After watching all of the lost season, I was left wondering about what was the utrom shredder's connection with everything. His past and link with the shredder is still a mystery. I don't think he just woke up one day and decided to just take on the mantle of the shredder. He had to have knowledge of it somehow.
We do know from one of the letter comments by peter laird in tmnt vol 4. issue 22 that when the utrom shredder crash landed in Japan, he went around with his exo suit and mastered every martial art he could. But how did he learn ninjutsu?, start the foot clan?, or learn about the shredder and take on his mantle? Did he ever trick the ninja tribinal into training him to be an acolite? Did he learn ninjutsu and info about the shredder from the ancient one?

Any thoughts, speculation, or opinions are welcomed.

We know a bit about his life on the Utrom homeworld, thanks to Slashuur's flashback in TMNT2: Battle Nexus (if that's considered canon). But other than that, Ch'rell's life is pretty much an unresolved mystery. And with the Lost Season's relevations on the entity known as The Shredder, it makes it even more mysterious.

Well since chrell has been around for thousands of years. He would have had plenty of time to learn ninjitsu and learn about oroku saki. He may have even been there while oroku saki was battling the demon.
He used the sword of tengu to gain victories and power. Through all his newly gained power, followers came to him and he gained the means to start a clan.

chrell might have even been around while oroku saki was battling the demon. Chrell probably thought it a good idea to present himself as the shredder because the shredder was so powerful.

Chrell was never an acolyte. The tribunal would have known that he was not the true oroku saki.

"chrell might have even been around while oroku saki was battling the demon. Chrell probably thought it a good idea to present himself as the shredder because the shredder was so powerful".

Actually I think the evil utrom came centries after the whole battle between the five dragons and the shredder tengu.

I was thinking that before the evil utrom took on the disguise of Oroku Saki, he encountered the ninja tribinal and somehow convienced them that he was good. After that, maybe the tribinal saw potential for him to be a good warrior so trained him to fight not knowing that Chrell was using them. I think that would of been a good way for him too not only learn ninjutsu, but info about the shredder as well

Probably heard of the legends and of the Tribunal. Then decided to make a reverse of one with him the only head and legions of pupils aka the Foot.

I kinda wonder why the Tribunal would let him roam freely using the name of Saki and Shredder?

Weren't they guarding the artefacts from anyone who would try and resurrect the true shredder? They clearly didn't give a damn about him when Yoshi came to them.

It's not really their concern. Their only concern is demon saki.

They probably could have wasted him in seconds. The Mystics too. But since they were under the imposters control, they probably weren't a threat. After all, he's not going to want to bring back the origonal all powerful demon Shredder. Probably why the Tribunal did nothing about him.

Good point. Actually the tribunal probably approved of what chrell was doing since chrell somehow had control of the mystics. As long as chrell had the mystics, they could not resurect demon saki and recover the relics.

I'd still like to think that Churell (whose actual spelling we may never know) forged a deal with The Ninja Tribunal. In exchange for removing The Shredder's Heralds from their concern, he was given free reign of destruction on Japan. So, The Tribunal chose the lesser of the two evils in order to properly end the whole conflict years later.

That sounds like it could actually have been an episode. Nice thinking.

And for the record, ninjaturtles.com displays the spelling as "ch'rell"

Maybe Ch'rell learned of the demon Saki from the Mystics. Maybe he stumbled on to the Mystics somehow.
