View Full Version : To Support or Not Support FF

I emailed Dan because I'm rather torn about watching FF to support TMNT, or not watching it to boycott the crap that's taken over what was a fantastic show. FF could be worse so I almost want to keep watching, but not if it keeps getting worse.
> If we don't support FF, do we risk loosing a 6th season?
If ratings and merchandise sales for FF are below expectations,
season six is very unlikely.
> If we do support FF, do we support a 6th season that continues in
> the vein of FF instead of returning 'home'?
No decision has been made in that regard, although more than likely,
FF would continue.
> What's the best way to get our opinions heard here? Do we just
> have to pray to the gods of ratings?
Ratings and merchandise sales will determine the series' future.
My decision... not watching it. I'll buy the Lost Season DVDs and hope that the contrast between those sales and the FF sales might give someone a hint that they had a good thing going.

It really doesn't matter for us, Dan is talking about the kids.
I'm buying the FF toys and the DVDs (when they come out) because I'm enjoying the show. However, if you're not, why would you waste your money buying stuff just to keep the show afloat?
If FF is a success then Season 7 will be another 26 episode in the future. The basic rule of business is if you revamp something and it's a success, (which depends on if ratings/toy sales improve) then you keep doing what you're doing. If FF bombs, then everything ends here.
There is no middle ground. We're not going to get the TMNT back in the present again.

Yes.
4Kids Home Video plans to debut the entire "Ninja Tribunal" story arc on DVD in early 2007 - the exact number of episodes is unknown at this time, but it will probably consist of 10-13. This action-packed adventure will not be aired on TV anywhere in the US by that time - so they will be "straight-to-DVD" releases (at least in the United States - at the moment we're not sure if they'll air anywhere else in the world, but it seems unlikely). We'll post more info about "The Ninja Tribunal" DVDs on the site as soon as we hear more news from 4Kids.
Of course that was written a while ago, now we know for sure it's 13 episodes and 4kids put it on demand.
We'll still get it on DVD most likely.

The Ninja Tribunal arc is the last measure of 2k3 Turtles we are getting. It's Fast Forward from here on out. Sad that this era had to come to an end. :(

A five season run, no matter how much Cubed will argue it, is'nt a failiure in any way shape or form, I'm fine with it ending on that number, counting the lost season as the fifth of course.

That's what I thought too. But why does it have to be in the future to get better ratings and sell more toys? Can't they bring them to the present and still be more kid friendly???
The only thing that irks me is no conclusion (thus far) to the Karai storyline, and Bishop and Stockman storyline, and what happened to Chaplin.
If those three could get tied up I'd be satisfied with an end to the TMNT.
If FF answers those questions even that is fine and I will continue to watch it.

Bishop is supposed to appear in Fast Foward at some point, he's in the credits.

Bishop's in the credits, or the man who suplies his voice is in the credits? Because voice over actors can be more than one character.

Bishop's name is listed in the credits with his voice actor because he is in the show. The actor just happens to also do Darius Dunn's voice as well.

I'm still hoping on the possibility that we may get back to the 03 roots. Dan has been wrong before (it's rare, but it happens). These are supposed to be 26 stand-alone episodes in that they're the only ones that are supposed to take place in the future. If the format sticks (more funny and not as dark) then let them continue to the present and keep a slightly funnier version.
Everyone's freakin out about nothing. We're 3 eps into the season and we don't know the outcome yet. I would say hold your breath and wait to see what the turnout is.

I agree. I like Fast Forward and that doesn't make me less of a fan of the TMNT. Of course, in my opinion it isn't half as good as 2K3, but it strangley reminds me of the original toon at some points. All these funny gadgets (mind reading devices and so on, there were plenty of them in the old TMNT), various types of aliens and robots and friendly laughing turtles create a similar atmosphere to the '87 cartoon. I know that many of the fans of the old show will want to shoot me for that, but that's how I feel it.
Bottomline is I'll continue to watch Fast Forward, no matter what. Hell, I'd watch each and every bit of the TMNT that we get, regardless of the form ;)

The original cartoon had tremendous humour, the humour in this series has always sucked, so that's never going to be FF's strong point, the original series did'nt have an irritating MENSA prodige running the family buinsess, the original series did'nt have bland villains
...God the comparisons to the original series are ridiculous at this rate, it's nowhere on it's level, and even sadder, I think some standards and tastes have been deliberatly lowered to enjoy it, I just do, nowhere in this world is even similar to Batman Beyond either, hell if BB was still on I doubt this would even be watched when compared to that.
This is, of course, your opinion and I respect that. But no matter what you think, Fast Forward reminds me of the old toon ;)

Maybe that's why I don't like it.
Anyhow, comparing old toon to new toon is a moot point. They're completely different. For different eras in the world. That's it.
Besides, liking or not liking FF doesn't make anyone less or more of a fan. We're all fans... just with different opinions.

Do you even know what the old toon was? It was a forth wall breaking and sarcasm ridden fun series with science fiction undertonings and minimum use of additional annoying child genius prodigys and had strong beleivable characters, FF does'nt have beleivable characters or settings.

The original toons didn't really pick up into what is 'generally' remembered as the classic toons until midway through season 3/season 4. Season 1 for the most part was great (the set-up arc especially) and season 2 of the original toon was pretty forgettable. It wasn't until they started bringing in all the mutants and newer villains that it really started to soar. I'm pretty sure that the haters of FF are still firing their guns too early. It's only three episodes in, and there are a ****load of cartoons out there that came good further in.

Yes, we know so much about the series from 3 episodes....Zarius I don't like it that much either. But you saw what the boardman said and all in all.
I'm not even going to tell you to give it a chance because I know regardless of if you like it or not I know your going to watch it.
I also wish you would stop jumping all over everyone who says they like Fast Forward or says it's like the old toon.
And I mean your being a bit hypocritical because you yelled at me for jumping on people for complaining about Fast Forward when the only reasons they basically gave was ugh I'm angry I hate little kids in ninja turtle show ugh!
Or I'm angry I hate the future I hate robots. Dark Dark Gritty Gritty nitty Gritty! I hardly find those to be valued opinions I actually have started ignoring them because I have hope for this. Sure it's not that great right now but it very well may get very good I mean we've only seen three freaking episodes!
I guess some times though I forget I'm rather old amongst a younger tmnt Fandom lol.
It's not really like the old toon man but they sure are trying right now. And to be honest I wouldn't mind but they need to hire a joke writer that's for sure lol.
Cause one thing I've hated from the beginning of this new toon is the jokes they are sooo lame.
I would really like to start a pros and cons of Fast Forward list so far that would be fun and productive I think and perhaps help the people working on the show instead of showing them all we do is bicker.

I just don't see the point in fighting over it is all we all are here why?
Why do we buy all of the comic books?
Why did we watch every episode of the 80's toon?
Why did we get up every Saturday morning in our teens/adult lives even with hang overs to watch 2k3 tmnt?
Why did "some" of us watch Ninja Turtles Next Mutation even if it's the worst thing ever?
Same goes for Image's TMNT?
WHY YOU ASK? BECAUSE WE FREAKING LOVE NINJA TURTLES!
And that's why I'm gonna keep watching Fast Forward until they Bring in a Female Ninja Turtle, Turn Donatello into a cyborg, And splinter becomes a blue floating spirit!
As the fan's used to say "Make Mine Mirage" Mirage indeed!

Ok, so cons are what: Cody, art style, Serling and lame jokes?
What are the pros? That we still have the TMNT? That since it's only 3 episodes in it may pick up story wise? Think of the first 3 episodes from past seasons. can we really judge the series on just 3 episodes?
I agree it's not as funny as the OT (If the 2k3 TMNT start breaking the 4th wall, I'm not sure how it'd work) or as action packed and character driven as the 2k3 series, but it's only just started.
But, as a refrence, I'm gonna post something that I've thought up....please take it with a grain of salt, as I'm not an expert but...
Batman: The Animated Series ended. Timm and company did Superman, but soon went back to the Dark Knight with a simplified art design, but similar story telling. Lasted one season.
X-men: TAS, changed art designs in the last season (also re-cast Gambit) but maintained decent storytelling (I cried at the end of Graduation Day). Ended soon after.
Gargoyles maintained the art style, but the stories slipped. Lasted what, 13 episodes?
See, it's not just TMNT and it's not just bad story or modified art design. I just hope TMNt can rise above it.

I happen to disagree the show got really boring what with Irma's love interest and boring crap like Phantom of the floxy(sp). As a kid I didn't even like any of the episode that fox played (Hah big surprise there hu?) Yea then CBS had those mutant ones they played during the weekend that just rocked. To me the show really sucked at the point of when Fox was just pumping out episodes because of how big the turtles got...both the show it's self as well as the animation really went down hill. I don't think it really came back until the CBS episodes.
And btw what's wrong with standing up for something you believe in you just as much an Apologist as anyone else I see on here. Unless your using this term to confuse people.
Because Sticking up for people being attacked is something I thought you stood for also but hell I could be wrong.
I mean Zarius not to get personal or anything but you pretty much the bully of this website and at times even I have been afraid to post my own thoughts on things because I don't feel like being told I'm this or that for liking something or having faith in something I love.
It's great and all that we all have different opinions but there is nothing wrong with someone who can justify what they're talking about.
Which I agree allot of people need to but as you, I, and just about everyone else here knows most people are lazy.
I'm not trying to say stop being this or that but seriously man some times you come off a bit harsh like you told me. and really when you step back and take a look at what you say to people only then can you realize what your doing.
and then there's the matter of Next Mutation's first three episodes which in some objective ways...was better, and that's seriously creepy
Lol I agree besides the Dr. Quease episodes of course. He was my favorite character on that show.
You would think Peter & the Crew @ Mirage would learn their lesson already with fox.
I mean let's see what has fox done to tmnt? Old Toon rushed episodes changed everything about the turtles basically almost from what Eastman & Liard wanted them to be..for so fast cash, Then we got Next mutation from fox oh yea real winner right there...and that was like 100% all fox there they still didn't learn their lesson, then we get 2k3 tmnt good but not the best it can be fox waters everything down and when the show try's to fight back they just use harder faster water namely fast forward Peter and the gang may finally learn a lesson here...I don't hate Fast Forward just yet..but it really all seems to be more about Fast Cash than it does Fast Forward to me in the end sadly.

Actually, it pretty much does, especially when you made that comment about it being better than the lost season and giving no explanation, you did'nt JUST say you liked it for no reason, you compared it to a depth ridden season for no reason, that's when you're going to get called out and grilled.

I've seen some of the TLS on demand and must say I liked what i saw, but I voted for forget TLS gimme fast forward. IMHO, TMNT Fast Forward is better than the Lost Season.

I can't stand FF...I can't sit through it.
I loved the 2003 series, and can't wait to see the Lost Season...then I will wait impatiently for the possible season sets that we might get (we better get them! And the eps better be in order!:x ).
As for comparing the FF series to the old toon...
I haven't seen a whole lot of the old toon (I'm not a huge fan of it; however, I am warming up to it) but I think it's a hellava lot better than this Fast Forward garbage (no offense to those who like FF...I just don't care for it at all)!
Even my sister agreed with me on that one (she's not as big a TMNT fan as me...but she was really pissed off when she saw FF and heard that we're not getting the good show back)! She's only seen 5 eps of the old toon and she thinks it's much better!

I don't understand why he's questioning my opinion. Its like i'm writing an essay or opinion paper for him.

Can we just drop the subject and not argue about it anymore? I didn't bash the 2003 series, i like it too but i favor FF over it.

I've talked to some younger viewers, and they seem to be watching more of the superior original cartoon than the present series, Fast Forward included, due to the influcene of their parents. I would'nt say that's ignorance on their part either, given the original is the definitive no matter how true to the comics this one was and is in every way more suitable and appealing to the demograhpic. FF plays much like a lot of what Spongebob and Jimmy Neutron does and seems to think it knows what those demographics want.

Networks should take the hint and begin airing old episodes of the original TMNT again. That would've been a better way to drum up enthousiasm for the property and the new movie, rather than scrap TMNT 2K3 and replace it with FF. Personally, I kind of fancy this new version of the Ninja Turtles, but it has definitely created a deep rift within the fandom...

Ok, they changed the whole concept of TMNT to make it more kid friendly. I can accept that, but why did they have to put them in the future and give them these lame outfits and boring characters?? Couldn't they have stayed in the present time and still be more kid-friendly?? why does every thing have to be time travel. I can't stand it and I can't stand Fast Forward, not for one minute. I can't wait for the Lost Season... Fast Forward has no ambition. The 1987 TMNT series was kid-friendly and older viewers loved it too because it was so well written and had such great characters. All that Fast forward makes me want to do is to watch more of the 1987 series.
Ouch, that hurts. 'Was just being funny, is all.
Aw... I'm sorry Ecto... And if anyone is taking any of my posts in this thread seriously, maybe they shouldn't be.

Accept that some people will give their unsupported opinions and that an unsupported opinion will probably carry less weight than a supported opinion, so it's a self-correcting occurrence. Trust me, you'll have fewer stress-related health problems. And have fewer objects lobbed at your head.
I don't mind the future, I just want the tone, animation, and design back :(

Because, as I understand it, Season 6 was always going to involve a trip to the future. The Powers That Be financially backing the series suggested that since, hey, if you're going to change directions, how would you like to re-brand the series--drum up some interest in a now-stagnating (financially, not creatively, althought one could make an argument for that as well) series? We all know the rest--what's difficult is identifying what was always planned, as opposed to what concepts were added after the decision to make Fast Forward its own series emerged.
As for your claim that Fast Forward has "no ambition", I'd have to disagree, tentativelly: on paper, placing the turtles 100 years in the future is the most ambitous thing they could have done. This incarnation of the TMNT is a collection of quite disparate elements: ninjas, government conspiracies, triceratons, mysticism...it's all been kept quite separate. Given this, what could be more ambitious than placing all these elements in a blender and taking them all to their natural conclusion? Not to mention, it's gutsy as hell--there are so many things that could go wrong, they'd be foolish to try to attempt it. Yet they did, and they have my respect for that, regardless how Fast Forward eventually turns out.
Personally, I love the concept of Fast Forward, at least on paper. Like I said, taking all the disparate concepts and taking them to their natural conclusion? How can one not love it? Whether the staff will actually use this potential is still up in the air, but what I've seen so far gives me hope. Plus...you guys, it's still the same people who brought us the last four seasons. Haven't they earned your goodwill right now?

You have to understand that people would rather watch the Lost Season than Fast Fordward.

Well not to seem like I'm sideing with him or anything but I didn't like those episodes either.
One being both those villians are annoying as all hell. I can't stand their voices. I didn't really dig the story for them either. And Nano's return was pretty lame being as how he was tossed into boiling hot almost lava.

I agree too. Nano and garbageman were the pretty lame.

Nano suffered from a tired cliche of being the usual "robot with a soul" episode, the character was irratatingly childish, too childish to quite get the point of the story or generate sympathy for the character, just that he should take a bullet, and by the episode's ending, more sympathy was given to the criminal who had bonded with him.
"Return of Nano" suffered from the same cliche, rather than evolve the character and raise questions, Nano was once more a selfish, childish lonesome irritant who was now domineering his parental figure, turning him completly against him (and he seemed to be showing none of the bond he had developed with Nano) and the audience with his stalker like behaviour

I was kidding with Zarius Spitfire because he always says he hates people who don't give reasons for not liking something and he didn't ;)
I don't like them either...I like nano and the grifter guy harry a bit cause I thought it was a cute story and all but yea I think it's safe to say everyone hates the Garbage man..

thanks even though I was only play Zarius all of your reasons are good.
I dislike Garbage man even more than nano myself though...I mean the guy doesn't even have a story he's just some guy who came out of the sky or something lol.
