So, I know it was said that the new toon will have some comedic moments, which is fine. But do you think the overall tone of the cartoon be darker, especially in the Return to New York area? And like in the comics, do you think the topic of death will be acknowledged? The foot soldiers appear to be human in this new show, and Leo and Raph have bladed weapons. I do wish that Cartoon Network had gotten the airing rights to it, as they don't mind getting their hands dirty with some of their shows (Samurai Jack comes to mind). Fox tends to be a little more family friendly.

This has been mine concern too. Well I guess there can be mention of death, IE Nagi's death is not shown in the comic, just Yoshis bloody fists. And again, Shredder's body exploded into pieces. Only part of his armor was left.

I hope they could do those, neither requires a graphical death. The beheading of Shredder at the end of Return to New York will most probably not get animated...

True, though it would be great to get that last shot in RTN where they are watching the city from afar with Shredder's helm on Leo's sword hilt.

Shredder's Funeral would be a great thing seeing animated... Sigh...

We'll see. I have a bit more hope. Two things I noticed initially that gave he hope was the fact that the turtles had no pupils (just like the comics). Secondly, those New York streets shots on the official site are the nicest depictions of the comic's feel I have seen. Thirdly (actually) the missing initials from the belts and the fact that thier knee and elbow pads are brown colored.

In other words, the only thing that goes back to the kiddy turtles is the colored bandanas, and I can live with that.

Yeah me too. And I too like the fact that they don't have pupils when their bandanas are on. It gives them that Mirage kind of look. Well it is clear that we won't get a straight conversion of Mirage in saturday morning slot, but it can be really enjoyable show nevertheless.

Definitely. And a modified version of those great stories is better than a silly shredder and a brain running around (even though, as a kid I still enjoyed them).

Same here. As a Kid I totally Loved the goofy turtles. But it is time to see the TMNT in their original form. And This show might be the closest thing that has ever been on screen.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the turtles make a comeback, and I do hope this means we'll see the original cartoon make it to DVDs in the near future.

The foot soldiers appear to be human in this new show

Mmh... I don't think so. I read that after Shredder pair up with cyborg mastermind Baxter, he creates robot soliders for him. The Purple Dragon gang seem to be the only fleshies of the Foot.

I got the impression that most of the Foot will be human. Some may use advanced technology, cybernetics, or even be robots themselves, made by Baxter, but most would be human. It's funny how people can read these things in different ways. Man, I so cannot wait until Feburary. :D

I guess I'm split on which I would prefer. With humans, you get the original intent of the foot clan. But with cyborgs, Leo and Ralph can slice and dice them and make it look great without worrying about mommy and daddy complaining to the network, and I want to see some great sword action.

Yeah from what I read the foot will be human. There was even one episode of some higly trained foot soldiers that have some sort of camouflage...

This is from official site :

"The Foot is a well-oiled organized crime ring, led by the Shredder. There are many different divsions of the long-lived and much feared order, from suit wearing corporate criminals to the costumed and deadly Ninjitsu warriors. There are also secret and deadly Foot, their knowledge of the martial and arcane arts making them far more lethal than you've seen in the past. The Foot are no longer mindless robot drones, but cunning and nefarious foes."

So this means the Foot ARE human.

i don't think the Purple Dragons are part of the foot, at least not in the beginning (shredder might entice them to join for all i know). they are probably just a side gang that the TMNT fight now and then and they might get entangled with shredder and try and kill him or something. just speculating.

Yeah as far as I know, There is nothing that connects the purple dragon to the foot.

In regards to the Foot = human or robot debate, I think it was this ep cap that made me think they were robots:

Episode Seven: "The Way of Invisibility"
Raph and Casey run into the Foot Tech Ninjas - a new breed of Soldier that is faster, stronger and able to make themselves virtually invisible. Raph is captured but Casey escapes to warn the Turtles of this new threat.

I guess one is bound to leap to conclusions with the very little info given.

Hmm... Wasn't it stated somewhere that Hun is Shredder's right hand man, but he was also once a member of the Purple Dragons? I remember him having tattoos for both the Foot and the PDs.

Well I read that far, and it sounds to me that the robot foot will have a guest appearance. I doubt they will have to battle the invisible foot for the whole season...

i don't remember someone mentioning that he was a part of the Dragons. but if so he may have rebelled and joined shredder.

I don't think there was anything written about that, just speculating about the tattoo. Well I don't think he is in the intro when purple dragon are shown...

Yeah, it says on the official site that Hun was a Purple Dragon before he joined Shredder.

It was stated in the Sneak Peeks at www.ninjaturtles.com

Actually here is the bio they wrote for Hun.

Hun is the commander of Shredder's Elite Ninja, the best of the Foot Ninja forces. Hun is a mountain of muscle with deadly Ninjitsu skills, and he's almost as feared as Shredder himself. The monumental man was taken in by Shredder when he was a child member of the Purple Dragon gang. After years of personal instruction from Saki, Hun is as formidable foe as the Turtles may face... save for Saki himself. Hun views Shredder as his father, and he would do anything that the villain requests.

And while we are at it, here is the bio for the Purple Dragons.

The Purple Dragons are the toughest street gang in the Big Apple... but smart they ain't. They are a fierce, nasty bunch of not-too-clever, anti-social hoods. The one factor that keeps the Purple Dragons on top is that they're connected. Thanks to Hun's early involvement in their gang and his association with the Shredder, the Purple Dragons thrive as the Foot's lower level manpower, handling tasks like shakedowns, protection rackets and other small-scale criminal operations.

I think this set everything straight.
