The old toon is off when it comes to the Asian names. In that episode, it assumes that it's similar to American names, but in "Legend of Koji" the names are used correctly, thus Hamato Yoshi's ansester is Hamato Koji.

Yeah, they kept going back and forth about the Japanese names. Saki is Shredder's first name since as mentioned before last names come first in Japan. Still, most of the time depending on the writer of the episode, it kept getting switch. Such when Shredder's mom called him Oroku.

You could argue that she was doing that to belittle him, since she kept on calling him 'her little boy'. Maybe that's some kind of insult in Japan? :D

The same thing occurs sometimes in the new toon. They reference Karai as "Ms. Saki" despite Shredder's given name being Saki.

My point way back then was that it didn't make sense to give them that patronymic when their foster father was Japanese. It would have made more sense to stick with "Hamato".
