I figure someone in here must remember a cartoon that was based specifically on the Super Mario 3 Nintento game that used to come on CBS Saturday mornings? This was probably in 1990 or something and there was something like 12 or 14 or maybe even 20 episodes made? They were 15 minutes each and they used to come on with another cartoon show that was based on nintendo with a Game Boy in it and stuff (I can never remember the name of that one).

I can remember some of the episodes of the Super Mario 3 cartoon but only bits and pieces, like when Toad took his mushroom hat off and an episode that took place under water and stuff like that. Does anyone know where these episodes could be downloaded?

Thanks in advance! :)

This should be in GD, but I'll contribute to it anyway.

Yes I do remember that show, but from what I remember, it was in conjunction with the daily SMB show (where every friday they showed The Legend of Zelda instead of Mario, and that made Fridays extra special for me!)

there was if I recall correctly the Super Mario Super Show on Fox in 1989, that had both a Mario and Zelda cartoon...Captain N and the GAme MAsters which features SMB 3, Castlevania, Kid Icarus, etc...

there was also Acclaim's Power Team in 1990 that featured either NARC the cartoon(Yeah, weird...a cartoon based ont he ultra violent late 80's arcade game...which just happens to be my fave game ever!) or Wizards and Warriors.

There was several Sonic cartoons, the best of which was the Japanese anime series.

Um...in the ealry 80's there was saturday monring cartoons of everything from Donkey Kong, Pacman, and Kangaroo to Q*bert, Pitfall, etc.

So yes, there has definately been some interesting video game based cartoons...with stinkers like the American Street Fighter(the anime Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter Alpha blows this away!) and Mortal Kombat in between.

How many Sonic cartoon series have there been? I know DIC created one for ABC, Saturday morning cartoon lineup (which I'm guessing the Archie comic is based off) and one that was syndicated. There was the anime, of course. Are there any others? By the way, the ABC one was the best. :D

I think The Super Mario Bros. Super Show was syndicated it came on a lot of different channels in 1989-1990.

The Adventures Of Super Mario Bros. 3 came on NBC in 1990-1991. There was 26 episodes.

Super Mario World was also on NBC from 1991-1992. Only 13 episodes was made.

The Family Channel{later Fox Family, now ABC Family} showed all 3 in the mid-90's. That's how I first saw them together.

I do believe that DVD is of Super Mario Bros. 2. I have two video cassettes of the SMBs3 show though. I used to watch it every saturday after Camp Candy. Remember that one? With John Candy?

Captian N! I think that might be it! That was fun too!

I liked Super Mario Bros 3 cartoon most because of how they used to use all the stuff from the nintendo game show and that was so cool!
I want the one where Toad takes off his hat and cries! LOL!!!

That was probably the syndicated one. Yeah... it was horrible topped with way to many bad jokes.

I have that on DVD. I don't think it's all that great. It's still pretty fun and I watch it from time to time, but I just doesn't have that certain something the ABC one did.

Stand aside, people, this is MY territory. *cracks knuckles*

Mario: As many people have said, there were three Mario cartoons: Super Mario Bros. Super Show, Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World. These are IMO some of the best and most accurate game cartoons of them all (well, SMBSS and SMB3 are: SMW was really crappy with all those damned cavemen)

Sonic: Sonic's got alot of cartoons. I mean alot. First off, we've got Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic SatAM, and Sonic Underground, all done by DiC. Of these three, the only one of any real quality is SatAM (althought AoStH is good for some cheap laughs). Over on the other side of the globe, there were two OVAs done by the people who did the intro and outro for Sonic CD. I have the tape of them both, and it's pretty good, dub nonwithstanding. Another new Sonic anime is coming out in Japan soon, and it looks to be pretty cool. You can see some screens and some basic knowledge here: www.sonicanime.net

Others: There's been a bunch of video game cartoons in the past. Pac-Man had a cartoon in the early 80s, but it wasn't very accurate to the games. (then again, considering how Pac-Man plays, I guess this is a good thing.) That's the only one I know a good bit about, actually. In the 90s, there was this really REALLY crappy Donkey Kong Country cartoon done by Nelvana. It sucks. This coming from an avid DK fan. They break out into song, the Kremlings ALL lack tails, and that damn bloody Crystal Coconut, ARGH...

Of course, we haven't touched what is in my humble opinion the greatest video game cartoon of all: EARTHWORM JIM, BISHES! INCREDIBLY accurate to the games, funny as all hell... the show rocked. And this coming from a guy who always sucked at the EWJ games! Pity it was cancelled.

Oh yeah, did I mention that in ALL the Sonic DiC cartoons, Sonic is voiced by URKEL?

Food for thought.

I'm watching Sonic The Hedgehog movie now and I'll admit its different but it does have some cool parts. I love the Sonic characters.

OT: Hey in reality, Jaleel White's just a typical, average, normal person just like his costars. I know I've seen him in a different show once without the nerdy getup, but I don't know what the show was called.

I loved the Super Mario Bros. cartoons, and the movie was kinda cool.

Yeah, I imagine he's a pretty normal guy in real life, I just thought it interesting that he voiced Sonic. I didn't even know Erkel's real name so I'd never have put two and two together...oh well now I know. :D

Oh well, during the '90s, Urkel owned all. He almost had kids believing it was cool to be a nerd once he could turn himself into Stefan :D

Actually in some circles the whole geek embracing 'cool to be a nerd' thing is back...just look at bands like Weezer or the emo-mod-indie-thrift store buying, atari shirt wearing hipster kids.

Urkel was cool! I used to watch him every night on TGI Fridays. What a cool kid...in his own way that is

Anyhow, back to Sonic, after three watches I liked the movie (except for that annoying Sara girl :dead: ). I especially liked the music to the movie. Anywhere I can get clips of that or pieces of the movie with sound?
I won't be able to get the movie itself until I scrape up some $$

Urkel...the silly kid with suspenders from that show (what was its name)? Sonic's voice?! The name of the show was Family Matters. The abc Sonic show owns and so did the super mario bros cartoons. I found a few of the super mario cartoons online but the quality sucked. :(
