You do realize asexual and genderless aren't the same thing, right?
They're...simply male turtles. Male turtles exist in the real world. As for how Splinter knew they were male, uh, how they acted?
As far as their sexuality, some of the Turtles have been given love interests in the various universes. The Mirage one is currently in Volume 4 with Mikey and The Regenta, who actually have sex and produce offspring.
that's wut im saying,they r male turtles, and don't have tails?0xo
can i ask a serious Q...?
While there aren't any serious Qs around here, you can always ask us instead. :D If you watch the eps with the unmutated turtles, you can see that their tails are plainly visible. So, Splinter just remembers from way back then. Plus, with all their other masculine characteristics, it's pretty undeniable. Since reproduction was not an option, their bits just mutated away... along with their need for a toilet.

:lol: They dont have tails in the toons or movies cos they're afraid of parents going OMG:oTHey're showing their weeners!!! When it's just a freaking tail. Parents, unlike me(us rare TMNT fan parents) freak out over every stupid little thing. Turtles have tails.
They got em in the mirage books in all sorts of sizes and shapes...I never draw a TMNT w/out a tail...and a longer more male turtle looking tail, not the tiny girly short tails they draw them with.
I consider them totally capable of hankey pankey but can't have kids...(but thats what fics are for)
stupid parents XDDDDDDDDDDD

I don't know why but I thought the orginal poster was asking what the turtles sexual orientation was :o. Like if they are attracted to females or males or none of they above.
Persoanlly in terms of sexual orienatation I think the turtles are all heterosexual in that they would be interested and attracted to females except that they can't because they are not human.
Although, as far as the 2k3 series goes, I think the turtles are all asexual and actually have no desire what so ever to pursue that beyond simple platonic admiration (except maybe in Donatello's case with April ;) ). I don't think they ever think actively "wow, that chick is hot, wish I wasn't a turtle so I could do her" I don'think the 2k3 turtles actually have those types of feelings. Although don't get me wrong I think the turtles could think a girl is pretty and appreciate that about her, just not get any lewd thoughts over it.

I think that their tails have now mutated into really short stubs that are between their carapace and bottom of the plastron. They would only have the cloaca opening. If they did not have one, they would die of poisoning from accumulated wastes. They did have tails pre-mutation, so Splinter (in all versions) probably recognized that all 4 Turtles were male due to the tail length.
I do wish they had kept the tails. I did have a customer go berserk and try to get "Froggy Plays Soccer" off the shelves in my library simply because in ONE picture, Froggy has a bent knee with a shin guard on top. Her little boy asked if it was the frog's genital organ (I do not know if in soccer you need an athletic supporter, but in baseball you do) and the mother freaked out because she said it looked like the frog was "protecting his privates". The four librarians who reviewed the book decided her complaint was futile and that it was clear that the frog- who was already fully dressed- was just putting on leg protection.
Regarding orientation- just because no sexual interests have been shown for a person does not automatically mean that he or she is asexual. I do not have a significant other nor have dated anyone or even had a crush on anyone in a long time- yet I am not asexual.
I think the turtles are all asexual and actually have no desire what so ever to pursue that beyond simple platonic admiration (except maybe in Donatello's case with April ;) )..

I think that their tails have now mutated into really short stubs that are between their carapace and bottom of the plastron. They would only have the cloaca opening. (which is normal, reptiles only have a cloaca) If they did not have one, they would die of poisoning from accumulated wastes. They did have tails pre-mutation, so Splinter (in all versions) probably recognized that all 4 Turtles were male due to the tail length.
Actually, if the guys were hatchlings (he says he found em as babies) he would not know if they were boys or girls, you can't tell with a normal turtle to about at least 3" or so.
In TMNT 1, those were not baby turtles! I could recognize at least 2 were mature males! Now I can see if sensei found them as 4" babies as you'd find at PetCo, he'd know if they're guys or gals. But then he wouldn't know right off, how would a rat suddenly know what boys tails look like unless he saw something peek out of their tail. :dead::lol:
I think one of the big shockers is that in the comics, they are sexual beings. OMG Mikey did that princess chick! He's not a virgin! :o So there's the answer if they have the desire, yes they do in the right situations; or in Mike's situation, the wrong. I personally want Raph to hook up with a girl :P
The way I see it as far as any natural urges, they're matured males, full of hormones, (esp raph, alot of aggression can be caused by male hormones) and should have the normal need to breed; their only options: human females. Not that they'd really act upon those urges but who says they don't have a stack of Playboys?
Interesting point about Sydney. Her voice was deepened by her mutation; they guys had no idea she was a she until she reverted, and their reaction was great! I wish Raph or Mikey peeked, that would be so like them to do that.

In the new cartoon, maybe it could be argued that they could be female, because of that whole Sydney thing you mentioned. Seems really unlikely, though, and those mutations seem to have been caused by a different means than the Turtles' mutations. At any rate, Splinter probably could have checked under their tails before they mutated. Or after they mutated. What's to say they don't have some sort of genitalia tucked up there somewhere.
But "asexual" doesn't mean having no biological sex, it means having no sexual desire. My suspicion is that the Turtles are capable of sexual feelings, but having no real outlet for them, the Turtles' sexualities have become stunted due to disuse. I suppose Raph's aggression could be an outlet, and he just doesn't realize that he's sexually frustrated. The other guys find other things to occupy their time (Leo meditates and is really spiritual and I doubt he ever has sexual urges at all; Don seems to have a definite crush on April in a couple mediums and may be the most aware of his sexual desire, but he ignores it because he's not a human; and Mike ... well, I really can't imagine him with sexuality. But then he went and had sex in Volume 4. Geh).

Not to mention that Mike was in his thirties then.... probably outgrew the whole 'play videogames/read comicbook' thing and was mature enough to see women in that kind of light. Besides, Mirage Mike was always the most eager to live in the 'real world' while the other 3 didn't really cater to it, so surprisingly he'd actually be the most sexually frustated, possibly wishing he could go out with a girl and take her to the movies like any normal couple he'd seen on TV many times before. Now that he found love with a fellow reptile, I guess he decided to go for it.

After reading this post a few times, I think I finally understand what you are saying.
Sydney was a chick - Then she was mutated and appeared to be a male. So you think perhaps the turtles could have been female was well?
I'd say no. Sydney was a human, the guys were not. Sydney was mutated by the foot with different mutagen than the guys. And still, we don't know Quarry's gender. Quarry could have been either male or female. And besides, the 2k3 series isn't that deep. It's accepted that the turtles are in fact male.
As far as the asexual question, they are male. We know they have genitals because Mike has reproduced.

Can someone with Volume 19 scan and display the evidence that Michelangelo was seduced by Seri? Even if it is implied and not explicitly shown.
I do agree it is extremely unlikely that a turtle and a dinosaur can have viable offspring- or even offspring period. Add me to the looong list of people who think that Seri tricked him. It is not that rare even nowadays in this planet. I know people to whom it has happened recently.

"That was fast"
Everybody was suspicious enough as is that they were NOT Mikey's babies.
Now that phrase alone is a MAJOR hint (if not explicitly stating) that they are certainly NOT his kids and that he has been royally FRAMED.
And Leo gave a little boy mouth to mouth and CPR on the third movie. Hence I doubt Seri would be so tremendously shocked.
Reptiles certainly do not have mammary glands. At least Mona Lisa used to be originally a girl who got transformed into a salamander (not that amphibians have mammary glands either), so curves are understandable. In Venus' case this is quite implausible.
My German professor said once that a little boy told him "I did not know that breasts were for nursing babies". And the prof replied "well what did you think they were for?". And the little boy said "because they look good".
And my library just got the most ADORABLE book about mammals of different species (including humans) nursing (and in one case bottle-feeding) their babies. Most adorable book ever. I wanted to put it in the easy science section rather than easy fiction since it had the names of lots of animals and their babies- but it was officially classified as fiction.
dude,u didn't mention that the most implausible thing's that one part is a mutant turtle and the other a mutant reptile. how can a mutant turtle and a mutant reptile commit the whole breed thing after all?ox0

Turtles are reptiles. But that's not the point.
Michelangelo is a mutant. Seri and members of her species are not. Not quite the point either.
A turtle and a dinosaur can NOT mate and produce offspring.
They diverge at the Order level. If they were just two different species in the same genus, such as Canis latrans (coyote) x Canis lupus (wolf) or Equus caballus (horse) x Equus asinus (donkey), then it could and often does work.
But Trachemis scripta elegans (red eared slider) and x Dinosauria family genus species (whatever Seri was) could NEVER have offspring.
And even if you knew NOTHING about science and thought that dogs and cats could have baby catdogs, the "that was fast" part alone should be a major indication that something is NOT right and that they are NOT his babies.

Well, I don't think they're Mikey's kids either. But I think that Seri is exempt from the Earth classification systems, because she is from another planet. Although Triceratons, Styracodons, and whatever the hell Seri is (Protoceratopson?) look like dinosaurs, they aren't dinosaurs as are found on Earth. Mikey mentioned something about convergent evolution found amongst species on two planets, and how that might have happened with the Earth dinosaurs and the dinosaurian aliens.
But c'mon, Leo gave mouth-to-mouth to a little boy in the third movie and that's supposed to have any effect on the Mirage universe? Seri stated that she was shocked because in her culture, a kiss means you're betrothed.

The big problem with the term "neutering" is that it implies that doing this to an animal makes it asexual. It doesn't. Gender is still in the XX and XY chromosones, as well in many features of the animal's anatomy and psychology.
I have two spayed cats, a male and a female. The female, before I had her spayed, was feisty and friendly only with me and absolutely nobody else (a personality characteristic which as far as I know is unique to females). Ah, certain plants and animals are capable of breeding outside their species or phylum. For that matter, it goes pretty far. Look up interfamilial hybrids some time. GIven we're working in a Universe with ULTROM's, its not hard to believe it could go further. Convergent evolution man.
besides wich, dude, she's an alien, different rules apply. She;s completely off of the evolutionary chart, which makes it hard to judge. You'd have to do a chromosome comparison to even begin to be sure. As to the dinasiour thing, dude, its the appearance,e not the biggest issue. You could be surgically altered to look reptilian, and you'd still be able to breed.

Turtles mate before egg laying which comes at least 6 weeks after making out. Seri's eggs looked hard shelled, no way they could reproduce externally-the shells would prevent Mikey's little soldiers from getting into the egg.

Female turtles can store sperm if needed; after the ova develops, gets fertilized the shell forms. And turtles will lay if they've bred or not too, they're a little like birds.

well that's weird,:ohwell: coz my cat keeps getting fatter and fatter after he got castrated.and he plays no more, everyday doing nothing but sleeping in my bed then wakes up and gets himself some food then turns in then have food then sleep...
I don't think the neutering has caused that, since other spayed cats don't react the same way. You'd beeter get your cat back to the vet, pronto!:o

I would take a lazy cat to the vet just in case there's no underlying cause of his lazyness.

I dunno..my 2 boys are fine, Sharkey's a big cat period! He's not fat, just a big guy. And Jinks is a lighter built cat. Both play, and OMG they run around and clobber each other often! They keep themselves fit being active. So I don't think it's all in the neutering. It's the enviroment and if a cat had fellow cats to hang out with, I believe they'd be less lazy.

I consider them totally capable of hankey pankey but can't have kids...(but thats what fics are for)

Michelangelo and Raphael are completely and totally heterosexual. No evidence to anything other than that.
Donatello and Leonardo have male friends that people put in fanon pairings with them. But both Donnie and Leo have had crushes on females. They just seem to focus on other things- while Mikey and Raph have had girlfriends.

... Raph's constant angst, for instance? His disorder problems might base on his doubtful sexual orientation. He can't accept the unwanted desire crouching within, he tries to deny and fight it, this is why he snaps so many times.
Once he comes out, his soul might find some piece at last.

As much as I cringe when arguments over the Turtles' sexuality come up ...
Scandia, who is it that Don can be put in a pairing with? Leatherhead ... ? I can't think of a guy with whom Don has had a close relationship.
I would totally rate Raph and Mike as being more bi-curious than Leo or Don. Canonically, it's Don who's into April; Raph only is in the first movie. Raph has always had this close relationship with Casey. They go out fighting together a lot. And, as Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer teaches us, you get really horny after fighting. (I'm sorry. I'm joking. Mostly.)
And Mike ... well, I usually just see evidence that he likes girls, but I could just imagine a fun-loving personality like his being open to new experiences ... Mondo Gecko, anyone?
I don't think any of them are homosexual, but if any were bi-curious, I'd guess Mike and Raph. ;)

Sorry to go back to the controversy, but to explain why I think Mikey is bi-curious:
- he's a "party dude" who probably listens to Prince
- the way he looks in rooish's avatar, that look he is giving is exactly the same look I would give Matt Daman if I were bi-curious for him. That look is resoundly bi and serves no other purpose than to express with body language "I will go there.. tonight, I will go anywhere, Sir".

Syd- one of the characters I created for my stories is an asexual male. The only way he can get an erection is by masturbation. He is not attracted to either men or women. His gender identity is male. He is neither a macho man nor a metrosexual, neither butchy nor effeminate. He has Asperger syndrome and is very nerdy- he is a Geology major in college and loves computers. His best friend is a heterosexual male who is often called a sissy because he prefers reading, playing the violin, and archery over team sports. I hope this is an example of what asexual means.
TheAnimatedSeries- two words: oh please. Unless I see proof that any of the Turtles were sexually attracted to males, I will not be convinced.

great, now we can change this topic from "tails" to "asexuality",coz it is still open to discussion.
This was pretty good list of questions. Let's see if I really can manage to explain these things in English.
First we must separate the term gender from sex.
Sex is purely biological: it can be male, female or intersex (used to known as hermaphrodite).
Gender would be meaning now one's personal experience of gender identity. It could be man, woman, androgyne or total genderless/neutral.
Asexuality means one has no sexual desires.
Hetero-/homosexuality means one has sexual desires towards opposite sex/same sex (which is problematic if one isn't male or female or has different gender identity than his/her biological sex).
Bisexuality, sometimes referred to pan- or omnisexuality means parter's biological sex doesn't count.
Anyone still following? :D
"is a genderless male or female?"
Genderless is male, female or intersex person biologically but has no gender identity (or considers it as 'neutral')
"does a genderless have genital desire?"
Yes or no. To be genderless doesn't equal asexuality, as to be a man or male doesn't automatically mean his hetero or gay.
"is a asexual male or female?"
Yes. Or intersex.
"does a asexual have genital desire?"
Nope.
"does a genderless have romatic love?"
Yes.
"does a asexual have romatic love?"
Yes, I guess.
a genderless has no hormone,has he/she?
then why does he/she have desire?=X
This thread gives me a headache. >_<
well who shoulda make a appology?me?0[]o
No one. Just stating a fact. This thread gives me a headache. I'd like to know why all of this matters to you. What difference does it all make? Is this just for the purpose of finding new points of discussion on the franchise? Why can't I wake up at a reasonable hour? Where is Mr. Goodbar? Do you know the muffin-man? All these questions and more flood my mind when I look at this thread, and it gives me a headache.
Of course, the fact that my inner ear is bleeding can't be helping matters...
because i have a different opinion 'bout that and want to know whether im or others are wrong at this point?

a genderless has no hormone,has he/she?
then why does he/she have desire?=X
Yes, a genderless person does have hormones, like every human does.
Genderlessness has nothing to do with biology, as far as the science know today at least.
So again, let's not mix biological sex with gender identity. 8)
And about Turtles' sexualities...well, Michelangelo seems absolutely hetero to me. Actually I think he's the most hetero of them all, though he's a transvestite. ;) But that has nothing to do with one's sexual identity.
Raphael seems bi to me, probably 'cause I see him as the Turtle with the biggest "sex drive" (or what ever being horny is called more correctly). But I hardly can see him dating any males (although I prolly wish I could ).
Leonardo is certainly hetero-orientated, but I think he could fall in love with a matching male as well if he ever thought about it, so I'd almost rank him as bi.
And Donatello should be gay. He should be the compulsory representative of gay minority that has to be added in every show. That would also explain why females like him so easily. ;)
And all of them certainly identify themselves as men. Even Mikey. :P

Aww, that was mean, dude. Granted, the Turtles' sexuality is more interesting ... but I feel bad about the direction it has gone, given its original topic.
Nope Raph ain't Bi....not after the way he's crushing on April in TMNT1...
Yeah ... that's silly reasoning ... the whole thing about bisexuality is that you can have a crush on males or on females ... or he could be omnisexual and get crushes on folks of any gender ... his crushing on April--or any other woman, or only other women so far--doesn't mean he couldn't also crush on a man.
I don't think that any of the Turtles are homosexual, because all of them have, in canonical sources, liked females at one point or other. I don't think any of them are bisexual either, but that's only because only a small proportion of people are bisexual anyway, so it's just improbable statistically. But their personalities in and of themselves don't make me doubt that they are bisexual.

Yeah, but that's what usually happens to silly topics on this board - we're always going way OT in consequences. In this case, people don't have much to say here, since they are neither genderless nor asexual. That's why we are slowly floating to the more exciting areas.
I don't think any of them are bisexual either, but that's only because only a small proportion of people are bisexual anyway, so it's just improbable statistically.
Kinsey would say the other way round.

The movie universe doesn't speak for the entire TMNT line. On top of that bi means they like both genders so how can you say just because he's crushing for a girl he isn't bi?
Really your being silly now. this whole thread is silly!

Dudette, he totally enjoyed wearing that dress. ;)
Not that that makes him gay--Fun Fact--there are more heterosexual cross-dressing men than there are homosexual ones. Granted ... there are a lot fewer homosexuals in this world, so I don't know the statistics of whether proportionally more homosexual men cross-dress.
ok, in the 2k3 series Mikey did appear like he enjoyed wearing a dress. Once in the outer space arc where he was wearing pink drag (he even had big ol' klunky boobs :o) and the second Nobody episode where he dressed up like an elderly woman he...was really getting into his role :ohwell:, even going so far as to call Dontello his husband :-?. Geez I guess Mikey does like to cross dress and role play. But he really needs to leave his brothers out of it. Poor Donny
However even though New toon Michaelangelo seemed to willingly put on a dress, old too Michaelangelo definately didn't like wearing one and seemed to be embarrassed by it, that one time he was made to dress up like a flower woman in season two.

I might sound dumb, but I could never understand the whole concept behind "pansexuality" and how it really differs from bisexuality, to be honest. I've always regarded that term as the as falling in love with someone's personality or soul - not with their genitals, which are like, the secondary issue at that moment. It's like - you meet somebody over the net, you chat with that person, you two are enchanted and infatuated by each other, you two meet in real life, you discover it's a member of your own sex you have been corresponding with for so long, but... strangely, you don't quit all your further contacts in sheer disgust, because it's like, the best person you have ever met in your whole life. So, you go on with the romantic allure.
But I guess I present a little too big romantic approach here, maybe.
What does "getting sexual arousal or enjoyment out of anything that you like" mean, anyway? It's like, you can fall in love with a chair?

What is it with this thread, it sucked me in !
From what I gather the guys have been pretty devoid of contact with the exception of each other and Splinter until they were teenagers. I am sure they romanticize even the slightest thought of companionship which for them it must seem pretty impossible. April for instance the most common person to bring up it seems was the first real opportunity to be close to someone human which they are partially, and someone of the opposite gender, neither of which had been in their lives prior. Crushing probably did ensue like movie one suggests.
Now as far as love and relations goes everyone or everything deserves it in one form or another, but with them I don't think the thought would really arise to often. Sure sometimes in the comics it comes up but I think its a far out concept even for them because of what they are and how they have been brought up. I just don't know that they would think it fathomable, they probably just assume they will be the last of their kind.
well whatever you think, you kno,i don't think that my original topic sux.=x

This is brought up by April in the "Sons of the Silent Age" comic. She mentions "the last four males of their species". She says it first about the mermen- and then realizes that this applies to the Turtles as well.

I think the term pansexuality was meant to replace the term bisexuality, because bi means two, and it's problematic for some people.
Mostly people consider that there are only two sex (male and female, but there are also the intersex) and two gender identities (man and woman, but there's also genderless and androgyne).
I've always regarded that term as the as falling in love with someone's personality or soul - not with their genitals, which are like, the secondary issue at that moment.
And you're right on that one. But honestly, some people do think that bisexuals really need a male and a female to be satisfied. But it just isn't true.
What does "getting sexual arousal or enjoyment out of anything that you like" mean, anyway? It's like, you can fall in love with a chair?
Yeah, this is why I don't like the term pansexuality either. It really means like everything-goes-sexuality. :P
If one gets sexual arousal from a chair, it's called a fetish. If one falls in love with a chair, he/she might be a chairsexual.
I usually get along with these two terms by thinking, that bisexual referrs to genitals (for example: "I don't mind what sex my partner is, as long as she/he is more feminine than I am"), and pansexuality to both genital issues and gender identity ("I don't care what sex or gender identity my partner has").
Okay, my examples suck, but I tried.
It's pretty tricky any way to define sexuality. It's like one's own genitals are referred to the one's s/he is in interested in. Like that "I'm a woman and I like men, so that makes me hetero." It would be a lot more easier, if everyone who are capable of falling in love with men could be called as...eh...mensexuals for lack of better word, no matter what sex they themselves are. And if it's purely sexual (like some who identify themselves as bisexual can't fall in love with people of same sex) it should be called as a manfetish.

I'm in love with chess. Does that makes me chessosexual? After all, it's all about queens and mating, you know...

For a while, I considered bisexuality as the "ability" of switching between males and females - but never being attracted to both genders at the same time. Like, you could reprogram yourself due to the surrounding conditions - or just pull your lever. After all - "your door swings both sides" but it's never on those both sides at the same time. Unlike in case of pansexuality.
This explanation may sound weird, but that's how I tried to explain the difference between bisexuality and pansexuality to myself once.

I'm intrigued by your explanations of the many definitions of sexuality. ^_^ Psychology major, right? The one thing that irks me is that your favorite character is Raph. Why does it bother me? Because it's so typical couldn't think of a gentler way to put it, sorry). While it's not necessarily a sexual attraction, I find girls have a tendency to prefer Raph as he is the bad boy ideal of the group. Like, if there were to be a 'bad boy' character who just happened to be a masculine-looking girl, you'd still find her interesting, but your sexuality might have you deny this just for the reason that it feels awkward. What I'd like to know is how you would define this state of being attracted to the person rather than their bits. :)

LOL. I dunno about the other girls, but I think maybe my liking Raphael AS A CHARACTER has alot to do with him being one of the (if not THE) most developed character in cannon works. He has alot of dimension. Its easier for our girl brains to latch on to characters who show some depth rather than others who generally have one dimension and personality, etc. through it all. I'm not attracted to him in any way shape or form....or any of the others for that matter.
As for the girl thing.....ew. no. "Bad boy" girls usually just piss me off in a movie or show or whatever.
as for the topic. They are a reflection of their creators. Whatever the mindset of the creator....that would be their orientation. Not saying that as a writer I could not create a homsexual character...or an asexual one, etc. but it would feel awkward to a reader because I have no reference point in my life to "flesh out" such a character. There would be alot of little nuances that I would not know / couldn't pick up on that would make the character seem not quite right (or the character would end up being a giant stereotype). Since I see no awkwardness of character in the turtles, I feel that they are all heterosexual males, as are their creators.
deliver me.
since whenever we start discussing their sex orientaion,it isn't a good idea, coz it's children's show, thus they ain't about sex.and if you talk about homo issue in the present of the parents, they ain't gonna like it.
does this make sence?@x@

Well, I wasn't talking about a romantic or sexual attraction. Your attraction to making friends isn't romantic or sexual (I should hope). But, I guess my question insulted some people as no one else wants to reply. :( Sorry. I have foot-in-mouth disease.

Absolutely. That's why the homosexual couples were edited out of the North American version of Sailor Moon. Queen Beryl had no female generals.

Isn't psychology studies for those who are on an everlasting journey to figure themselves out?
I do not believe in psychology.
What I'd like to know is how you would define this state of being attracted to the person rather than their bits. :)
Well, the eyecolor doesn't count, the hairdo doesn't matter, the length of fingers doesn't mean anything...why should genitals be considered any different than other outer features?
Okay. Maybe for someone it's impossible to have a sexual relationship with 'wrong shaped' genitals. That would make the genital issue kind of like a very important fetish. If this important fetish is absent, there won't be a sexual affair.
Consider bisexuals as people who don't have this major fetish (or it isn't related to people's sex).
Rather than psychology I do trust biology a little. I believe that the pheromones play significant roles in who we are attracted to. It's not like people can choose that "I'll go only for blonde males with freckles who are good at chess."

Following this logic, the creators can't create a female character with out the readers feeling awkward. Or...mutant Turtles? ;)
As an artist myself I would say that yes, the creator gives always something out of him/her when doing something. But the creation is rather about this is how I think about this matter, not that this is who I am.
E: I wouldn't reject a job offer just because I wouldn't have that 'reference point' in my life. I should investigate the matter and make it feel real. I think that is one thing that makes an artist a good one.
I'm intrigued by your explanations of the many definitions of sexuality. ^_^ Psychology major, right?

I do not believe in psychology.
Yowch! I was asking for that. :ohwell: But, like it or not, sexology is in large part dependant on psychology. I'm guessing you mean you just don't trust the conventional teachings of psychology as sexual preference, which you were discussing, is a matter of psyche. Psychology is just awareness of the psyche.
True. It really does fit the defenition of a fetish. As, for many, sexuality is ignited by the attraction to one's character. For example, I have no sexual attraction to anyone I can't respect. While the reasoning for it is related to my personal values instead of my sexual impulses, that makes it a psychological preference as far as I'm concerned, and not a fetish. Though it could reasonably be explained a different way that would constitute it as a fetish (though that would be less feasible as I didn't crush on even most of my teachers growing up, most of whom I respected).
...
Oh! And, for me, my interest in psychology is about trying to explain others. I still cling to what I believe is the fundamental belief that everyone wants to be understood. Why learn a language if you don't? Why play by the rules (or try to make others think you are) if that isn't true? It may be an instinctual draw, but it is a driving force of the human condition. So, why do so many people stop short of being entirely reasonable? Is it just due to limitations in one's own biological hardware? Or is it actually a misconfiguration in one's personal values?

Alright to answer the question of the thread itself, they're obviously not without any... uh... biological sex or gender identity.
As for the misuse of the word "asexual" and how that would apply when correctly applied, I guess it's for the best to practically depict the turtles as basically being asexual? Seriously, they are typically presented as the only members of their species and as brothers, so any implication of them having sexual or romantic attraction to any other character is going to be gross to think about.
is going to be gross to think about.
Well.... at least one guy in the thread will be safe from thinking about it - he doesn't "believe in" Psychology, sooo......
