Beg pardon, Cure4AIDS (nice nick, btw), but they'll be repeated September 9TH, not the 10th. The 10th is on a Sunday. No biggie, though.

Anyway, I'm looking forward (pardon the bad pun) to seeing these. They sound interesting.;)

Peace.

Good you know what I hope it freaking does!
Why is everyone seriously complaining about them trying to keep the guys on TV...whine whine whine wa wa wa booo booo hooo lol.
Oh no the big bad (beetleborgs) corporations trying to make money off their characters and franchise oh no not that...lordy bee! It's the end of the world :P

Making money is all well and good, I think the problem lies when fans feel they've been sold out because there's no money in keeping an older fan base and therefore the series must lower it's standards and cater to a younger demographic. I know I'll watch, and probably buy the figures, but there are others who feel that the TMNT have been sold up the creek to make more money at the sake of alienating it's older fan base and at the lose of decent story telling.

The thing is that most fans including myself at one point being an old school fan even of just about every tmnt incarnation and then some don't really understand is that this isn't our TMNT as much as we want it to be.
I think allot of us are holding onto something to strongly.
TMNT is something for everyone and I stand behind them 100% as long as it keeps them around a little longer. Perhaps I'm just not as crazy about them that I want to send death threats to the people keeping them around.
I think everyone really just needs to wait to see the show before they start worrying and bashing it to high heaven.
Who knows many people could end up loving it I was really worrying about it myself at first then I said wait seriously it's just a cartoon and it's not that big of a deal when we have so many other things going on around us how the TMNT are drawn or where they go and what age group it's marketed towards should be the least of our worries.
If they (fox)/ Peter Laird wanted the cartoon to be an adult property he wouldn't have taken it to them as a kids show.
As much as many of us don't want to admit to it but allot of us are holding onto our childhood's way to much.
I'll also say this you say they feel like they are being betrayed by the show right...well how about this you stop supporting them and what good is that going to do..oh you guys think well that will show them I'm so smart well guess what thats the dumbest thing anyone could possibly do if you stop showing them you care about the characters no matter how they look and whatever else well guess what the guys are gonna go away for a very long time again.
And to me that's a very sad thing I do not want to see happen.
In closing I'll say I think allot of us need to stop being such big cry babies and grow up and stop hoarding the TMNT and let a new generation of fans grow up with them and enjoy them cause I think these kids of today are damn lucky to have this show it's the one I wish we had when I was growing up...only thing I'd do differently would be to add the Archie series into it all.

Serously, Playmates, add a few more joints to the non-Turtle figures and I'll buy the toys again. The first wave was *perfect*... why'd you have to go screw it up?

My view of it is: Laird says so, and as far as TMNT is concerned, Laird is God. So whatever he plans to do, I can live with it. It's his baby. Sure there are some things I don't agree with that he's done with-- or allowed to be done with -- the franchise, but in the end it doesn't really matter all that much. C'est la vie.

...so did anyone catch the "Fast Forward" promo on 4KidsTV yesterday? The promo only said it was premiering this summer, but the lines at the end got me a little worried:

*grooming robot shaves Raph*
Raph: "The future stinks."
Grooming robot: "No, that's your armpits."

Ugh. I very much hope that second line was added to the promo by the idiots at 4KidsTV and isn't in an actual episode..

Fast Forward is'nt anything like the Shredder/Utrom storyline, that was part of a lengthy arc, FF is a network-ordered diversion from the story they were originally going to tell, Laird only approved it to keep the show on the air.

Uh, yeah... I didn't think I had to spell it out for you, Richard. Mr. Laird knows how much creative control to sacrifice in order to keep the turtles afloat without alienating the fanbase. Work on your reading-between-the-lines skills, sport. Your grammar could use a little work too.

what you say actully isn't true.
It was said that this Fast Forward was to be the season after the lost season thats coming out on dvd.
So Laird didn't really seem to have that much of a problem with it.

...so did anyone catch the "Fast Forward" promo on 4KidsTV yesterday?

 No, unfortunately, I didn't...MAINLY because I was down at my aunt's last Saturday. I DID have my VCR set to record from about 6:58 AM to 11:05 AM, just in case, but when I got HOME later Saturday morning, I found, MUCH to my dismay and aggrevation, that SOMEBODY (most likely my youngest nephew, Noah, had gone in my room and changed the channel on my TV (I'm not fortunate enough at the present time to have a DVR, drat it, but MAYBE when we get the satellite back, as opposed to the darned cable that we've got NOW..........), and I wound up with 4 hours worth of that was on the Style Network!!! I was NOT a happy camper, TRUST me!

*sighs* Well, maybe they'll do it again THIS Saturday. I've got my VCR fixed the way I had it last weekend, my nephew won't be around, and I told my niece Shelbie to guard that VCR with her life! Now, if we just don't have a storm and the power goes out, which would wipe my settings out! THAT would REALLY suck!!!:P  :dead: IMHO.

Oh, and btw, if any of you are lucky enough to get THE TV Guide, check out page 11 of the June 19-25, 2006 issue. There's an article about Fast Forward there with pics of Raph and Dark Mikey. Just thought y'all might like to know that.

Fortunatly I record TMNT each weekend in case Im away so I er Fast Forwarded till I saw the preview. The cleaning bot had a bit of a feminine voice. Not sure who tho...but Raph getting a shave was just weird...course after the bot shaved him she combed his head...*lol*...it reminded me of Looney Tunes a bit.

But NYC of the future looks like Gotham City from Batman Beyond.....There's apperantly 3 headed aliens too.

I don't think it'll be great, myself... I'm hoping somehow it's not as bad as we all fear...

but I think the fact that the plot is gimicky is what's driving a lot of fans off. But then again, I got used to the Lord Dregg episodes on the first season 80's DVD, so maybe I'll grow to get used to this. I just hope it does well to the extent that they'll perhaps make a few more present day story lines in the future... which they probably won't.

Mr. Laird and Mr. Berger are both calling it "the fifth season", but it is in fact a spin-off. That means that it will retain the same history/continuity as the 2003 series, but it is not actually an extension of said series. The modified show title is a dead give-away. So, why they don't just drop some of that extra Winx or Do Re Mi to show both the lost season and FF at the same time seems like a rather Knuckle-head idea to me. Actually, since Sonic X is finished for good now, FF could take that spot, and they could finish the 'Tribunal' arc in the regular slot. But, it's too late for that now.

Since the first ep of "Fast Forward" (new season OR new series (and I caught that, too)) is coming up on the 29th of this month, why don't we just wait til we see IT, and THEN the next two eps BEFORE a bunch of us pass judgement on the whole thing? Who knows? It might just be fun, and the best thing that ever happened to the guys. Me, I'M gonna watch it AND enjoy it. Heh, heck, my DVD recorder is already primed for those first three eps! Oh God... I've tried to be optimistic, but EWWWW @ that theme song. UGH! They were better off asking Vanilla Ice to come up with something. WTH is this? EW!

Anyway, I can't judge an entire series on one preview. They're obviously trying to attract kids with that promo, so I'm going to let it slide. I'm a little more relieved by the fact that they're recognizing Fast Forward as its own series, so in my mind, I've made peace with it being season one of Fast Forward and not season five of the TMNT series. As I've said in the past, we're seeing the Turtles in an environment they've never been in before. We're going to see them actually walk among the streets without a care, and we're going to see how sharp their ninjutsu skills are, even in very awkward conditions for them. I'm excited, still... not as excited as I was when I first heard about Fast Forward, but the optimism is still there.

Who cares about the TMNT walking around freely? Honestly, who the heck cares about that? People are grasping at straws to defend this s*ite,

There not in a different environment, there on Earth, in some living cliche of a utopian future, fighting some stupid "darker" versions of themselves that look more generic than any original series mutant from the CBS years, and they have the typical "Teen ancestor addition" that kills a show dead instantaniously.

I do, considering that was something they didn't get to do before. Them being in "the way of the shadow" was always something I was used to. So seeing them in a change of environment IS something I'm interested in. Stop acting like people can't perceive things in a different manner.

The theme song wasn't as bad as I expected (with all the bad reviews it's getting here), but I'm disappointed. It's like what happened to Scooby-Doo a few years ago (though Scooby was never that serious in the first place). They are aiming this towards trendy little rugrats instead of the already established fanbase. Do we not fit into their choice demographic anymore? If that's the case, I just hope the turtles brought enough rope to hang themselves. Maybe they'll exclude FF when they revive the 2003 show in a few (5 or so) years like they did with Image's Volume 3. So, my optimism is shot, but I still don't think it will be as unforgivable as TNM. <http://www.geocities.com/cybertron143/venus_the_ho.jpg> Image submitted by a guy named Opticon... or Deceptimus Prime... I forget which. The Transformers movie trailer looks rediculous, but more interesting than the animated series (all 15 or so different series they had). <http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=5072> I guess it's about time for me to write more misoVenusian fics (please pardon my horribly confusing and hardly funny pun, but that means "Venus-hating").

Goliath Chronicles isn't canon (except for the first episode)...and from my understanding Fast Forward isn't canon either... so like Goliath Chronicles and Next Mutation (which isn't canon either) we'll be able to say... This ain't exactly the same show - at least according to 4Kids. It's sorta spin-off, loosely connected to the 2003 version. But we shall see.

But yeah, I concur. Everything that is approved by Peter Laird is automatically canon. Even Fast Forward and Next Mutation.

Even if everyone might hate it due to it being in the future. Atleast the the season after the 4th one will be released on DVD.(least that's what I've been hearing on these forums).

Just because Laird approves of it does'nt mean it's a great idea, or canon. (Original Series had to have been approved by the creators, and that for sure ain't canon)

You know how many people hate All-Star Batman and DKSA by Frank Miller? Or even April's origin by Laird himsefl? Whilst I don't neccersarily agree with them that dehumanising April was a bad idea, it's precisy the reason the weak "Pete approved it" excuse is'nt going to help Fast Forward's cause.

Saban approved of the first MMPR movie and that ain't canon either, so the defense of a creator approving something automatically making it canon is weak and redundant.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure only the Salkinds can say if Superman Returns is or is'nt canon, not Bryan Singer
or Richard Donner, and plenty of shows have been booted out of continuity if there utterly stupid (like "Zobmie Island" retconning the Scrappy-Doo seasons out of existence, and the live action movies kind of being the sequel to them by making Scrappy the villain)

The Transformers movie trailer looks rediculous, but more interesting than the animated series (all 15 or so different series they had).).

...Well somebody does'nt know s*it about good TF series and it sure as heck ain't me...

holy freaking crap I just took a listen to that new theme song. Just when I thought it couldn't possibly get any worse it did.
Seriously people want to sit around *cough Peter Laird* and rip on the old show but seriously atleast the old show I wasn't emberassed to rock out to the theme songs (all 3 versions).
I mean seriously even the next mutations theme song is better than anything we've heard sine Kevin Eastmans departure.
I love the line in the new show where Leonardo goes "Well it looks like we're here to stay!!" ahahahahahahaahah I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh.
I really am sorry if anyone likes this but I'm looking at the 4kids website and I just have to say I for one am not looking "Forward" to this show.

Goliath Chronicles isn't canon (except for the first episode)...and from my understanding Fast Forward isn't canon either... so like Goliath Chronicles and Next Mutation (which isn't canon either) we'll be able to say... Fast Forward? Isn't that a song by Kenny Chesney? As what I say whenever somebody mentions "Batman and Robin"... It didn't happen! LALALALA!

Oh yeah, I know it's not canon. :) And yes, outside an episode here and there I try to block it out.

My hopes aren't too high for this new season, the cheesiness factor is definitely there but maybe I'm trying to be optimistic. I'll watch it and give it a chance.

Excellent idea! :D Let's all wait until we see it before we attend its funeral.
I made another funny.

Does anyone dare dispute me that Fast Forward is the death of the new TMNT show?

Not at all, since I've been saying this since we first heard about it.

I've still yet to listen to the new theme song...

Jo Dawn

Who cares about the TMNT walking around freely? Honestly, who the heck cares about that? People are grasping at straws to defend this s*ite,

I do. I think it SUCKS that they're walking about. I like the whole 'away from society' thing.

But yeah, I concur. Everything that is approved by Peter Laird is automatically canon. Even Fast Forward and Next Mutation.

Not technically. Laird had to approve all the comics, right? And didn't he say that one of the volumes isn't canon?? So, I guess he can approve something and it not be canon. I mean, it IS his baby, and all.

....

Ok, and I listened to that theme song....

And I laughed really, reallllly heard. What is that?!

Due to the rules of the forum, I cannot say what I realy thought of it... But anyone wanting to know can contact me.

I for one couldn't give a **** about any of this. As long as it keeps kids interested and gives Laird the money required to continue printing the comics, I'm a happy boy.

Ugh... I'm actually looking forward to new TMNT eps in two weeks, but this whole theme song made me want to puke. At least the old-school theme song had substance and the '03 theme kicked ass. This one just makes me want to curl up and die at the fact that my Turtles who were once badasses have gone completely... Pop.

The movie can reel in Laird's bucks also, as will the Lost Season DVDs if released separtly, as would the original series DVDs.

So you see Fast Forward is'nt REMOTLEY needed.

As I said, so long as it keeps money in Laird's pocket, I keep getting comics I want to read. I'll give it a look in, if it's bad - it's bad, if it's not - it's not. Fact is, it's not out yet, the film's not out yet, the lost season isn't out yet - until people have seen enough of these shows/films to be able to judge them fairly I think people should just chill. Then, if they are terrible, go for it complain all you want - but as I said, so long as kids keep watching, the truest form of the TMNT continues, and I couldn't be happier.

Even if it starts betraying the very concepts of the "definitive" version

It's like "I don't care if Transformers: Armada sucks, so long as eight year olds are watching Transformers again", fans who don't care about the show whoring itself out to commercilism are ones that just irk me, because it means there giving up and caring little what the show has to do to stay on the air.

(and beleive me, in no way anymore is this version the truest nor definitive, comic adapatations are all well and good, but this became it's own animal during season two)

How did they get the go ahead for this? Fast Forward is nothing but a gimmick, and those never last long.

Pete's TMNT ongoing book and Tales are the truest form of TMNT. It started the whole thing, it's not an adaptation, the adaptation died two years ago.

Fast Forward is aimed at kids. We knew this from the beginning. Why ADULTS are getting in a stink over something that is specifically aimed at kids is beyond me. Fact is, I don't care what the show has to do to stay on the air. If I don't like it I won't watch it! Simple as that. If kids don't watch it, too bad - but if they do and if they buy the toys then booya Laird makes his money and the definitive version continues.

With so many fans of the original cartoons I can't believe people aren't more willing to give this show a chance - it hasn't even screened for god's sake.

So your saying those of us that have stuck through every version of the turtles from the orginal cartoon and Next Mutation are suppose to just say ah well I'm not the target audience, they only want kids not fans that have grown up with the turtles sence it first came out....

OldSchooler
07-19-2006, 01:40 AM
The fans who've stuck through all the previous incarnations SHOULD be able to stick through this without problem. If anyone was a fan of Next Mutation and is turning their noses up at this then colour me shocked and appalled.

This show IS a grab at a larger - WANING - youth fanbase. We know this, 4KIDS said this! They're definitely aiming it more at kids, if older fans want to watch it they can, if not they don't have to. If the older fans dig it - great! If not, too bad, but it's the kids this is being aimed at.

As a fan I think it's poor form, sure, I would much rather see the season we were supposed to get instead of this all new series, but obviously because of poor ratings and the waning fanbase, this is what we're getting. I'm over it, I'm waiting to see what the result is. If it's good, sweet, if not, tough - but my point is - at least the DEFINITIVE FORM, the progenitor for this whole thing is still going and will continue to if this show does well with it's TARGET audience (and if the older crew watch it too, even better).

Hrmm, guess everything's going 'rap' these days.

Really uninspired, awefully lame.

The lighter and funnier-than-ever series...

That remains to be seen, annoying that because of this development a cliffhanger from Season 4 of the non fast-forward show will be resolved only on DVD...

Glad someone said it before me, but I find the 2003 theme (and especially it's third remix) to be just as trendy and annoying as FF's theme. I wonder where that other one went. Didn't they have a different theme on the Toys-R-Us FoxBox promo disc? I have the MP3 somewhere, but I haven't heard it in years.

I'd rather they just play the regular theme song and add the words Fast Foward into it.

That was god awful, I mean god fricken awful. It ****ing sucked, it sucking ****ed, oh god no.
