kill them now?

3. It wasn't their fault, technically. I know, technicalities mean little when you're distraught, but you'd think her sense of honor would prevent her from taking it out on them.

4. Well... it's the principle of the thing! :p

As for this episode...meh. Leatherhead's anti-Bishop dialogue was painfully dumb. He really needs to learn how to sling the insults better. In my experience, intellectuals aren't necessarily witty, or imaginative with words. :goofygri:

Maybe not, but that was the impression I had.

It's like comic book code to have your pupils not shown when you're wearing your mask. It's like a major give away for identities. As for the explination for the turtles: Laird once said that he was glad that this series showed the turtles how they originally had drawn them; white slits with the bandanas on, pupils with them off. For Proof of this, please see TMNT #2 vol 1. When Raph and Mikey are sparring, they have their bandanas on - Slits. Leo is sitting on the couch, nothing on - Pupils.

Actually, it goes way further back than the Golden Puck - like in the very first season. Remember the story recap episode where they showed the Turtles recapping what happened so far? They were shown on Casey's farm training with their masks off, while Mikey's playing with his "Gamedude." That was the first ep where we saw them. Not to mention they had pupils as kids. I think that's the point now, Karai is a joke compared to Saki. She trying to be as bad as her father, but isn't doing a really good job at it. 4 reasons...

1. She should have sent some people to make sure the Turtles and Splinter were dead in Scion of the Shredder.

2. She wouldn't have given up when Leo, Mikey, and Raph swiped the amulet from her.

3. She would command better respect from the Foot Mystics.

4. She wouldn't have lost to Leo so easily.

She's so obsessed with destroying the TMNT she's become more like...OS Shredder. Once she teams up with an Alien brain, her downward spiral will be complete.

I DID sort of like that they gave more spotlight to Leatherhead in this arc. He was kind of the hero in this one, with Donnie unable to make a cure Leatherhead had to step up to the plate.

Oh now I really gotta go and get this mess fixed up. *glares at Iris*

Heh. You've got... red... on you? *hands Doppleganger a towel*

Leatherhead was really good in this arc. I wonder if he'll be sticking around at all?

I am really curious about what's going to happen with Karai... if she doesn't just fade ineffectually away. And we've only got one ep to go for this season? :p

I'll answer with my own numbers. :)

1. I wouldn't say they were ever friends. Comrades-in-arms, maybe, but never friends.

2. Considering the effects their meddling had, no, a little revenge isn't out of the question.

3. If the Turtles hadn't meddled, the end result of Shredder's banishment would have probably been the same, but Karai would be able to place blame where it belongs--namely, with the Utroms. The Turtles meddled, and as far as Karai's concerned, they were sent by the Utroms to stall her father as long as possible, so the Utroms could move into position to do that time-freezing trick and capture everyone.

Yeah, but that guy didn't have TCRI mutagen already in his bloodstream. The two mutagens were making each other do crazy things to Don's body, and breaking it down.

That sounds like a good argument at first, but then I thought about it a little more and came up with this:

So, uh, why's the TCRI mutagen still floating around in their bloodstreams? It's been almost two decades. And if it was, shouldn't it still be screwing with their DNA?

Also, why in God's name would someone who's as genetically fubar as the Minnetonka Mutant be more stable than one of the Turtles? Sure, the Turtles have already been mutated, but the new mutagen is acting on only their bizarre genetic structure. In the case of the Minnetonka Mutant, it's acting on a mix of AT LEAST human and cockroach DNA. God only knows what else was thrown into that particular genetic cocktail.

And as long as I'm being a nitpicky and annoying little putz...what the heck was up with the Allosaurus/Tyrannosaurus-like head that mutant Don grew? I know that was inspired by what happened to Raph in the comics. I just don't get where they came up with that one.

 These are some of the more plausible parts, IMPO. But to your first question, it does make sense. And to your second, who knows? Maybe that's how it works.

I didn't have the opportunity to read these comic books, but I have a related question for anyone who has:Did Raph get bitten by a vampire to turn into into GameraRaph in the books?

*looks up "fubar"*
:teek:
Ooooo...... :)

Did Raph get bitten by a vampire to turn into into GameraRaph in the books?

Not exactly sure if they're actual Vamps. but yes... Raph became Gameraph after the bite from the "vampires" caused the mutagen in his bloodstream to activate, causing the secondary mutation.

See the Mutagen is always there. It never left them. Even in the original series near the end the mutagen was going wakko and causing secondary mutations.

I'm guessing the 4 eyes talking to the Ancient One were the shredders??

This episode was real cool, but I definatly don't think they can wrap everything up in one episode on saturday...that would be lame if the "real" shredder(s) get beat in one episode.

And I guess nobody is as immature as me, cause I definatly lol'ed when Karai kneeled with her legs spread and said GIVE IT TO ME, NOW!!!

I think that's the point now, Karai is a joke compared to Saki. She trying to be as bad as her father, but isn't doing a really good job at it.

She's still a newbie Shredder though. Saki had a lot more experience than her.
She's also only human and doesn't have the physical strength that the Utrom Shredder had.

I KNEW Shredder wasn't the real Shredder. It all played out pretty much how I said it would. I wonder though like you guys said if it will carry over. Or maybe the "real Shredder" Will zap them into the future. Cause the show goes a ways into the future and none of them have aged any...

it wasn't Carter who took the old school tmnt to the future.
It was Landor & Marick....2 kids who hated Dregg for what he did to earth and came back to the past to get the modern day tmnt and future tmnt to stop Dregg.
I still don't care what anyone says I loved the Red Sky episodes I just wish they would have lasted a bit longer.

Well what I ment was a tag along side kick. I remember that episode cause I just saw it recently "Carter The Enforcer" I believe it was called. Right now I'm on "Turtles To The Second Power" in my watching of Red Sky. I still want to know what happens to Shredder and Krang....

He just seems like that kind of character. He's a kid so he will probly be the smart kid that the TMNT don't listen to because he's a kid and then he ends up saving them and then they start listening to him.

I just feel like we got another Zach here. I won't mind Cody if he doesn't get involved with the fights. But the second I see him running out to save the TMNT I'm going to be pissed.

Now that might not happen*And I hope to God it won't* But I have this feeling that it will.

Give the kid a chance man.If he feels the way I do about TMNT, it's probably because he would be a random character jumping in and stealing the spotlight. It's "Ninja Turtles," not "Ninja Turtles and Their Dorky Non-Ninja Friend Who Can Somehow Save Their Butts."

Personal opinion. I think the writers of this show have the ability to pull the overall concept off, the question is "will they?" Me, I'm gonna wait.

Only one episode... yeesh, I want to see this story go on! I'd rather see it developed to a decent resolution and THEN go Fast Forward. This "real Shredder" stuff is so intriguing.

That happened in "Reflections", which was a season TWO episode. And might I add that it was no doubt (to me, anyway) the episode with the ABSOLUTE BEST animation in the ENTIRE seires.

I believe the first pupils seen were in the alternate ending of The King. Raph comes out of shower without his mask on.
