Good Genes: Part 2

To me this was a pretty good episode. Some of it seemed kinda rushed though.

FACTS:
1. We found out the ghost guy was really one of the Mistics

2. Don was fully cured...and fully naked lol.

3. We found out what the item they needed to get was a pendant and what the point of it's use was for.

4. The outbreak is over now that the cure was spread throuhout the city

5. We found out the Mistics are planing to resurection the original Shredder.

I got a feeling this will be a big part of the Lost Season on DVD in the Fall.

We already knew what they wanted to get, and why. (We found out that the Heart of Tengu was a pendant.)

I hope the lost season deals with what is going on, because at this point, I don't care about Fast Forward. I want this dealt with.

Purple liquid that turned into a gas. Leatherhead made it, and Bishop said he was even more brilliant than Stockman. Then said somehing about how she shouldn't have tried to disect him, it would have been a waste.

Woohoo, good ep!

Here's the stuff I noticed and liked...

1) Yes, they entered Foot HQ, but it wasn't with guns blazing. They only had to fight because they couldn't get out fast enough. And Leo actually took Mikey's advice (and followed his own plan) by NOT accepting Karai's challenge.

2) Nothing to complain about as far as animation is concerned. It wasn't flashy-good (as in spectacular battle scenes from past episodes), but it was good. And for a weekly TV show, VERY good.

3) The way they played with me the last five minutes:
"Augh! You're GIVING Bishop the medallion! But at least you get Don..."
"HA! The Mystics totally pwned you, Bishop!"
"CHAOS?! Man, can't these guys take up another hobby now they're free?"

4) Raph: [pleased] "Toys!"

5) How Leatherhead proved himself to be much more than an "animal." Enough that even Bishop acknowledged it.

6) So the Turtles DO have 6 plastron sections! Thanks, Don! *tosses him a towel* SO much better than just 4.

7) Just me and my dorkiness, but Raph was wearing the duffel bag this episode. I think it's a different one from Donny's, but still. *big grin* Yay duffel bags.

8) Casey. In general. The "You're the one who looks like a janitor" quip by April, plus his "old school" way of dealing with computers... ahh, yes.

9) The look on Splinter's face when Don emerged, normal again.

In fact, I was kinda happy as soon as I realized Don would emerge "naked," because I like when you can see their normal eyes... it's cute. I did want to give him a belt, though.

Not much to complain about overall, except Karai's VA still doesn't do very well at sounding "menacing." It brings images to mind of a fluffy kitten who thinks it's a tiger.

I did like the episode overall, but it seemed during the first 5 minutes of the show, the lip syncing was a bit weird? Minor annoyance. Yay for Don returning and returning nakey

Anyways I liked that episode but I had kinda already figured out what was going to happen once I put Karai and artifact togther.

I enjoyed that episode a lot, but even more so cant wait for next weeks episode. Do you think that the whole ressurecting the original shredder thing is gonna all happen next weekend, or do you think this story will continue on over into the season after fast forward?

The Gamera Don saga of the show has wierd pasing. When he was first mutated it seemed a bit slow, but the rest seemed a bit rushed. The fact they came up with the antidote so quickly kinda seemed a little bit anticlimactic. Guess that's cuz they wanted Don for the season finalie.

Anyway, I LOVE how Leatherhead came to the rescue. I love this new comic based Leatherhead, and not the Archie's comic one that runs around calling everyone an "Ut!! LIIIIAR!" (inside joke) or the old series one that hungered for Jumbalaya Gumbo cornpon Turtle pie (mixin' up too many cajun sounding words... shame shame shame.)

But then again, maybe the breaking into the Foot HQ was meant to be rushed. After all it did seem a little too easy (or should I say, "a little too Raph"), but that's cuz it was supposed to be. Plus I'm glad they revealed the cloaked figure in 2 episodes. Seriously... the Utrom Council drove me nuts until season 2.

But I'm disappointed that next week is the season finale. TMNT is one of the few cartoons that get me up Saturdays, along with the Emperor's new Groove (I loved that movie!) and Xiaolin Showdown...but that's constantly in reruns. And I do admit, Sonic X has finally gotten interresting again. I just wish they had more that 5 episodes of GI Joe, so they'd stop rerunning the damn thing week after week.

This was an interesting ep in that we now know what the mystics look like! I almost feel sorry for Karai tho. Now she doesn't have the mystics...and then Bishop was betrayed...HAHA!...But hey! Donnie's back!! WOOT WOOT! And thanks to Leatherhead (who's apperantly way smarter than Stockman) a cure was found!!

But oi...those Mystics (who resembled Atlantians somewhat) are gonna be trouble now. Should be interesting what all happens next week and who the new friends are and uh what a Chinese junk ship has to do with anything (perhaps the origin of the mystics?)

Im just wondering where Bishop's HQ is now that he destroyed Area 51 (why did he do that??)???

Oh and my fave quote goes to Leo this week:

"A wise man once said I've got a bad feeling about this.." - Leo

Only problem with that quote tho is too many people have said it in the SW movies. Which wise man is he refering to?? Gui gon??? Obi Wan???

Oh and when Casey bashed the computer it seems that the power went out in at least most of the city...WTF?

I was theorizing that the mystery cloaked guy was the original Shredder. Seems I was off, but in the same neighborhood, I guess.

Am I the only one out there who's being driven thoroughly INSANE by this conflict between the Turtles/Leo and Karai? I'm still cheering them both on! Or when they fight each other, I'm arguing with each. "Karai, don't do that to them, they're your friends! Turtles, don't do that to Karai, she's off her rocker!" LOL...

So... I mean... the season finale is next week, but it's not the end of the story (that's why I was panicking about all this story and not enough season left to show it in)! And yet they're going ahead with this next season, that has very little to do with this current storyline... I sure hope these "lost episodes" actually complete this arc. I'll be really surprised if they manage to cram the whole thing into "The Ninja Tribunal". What implications will this resurrected Shredder have on the Foot? What will happen to Karai?! (my question of the century, LOL) Will the Mystics succeed in bringing back the first one? Will the Mystics try to kill Karai? Will the Shredder try to kill her? Will the Turtles be on hand? Will they let it happen? WILL SHE SNAP OUT OF IT?! Will the Shredder try to kill the Turtles? Will Karai let it happen? Will the Foot become worse? Will the new Shredder have no interest in mortal affairs? Will none of that happen at all and I'm just asking stupid questions? :p You can't answer all that in one ep, can you?!

I was all grinning when Don came out of the containment unit back to normal... I'm such a fangirl sometimes.. On the other hand, I was afraid that Donnie's cure would be anticlimactic. These people are the masters of anticlimaticism. "Yay, Donnie's back. What's for dinner?" Group hug, at least?! Are they theorizing that teenage guys don't ever hug anyone? *blinks* I'm glad Leatherhead caught him when he fell though.

And I wanted to get a glimpse of what Don was thinking... how much does he remember? How awful was it to be trapped in a slavering raging beast? Did he get over his cold?

I was also theorizing that the title "Good Genes" may have been trying to imply that his system would eventually stablize itself, and start regenerating him back to normal. Was that what you were thinking, iris, when you said you had a theory? So much for that..

Heehee! Leatherhead and Donnie are smarter than Baxter! That just made my day for some reason!

*shrugs* You know it's just cuz they never made up a model sheet for gear-less Turtles. It'll probably keep changing, depending on who's drawing it. But I do like it better with 6.

About the mystery figure being a Mystic? Good call! I thought he was maybe the Shredder, myself, but being a Mystic made more sense.

Other than a few parts being rushed, which is understandable given the time restraints, this was a very good episode. The end of the outbreak was just a tad too anticlimatic, seriously, the clouds clear and everything is back to normal? Sure...

It does make me worried about the Fast Forward arc that's coming up since it sounds like the set up in the next episode is more appropriate for what the Lost Season is sounding like. Oh well, looks like we'll just have to play the waiting game and find out.

They seem to have a psychic bond. They can sense each other or something. Perhaps this means they're meant for each other (in X-Men Jean and Scott had a psychic bond...course he cheated on her with Emma Frost... ).

Yeah, Donny's change back was a little anticlimactic; I agree... but how to make it not and still keep it within the episode?

Maybe have him emerge half-cured (*growl* "Yikes!") but pass out in Leatherhead's arms (like he did). Leatherhead looks him over and says he's still in the process of changing. The guys + Leatherhead and Splinter haul trash to the copter before the base explodes. In the copter, they could have Don draped over a couple seats, a little more "normal" than we last saw him. One of the guys brings him a blanket. Don shudders and changes the rest of the way back, then opens his eyes and weakly greets his brothers.

At least then it's not like "Golly gee, what happened, guys? Hope it wasn't too much trouble!" Luckily, the pacing didn't throw me off nearly as much in this arc than in Savanti's episodes. I'm still gonna buy this arc on DVD for sure.

Shame the signal from the Fox channel got so scrambled this morning. I was so looking forward to this episode. Sounds like I missed a doozy of an episode. Hopefully the channel comes through fine next week. I'd really hate to miss that one.

Makes sense too. By all rights, it sounds like the TMNT were bringing the fight to the Foot, so to speak (granted, I haven't seen the episode- not for lack of trying- but that seems to be the case). If Leo has no true reason to fight Karai, why bother? A nice little touch, showing just how far Leo has come from being the rather insane Ninja Turtle he was becoming following Exodus.

They could try, though that could end up rushed. Then again, Exodus had a lot of stuff to deal with (and while I felt it was maybe just a little rushed) it did a good job of juggling it all. For the most part.

That's they way I've been seeing it. She's no where near as evil as Oroku Saki was. Granted, she'd have to start some huge interstellar conflicts to match up wtih all the destruction the Utroms said he caused in Exodus, but even on a smaller scale... the old Shredder would have been more likely to just kill April instead of walking into her shop and dropping off evidence of the Turtles' demise. He had no qualms about hurting, maiming or killing anyone who got in his way to further his own ambitions. Karai's at least kept her vendetta focused solely on the Turtles. And now apparently just Leonardo, judging from her more recent comments. Then again, she doesn't strike me at all to be one who craves power. That was Saki. He wanted power, destruction, death. You name it. Just look at his life's ambitions fulfilled in Same as it Never Was. For Karai, it isn't about world domination of the increase of her power. It's all just about revenge and honor for her. And for what has been shown, the Foot Clan hasn't done much this season save for attacking the Ninja Turtles. And, despite the Foot Mystics' claims, she's been much better about failure than Oroku Saki was. At least we haven't seen any of her hired help being punished like Stockman was (on that note, it would be nice to see Chaplan, if he's even working for the Foot; it'd be such a waste to not use his character again).

Then again, I could make the same argument for Bishop. Sure, his methods are suspect, but at least he has goals in mind. To protect the Earth from any threats by any means required in his eyes. He just goes to rather disturbing lengths to do that. But at least he can be nice, if that comment in regards to Leatherhead from this episode mentioned in this topic is anything to go by. Of course, his whole rant about Earth being better off if half the human population was wiped out in Bishop's Gambit was certainly an evil scheme. Though he's one to think he's doing it for the good of the world.

As it stands, Hun may be the only truly evil recurring antagonist at this point. Oh and Stockman, though he's held in check by Bishop.

A question I've asked for a while. It is interesting to see just how important the Mystics have become. They've come a long way from being nothing more than hyped up thugs in Return to New York.

An interesting one to say the very least. It's either Cyclops/Jean Grey level stuff, or Vader/Obi-Wan style presence feeling.

GAH!!!! I can't believe no one brought this up upon readin these discussions! When I heard the Mystics say they were going to resurrect the REAL Shredder, I got all giddy because this means the WORMS OF MADDNESS episode is on its way! I can't believe no one else mentioned this!!! I have to give them credit, they did a hell-of-a job streching out the storyarch to make that episode happen!!!! I'm so freakin stoked to see this episode I've re-read the comics 2 times today!

I feel a bit used. I never thought that they would end the season so quickly after they took that LONG break in between eps. I'm actually quite saddened. This means no more reason to wake up early on Saturday mornings other than to maybe go on my morning jog...

This... ep.... RULED. Quite frankly, it was one of the best in the season (still not yet to beat the Master Yoshi ep). They had everything in this one: Deception, lies, cheating, lies, reunions, and the WHOLE gang was back! Did I mention a whole lot of lies? I loved it even though it felt rushed. Didin't matter so much to me... it was just fun and I got into it. That doesn't happen often.

as a side note: Lastson - I really like the eye shots for your sig! Kudos to you!!!
