HOW COME BURNE, Vernon and irma got written out of the series in 1994??? How did fans recat to that and react to Shredder and Krang being taken out of hte regular cast in 1994. I saw a lot of the 1994 eps on yotube though AND WHY DID APRIL BECOME A FREELANCE REPORTER FOR ANOTHER NEWSSTATION WITH A NEW CREW?
H
Another questions how did fans react toward the fact that the whole 1995 season did not have shredder and Krang at all??? what was that like for them??? i watched 2 eps of 1995 season on youtube and its like 1995 season is a whole new show compared to the turtles we all knew. I still view Shredder triumphant as the last episode as we all the turtle series.
Well, some of them did make appearences during the last couple of Seasons ( I recall Shredder and Krang had a few appearences during it, anyway). Just that the show took a different turn.

"Things Change" :D

The news crew I didn't miss. Shredder and Krang I missed only because their replacements were so boring. Were Shredder, Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady tiresome? Yes. Were they more enjoyable than Krakus, Dregg & Mung? Also yes.
WHY DID APRIL BECOME A FREELANCE REPORTER FOR ANOTHER NEWSSTATION WITH A NEW CREW?
Err... Good business sense, I would imagine. Channel 6 blew up. She opted not to go down with the ship.

It was a drag, but mostly because their replacements were so boring.

I have to agree. Red Sky was "A Whole New Shell Game".

Shredder and Krang were only in three eps of the '96 season, not at all in the '95. :ohwell:

Glad to see I'm not the only one who did not care for the Red Sky episodes.
First and foremost, I do not like the new Turtle character designs. And April does not look quite as sexy as she did in previous seasons.
The 8th season was fine, though they could have kept the old design till they switched over to a different enemy.
And I honestly did NOT like Dregg and company AT ALL. Where did they pull him from? He would have worked fine for a couple episodes of the previous seasons- but not to have TWO whole seasons devoted to him. I would have very much preferred to see Karai and City at War.
And in the final season, things get quite convoluted with the future and past Turtles to fix the mutation and bring the life force to them. It would have confused the daylights out of little kids watching the show. I like the science behind it- but not everyone would be able to follow it as well as I did.
I still have not watched "Turtle Trek" and "Divide and Conquer". So I am missing two key episodes. Hopefully they will be up soon.

Not sure (have to check again). But think at least one of those episodes (maybe both) is among the Bonus Episodes on the Classic TMNT Season 1 DVD.
Edit: D'oh, nope. Nevermind (just checked ninjaturtles.com and found that neither ep. is).

Moving on.
[The 8th season was fine, though they could have kept the old design till they switched over to a different enemy.
A stable animation style was better than nothing. The show took a more serious turn and the characters reflected that.

Frankly anyone other than Shredder would have been a good thing. Yeah Dregg was a flash in the pan intergalactic warlord/con artist but I'll give him this: He wasn't Shredder.
And in the final season, things get quite convoluted with the future and past Turtles to fix the mutation and bring the life force to them. It would have confused the daylights out of little kids watching the show.

I was around ten and taking classes to compensate for a learning disability and I got it. Not that hard to figure out. And yeah, Dregg is lame, but honestly at the time it was nice to have a different bad guy to watch for once. And considering he reduced the guys and Krang to near life less husks and tricked the entire planet to handing itself over to him on a platter I think he has some redeming qualities.

Why not?
I thought they were awesome designs and much less variable than previously. Before Red Sky there was some really crappy animation.
I like the science behind it- but not everyone would be able to follow it as well as I did.
Well, to start off any kid watching TMNT would have been used to the whacky approach to science a la our very own Donatello.
Just a suggestion here - maybe it might be time for you to stop telling everyone on these boards they are less intelligent than you. Just a thought......
The only thing I don't like about Red Sky is Dregg and crew and the hyper mutating turtle thing.
other than that:

I agree but apparently the thousands of poser fans who saw the new movie disagreed.
Got your facts a little mixed-up there, cowboy. The thousands of poser fans who were ticked cuz there was no Shredder refused to see it. Only about 20 of those poser fans actually did (unless you count the people who downloaded it instead).

I agree. I think Shredder is an awesome villian, but seeing the TMNT fight Dregg and Mung was fun too. I thought it was cool how the people of earth thought Dregg was a good alien and made the turtles look like bad guys.

I don't know about you but having the same 4 villains in every episode gets a little old you know? When Dregg was around you saw them so little that when you did it was really cool because they weren't on the show every other episode.

Shredder and Krang almost killed the Turtles and April plenty of times themselves. And, since the Turtles weren't allowed to kill, Bebop and Rocksteady almost killed Shredder and Krang a few times too. ^_^

It wasn't done in such a serious tone though Dregg drained every one of their life energies and Shredder who acted like Krangs creepy lover in the episode snuck out and saved Krang from perishing.
While the turtles where left to die at the hands, new powers, and krangs mind and Mungs creepy evil laughter.
And the only time I can really think that Shredder and the crew where ever any threat to the TMNT was in the episode "Night of the Rogues."
Oh wait nevermind they tricked others into almost killing the turtles.
And when did Bebop and Rocksteady ever come close to killing there bosses?
Because I can't remember that at all. I could think of a few where Shredder & Krang almost chopped of Bebop & Rocksteadys heads.
I'm being serious though I can't really ever think of a single time that they where ever a serious threat except for in the last season or so before Red sky and then during Red Sky Shredder really became a bad ass.
And also my entire point of posting was to show why Dregg is indeed not lame. I could list plenty more reasons to why Dregg was needed.
The Bebop & Rocksteady part was a joke about how dangerously clumsy they were. But, who was it that was about to shoot the Turtles with the retromutagen ray? Who was it that strapped Michaelangelo in the flush-o-matic on his birthday? Who tried to bake Leonardo and Raphael in a pizza until he started thinking he was Michaelangelo again? Shredde almost finished off the Turtles plenty of times.

But not ALL the turtles, except that one time. You'd think in all the seasons there'd be more then one occasion where Shredder almost killed all four turtles. But there isn't. Dregg did it tons of times and messed up the turtles lives more then Shredder and Krang did. Remember when he made Leo mutate all crazy? Yeah...
And that Mikey birthday episode was retarded "Mothballs!" That made NO sense at all.

Yes mr. James Edward ALMOST as you pointed out but Dregg Succeeded where others failed and learned from their mistakes, Hell he even wanted to work with Krang & Shredder but they where such glory hogs that they couldn't even think of anyone but themselves.
My entire point really is I don't see why people even bash Red Sky at all.
The series to me finally took things back to where it all started at.
Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Rat King and others where finally given a chance to shine again at the start also along with new characters.
The turtles came really close to having for the Mirage Look first time ever in animated form.
To me this is why Red sky is soo good it was just had great style, action, new storys, and new and old characters something that was really missing from the toon for a long time.
"Mothballs!" That made NO sense at all.
The point there was to make reference to the power of suggestion. How could simple mothballs have the power to do what they did? Because the Turtles believed they could. If you don't want to take my word for it, you can gather all seven mothballs, summon the eternal moth, and ask him yourself. ^_^

I could bring up "Superhero for a Day" where he almost killed all four of them, then captured all four of them again later in the episode. But I won't. :P
This is not directed at anyone in particular (it's more preventative than anything else), but while I don't think people should attack the Red Sky episodes, we shouldn't start belittling the older episodes to make the Red Sky ones look better, either. Whichever version you prefer, you're always welcome to share your opinions, but it will keep things alot calmer in here if we focus more on boosting what we like as opposed to cutting down what we don't like.
Personally, I prefer the classic episodes by far, but there are still some aspects, such as the consistent animation and continuing storylines, that I prefer in the Red Sky episodes. In my opinion, there are both good points and bad points in each one.

That's how I look at anything TMNT related I wish more people could look at things this way.
While I wasn't bashing the old Toon I was trying to bring up a point of how they sort of lost sight of what the show was originally about somewhere in the middle of it all and really didn't get back to it until the later seasons of the CBS Saturday morning toons not just red sky.

I think Dregg was refreshing and different as he tricked people into thinking he is their friend and then behind their backs plot against them. I liked that twist and how he would threaten his minions and intimidate them. it just felt so different. there was the mutating thing and Carter the same season. it was ok, ok. the now late tony jay did good playing DRegg.
It was different. sad how 1995 season had no shredder and krang. 1995 was worlds apart from like 1989.

When I first saw the red sky episodes, I didn't like Dregg because he wasn't Shredder and Krang...now that I am older, I like Dregg & the red sky episodes because Shredder and Krang aren't the focus.
My favorite season will always be the 3rd, but I can enjoy the red sky eps because they bring consistant animation, more story arcs, and Shredder and Krang get back to being more badass(Shredder blew up Channel Six just because he could :o), as they should be. After watching all the red sky episodes, I must say I am more impressed with Dregg and what he was able to accomplish in the few seasons he was around now then I was when the episodes first aired.

what if they had Zack in the red sky. They had casey jones though and Rat king.
it seems that less and less reoccuring characters had vanished.
STill Why did Burne, Vernon and IRma get written off (I know they blew up Channel 6 and they got moved to a smaller building) and April work for another TV Station with a new crew?
I know they never showed April get fired or show her resign!!!! I Saw all the red sky eps.
was there going to be season 11? but I bet clsoer to the last episode they knew the show would get cancelled
HOW DID DREGG NOT DIE WHEN IS SHIP BLEW UP DID HE GET OUT??? the sillyest red sky episode was mobster from Dimension X.
what went thorugh people's mind when there was no shredder and krang in season 9 after the technodrome was sucked in by the plant pit. in the first episode of that season (Season 9) did anyone expect Shredder and Krang in it? (That episode and season). I still noticed in the later red sky eps April took a backseat more.

what do you wish they could have done more in in red Sky episodeS? Thery should have had like 10 eps instead of 8. Did the writters not think Shredder, Krang and Bebop and Rocksteady fit into the scheme of Things? and I still wonder why the Channel 6 crew were replaced even after they moved to a smaller Chgannel 6 building after Channel 6 blew up. Channel 8 crew was dull and will never replace Channel 8. It seems the writters did not think the stuff like VErnon scooping APril's stories would fit into Red sky series. I still wonder what people back in 1995 thought when Season 9 aired. tommarow is 12 years since the first ep of dregg aired (I know due to the airdates), but did not watch turtles by 1995. I still wonder what went through everyones mind when the first ep aired with no Shredder and KRang as they never missed out on being in the SEason premiere, and what they thought as the Season 9 eps went along and still no Shredder and Krang, and still no Burne, Vernon and Irma. I still find Season 9 as a break From Shredder and KRang. WHEN Shredder, KRang Bebop and Rocksteady were in the Technodrome in Turtle Trek when it got dragged down by the plant monster, what went through everyones mind then do you think and will they come back??
they never had action figures of the Red Sky series characters like the havoc mutant leader, Krakus, Megavolt, DRegg, Mung, hi-tech, technogangsters, April in the leather jacket with a Channel 8 cam, and Carter.

I really enjoyed the red sky series and wish it had gone on a bit further before Dregg came along.
I don't really have any problems with Dregg at all even looking back on the episodes now and I think by them lowering the status of Krang & Shredder which happend way before Dregg even came about added allot to the characters and made them more believable.

Well he with the help of his compitent side kick mung did acomplish a few things like taking bits out of the turtles shells, tricking them into saving the vortex crystal that would cause them to have hyper mutations, then breaking the vortex crystal when leo was about to be cured.
