But Im wondering if they will do new versions in the near future.
I would really like a new printing of these great books for my collection and posterity.

slightly changing art by inking, changing words, editing art adding photoshoped stuff to it. I know allot of people don't think it's a bad things but even though it's his I think he should honestly just leave things that have allready been created well enough alone.
And Yes he's also figurd out what doesn't belong story wise and is only keeping what he believes is true tmnt.
I'd have just been happy had they done color to every issue and brought out books I'd much rathe rjust have that.:D

this is true but what I wonder is that did laird disclude it as part of the series by doing this...or is it still part..seems sort of doubtfull it being such a crazy story but man I love that art.

Soul's Winter is not considered part of the canon continuity. Obviously Peter still likes it enough to republish it (and I'm glad he did). I wouldn't expect that to happen for all of the non-continuity stories (if any of the others).

well I can see why honestly with this one it's wonderfull and all but shredder is still alive and it's a much deeper story than what we had been given in the past from the normal team at the studio.
I'm glad he did also I still need to pick it up.
I'd like to see all of those odd specials mirage brought out made into trades.

yeah I was thinking of sending scan of the contents to the official site because they dont have it up and it's got a mini archie turtle story with cudley the cowlick and a mirage casey story as well as others it was shocking because I didn't know about the archie one.
I also really like melting pot and commandosaurs(sp) it's a shame I've never been able to find those comics.

I've actually never found proof that Commandosaurs was ever actually published. Melting Pot was published under Tundra; copies are pretty common on eBay. I actually might have extra copies of a book or two.. I can check.

veryyyyy interesting I've been meaning to write into laird and ask him also ask what happend with stupid heros and all the others titles at that time as well. I really liked plastron cafe I wish that lasted longer.
I like to have everything mirage and it's core orig. group of artists bring out.

I don't think these are *too* hard to find, either. If you really want to be a completest, try digging up Gizmo #1 published by Domino Chance. :)

Yeah, I've got the mini comics. Good little pack of stories. And I definitely love Martin's sense of humor, as crazy and off-the-wall as it is.

I just got volumes 2-4 through the mail, but book one seems to be the really rare one. I wish Laird (and Lucas) would realize how awesome there stuff was back then and just let it be.

If you're referring to the "Next" books... Stupid Heroes did get published. It's sad it seems any time they try and do something new it fails like when they where changing the archie comics to the hype thing archie/mirage it got cancled.

Yeah, but if he did them in color, just imagine how much longer it would take him to get them out. Actually, isn't there already a colored edition of the originals? I thought there were a series of paperbacks that contained about 3 issues a piece of the first 11 or 12 issues in color. I think it got printed around '86-'89 or so.

In any case, I wouldn't count on getting the new paperbacks any time soon. Peter's probably still busy with the movie, toys, and cartoon. Not to mention, he needs to get back to his bimonthly comic or I'll be ticked. I think he's only re-inking the old issues in his spare time, so it could be a while (as in, a couple years).

I think from now on I'm going to look for the individual issues. The volume 1 trade seems to be even harder to get. Every eBay auction I find ends up getting really expensive.

I eventually got a complete collection of individual issues. Its honestly not as hard as you'd think. Many of the early issues have had numerous printings, and I'd honestly recommend the later printings over the early ones as they typically contain bonus short comics that haven't been reprinted anywhere else and are actually relevant to continuity (the first appearance of Complete Carnage and Radical was in one of these reprints).

The offical Ninja Turtles website has a TON off issues available cheap for you to order. And while they don't have em all, they certainly help and are a great place to start.


Honestly, after I completed my collection I sat down and read all the issues in proper continuity order, and to tell you the truth...volume 1 reads very poorly. I mean, I ignored the issues that were alternate tales and what-not, focusing only on the canon stories, but they STILL had a lot of continuity errors. Writers could never keep straight whether the TMNT were living in Northamton or the sewers after Return to New York and there were other bits like them completely changing why the TMNT moved out of their sewer lair in the first place.

Vol.1, even when reading in proper canon order, is really all over the place and contradicts itself continueously.

Maybe that is why Laird is trying to clean everything up. I really dont mind the idea of him picking and choosing what goes into his continuity at all...actually I think its areally good idea. It'll give those of us who want is an organzied read through the turtles adventures. Besides, If you dont like his continuity, just read the mirage issues he leaves out inbetween the tpb's :)

There were other things I noticed.

For instance, in TMNT Vol. 1 #45, one of the Foot Soldiers says that they forced the TMNT out of their sewer lair, which is how they knew where to find it (and ran into Leatherhead).

In the TMNT comic, the turtles were not forced out of the sewers by the Foot, but by the Mousers. They then went to stay with April until being forced out of there by the Foot and into Northampton. It looks like the writer had been watching the movie and got confused.

At this point I have the trades that cover issues 12-24 I think. As far as singles go, I have the 1992 large reprint of Issue 1 and a copy of issue three that is autographed. If I had started looking for the singles issues instead of the trade a while back I would probably be a good ways into collecting it. I like the convenience of having something on your bookshelf as opposed to bagged and boarded in a box, but in this case it seems easier to find the single issues.

I think even digest reprints of like three issues each would be a cool move by Mirage.

I don't think there can be a comparison to Lucas - it's quite easy to find old issues and reprints of the original, untampered stories for people who feel like doing so.

Personally, I'd love to see some well-organized hardcovers in the future, preferably oversized.
