This is by far the best cover art we have gotten. Ooo comic style TMNT how awesome. Now I wonder who drew it.

I don't know about that. I think the OT volumes rival this crap.

I kid I kid. Yes that is pretty sweet cover art. Have all the episodes been released on dvd? I mean every single episode that has ever aired?

Excluding FF since its still airing and the Lost Season, every episode of the 2k3 series has been released on R1 DVD *EXCEPT* "The Ninja Tribunal", the last episode of Season 4.

That would be "Renowned Illustrator Khary Randolph". You can see the official press release here (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=16519). The thing that still pisses me off about this release, aside from the fact that it's not a complete season, is that even a mere month away from the release, there is still not the slightest hint we'll get any extras at all.

I'm ticked about as well gobo but I gotta admit the cover art has me sold.

I checked amazon.com and they do not have this on their website. B&N does and it gives no information about the DVD.

Here (http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Season/dp/B000NJMJKM) it is on Amazon.

But DeepDiscountDVD has a better deal (http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=12506389).

I would seriously wish that people around here would try to do some custom DVD artwork. Generic DVD insert art with stock character art annoys me to no end. It's just lazy, and I think we have some artists around here who could do some work much more true to the show, but with style and flare.

Well... at least you can tell it was drawn. I'm just glad it doesn't look anywhere near as half-assed as the usual DVD covers.

Still, it seems that hell will freeze over before the new cartoons get any cover art that maintains as much dignity as a typical "good" episode from the series.

Damn, all they'd need to do is use a good screenshot.

Several things holding back us art/animation/architorture majors who are also TMNT fans... work, tight schedules, and money. Also, there's the question, would funimation even use a fan-made DVD cover if it was professionally designed, and totally outshone any crap they could come up with? Even if the artist offered it for free because he was tired of seeing the same old "kindergarten collage" (as someone so eloquently described it) giving the impression that TMNT could only appeal to viewers below the age of seven years?

My summer is pretty tight as it is, but maybe I could schedule in a few new "projects."

ya know if stock art helps keep the price down...WHO CARES! It's what's inside that counts.

Agreed BL, but what exactly is inside this DVD set. I'm with Gobo, WHAT ARE THE EXTRAS!?

I don't mind stock art when it looks good, but companies seem to use stock art in the most generic way...How can amateur photoshoppers on the internet can make kick ass DVD covers using only stock art and probably not too much of their time. and all we get from big companies is stock art on a colored background and I'm sure whoever designed that spent a lot of time "working" on it..

It's also annoying when they go OUT of their way to make it bad like say Japanese game covers to american ones or DVD covers that don't want to use the kick ass Movie Poster and have this generic or ugly looking cover instead

there are exceptions of course but its the minority.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any extras, none of the other 4kids Sets have any as far as I remember.

no not really, except for the animatics and some character profiles in the first four dvds. I wish they wouldn't have stopped. All the did was push the video games after that and they had an extra on how to play the card game.
There were a couple extras in the season 4 dvd too.

I meant the other season sets that they've released, like Winx Club. as far as I remember they just had the episodes and that was pretty much it.

I liked the interviews with Laird.

04-27-2007, 12:30 PM
Well, GK, the important question is: Were there any preexisting extras for Winx and all though? O_o That's a precedent 4Kids would be stupid to ignore, but I guess they need a better reason than that to not be moronic cheapskates.

I really dig the cover art - it's fairly simple, but nice and dynamic, and hands down better than any of the promo art copy-and-paste jobs we've gotten thus far. I'll be getting this for sure, especially since I've never been able to find the first two DVD volumes for sale. Full season box sets would be preferable, but the price is pretty damn good for what we get, and having things complete and in proper order is always nice.

Extras would be nice, but aren't a deal-breaker. I do hope they'll include the Laird interviews at least, as there's really no reason to not include everything that came with the original releases.

Um you know that what spitfire posted isn't the same stock art we've been annoyingly been getting over and over and over right?

Not to be rude, but that cover art was posted on Wikipedia about a month ago. Anyway, the cover looks nice. Pretty basic, but that's fine.

Yeah I know that's where I got it from. But did this site have the cover art on it? Obviously not, and if it did not everyone saw it. I also sent it into the official site and Dan added it to the front page.

Why do you all care? If you saw it already what's the purpose of posting you have other then to be annoying? You saw it on another site great, some people haven't seen it, and by the looks of it most people here, so I posted it here.

Basically cause it's a bit of old news. As has been noted by others in this thread. Also, as others have noted, really need to calm down. We're just mentioning about this, afterall.

Heck, the time I found it on Amazon was over a month ago now (as I printed out the cover-art then, and that printing is dated 3/21).

Sweeeet cover. They shoulda had Khary Randolph provide original cover art from the beginning, rather than simply repackage the stock clip art over and over again.

I really like the cover but yeah it should be the WHOLE season. I don't understand breaking it into parts like that it just seems like a way to rip off the fans more by charging them twice for one season.

Leonardo_Warrior_Turtle

Yeah, pisses me off that Fox would release them like this. Still, it's better than having all of those DVDs with 3 episodes on them. I'll happily get 2 disc sets with 12 episodes over what we have gotten since 2003.

And as been noted by more people in the thread alot of people haven't see it yet. So would you like I just never post anything new I see again because I should assume everyone else has seen it already?

Also, as others have noted, really need to calm down. We're just mentioning about this, afterall.
And that's nice but I don't need tons of people coming in here saying "Well I've seen this already" that's rude. I don't care if you've seen it you didn't make a topic about it so alot of people didn't. I'm posting it so more people can. Posting you saw it already hints to me that you have a problem with me posting it. I honestly don't see what the issue is. But you seem to have a problem with it.

Heck, the time I found it on Amazon was over a month ago now (as I printed out the cover-art then, and that printing is dated 3/21).

So because you saw it already means everyone else on the Drome did?

Not really. It's 12 episodes at $16.98 US SRP (which is actually cheaper on Amazon). If it were all 26 episodes, it would have been about twice as much. They're probably just cutting the seasons in half in order to keep all the individual releases as inexpensive as possible. I mean, I'd really like to see full season box sets as well, but I can also see a lot of parents being more willing to drop $17 on this than $35 on a full season set, even if it'll just add up to the same later. They're more likely to get the impulse buys doing it this way.

Yeah, there's stuff they could have thrown on there. I think the reason they didn't was simply cost, and this Set seems to be identical to the Winx Club one. same disc/ep count etc. I'd totally LOVE it to have them, I just don't want anyone having their hopes up, as it seems a lot of people are expecting it to have a thing or two...

It would be great if it did though. I'd love to be wrong about this, and I hope I am. Like I said, I just don't want anyones hopes up just to have them get disappointed, you know?

Wow no kidding. Why do they color him grey on the OT covers? He is a brown rat in the OT but the front cover has him a completely diff hue!
