Season One Set Cover Art

This is by far the best cover art we have gotten. Ooo comic style TMNT how awesome. Now I wonder who drew it.

I don't know about that. I think the OT volumes rival this crap.

I kid I kid. Yes that is pretty sweet cover art. Have all the episodes been released on dvd? I mean every single episode that has ever aired?

Excluding FF since its still airing and the Lost Season, every episode of the 2k3 series has been released on R1 DVD *EXCEPT* "The Ninja Tribunal", the last episode of Season 4.

That would be "Renowned Illustrator Khary Randolph". You can see the official press release here. The thing that still pisses me off about this release, aside from the fact that it's not a complete season, is that even a mere month away from the release, there is still not the slightest hint we'll get any extras at all.

I'm ticked about as well gobo but I gotta admit the cover art has me sold.

I checked amazon.com and they do not have this on their website. B&N does and it gives no information about the DVD.

I would seriously wish that people around here would try to do some custom DVD artwork. Generic DVD insert art with stock character art annoys me to no end. It's just lazy, and I think we have some artists around here who could do some work much more true to the show, but with style and flare.

Well... at least you can tell it was drawn. I'm just glad it doesn't look anywhere near as half-assed as the usual DVD covers.

Still, it seems that hell will freeze over before the new cartoons get any cover art that maintains as much dignity as a typical "good" episode from the series.

Damn, all they'd need to do is use a good screenshot.

Several things holding back us art/animation/architorture majors who are also TMNT fans... work, tight schedules, and money. Also, there's the question, would funimation even use a fan-made DVD cover if it was professionally designed, and totally outshone any crap they could come up with? Even if the artist offered it for free because he was tired of seeing the same old "kindergarten collage" (as someone so eloquently described it) giving the impression that TMNT could only appeal to viewers below the age of seven years?

My summer is pretty tight as it is, but maybe I could schedule in a few new "projects."

I see a place where people get on and off the freeway. On and off, off and on all day, all night! Soon there will be a string of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food! Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.

I don't mind stock art when it looks good, but companies seem to use stock art in the most generic way...How can amateur photoshoppers on the internet can make kick ass DVD covers using only stock art and probably not too much of their time. and all we get from big companies is stock art on a colored background and I'm sure whoever designed that spent a lot of time "working" on it..

It's also annoying when they go OUT of their way to make it bad like say Japanese game covers to american ones or DVD covers that don't want to use the kick ass Movie Poster and have this generic or ugly looking cover instead

there are exceptions of course but its the minority.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any extras, none of the other 4kids Sets have any as far as I remember.

no not really, except for the animatics and some character profiles in the first four dvds. I wish they wouldn't have stopped. All the did was push the video games after that and they had an extra on how to play the card game.
There were a couple extras in the season 4 dvd too.

I meant the other season sets that they've released, like Winx Club. as far as I remember they just had the episodes and that was pretty much it.

Well, GK, the important question is: Were there any preexisting extras for Winx and all though? O_o That's a precedent 4Kids would be stupid to ignore, but I guess they need a better reason than that to not be moronic cheapskates.

I really dig the cover art - it's fairly simple, but nice and dynamic, and hands down better than any of the promo art copy-and-paste jobs we've gotten thus far. I'll be getting this for sure, especially since I've never been able to find the first two DVD volumes for sale. Full season box sets would be preferable, but the price is pretty damn good for what we get, and having things complete and in proper order is always nice.

Extras would be nice, but aren't a deal-breaker. I do hope they'll include the Laird interviews at least, as there's really no reason to not include everything that came with the original releases.

Um you know that what spitfire posted isn't the same stock art we've been annoyingly been getting over and over and over right?

Not to be rude, but that cover art was posted on Wikipedia about a month ago. Anyway, the cover looks nice. Pretty basic, but that's fine.
