I don't know if there has been a thread made for this but I figured I'd make one because I had an interesting thought...

So I'm reading Terracide (probably one of the saddest moments in TMNT history), and Future Don mentioned something... he said that their younger selves had just come back from their first battle with Animus. Archie never had a second battle or any other battles for taht matter against Animus. So maybe Animus comes back? Maybe Mutanimals make a return as enemies but then become allies? Who knows, but just a thought...

Good observation. Perhaps in Forever War he gets unshrunk? We don't know much about Forever War or who all are involved (other than Shredder, the TMNT, and Ninjara). Perhaps Animus is in it as well?

There's another encounter with Animus in Michael Zulli's Soul's Winter trillogy in the Mirage book (vol 1). Splinter summons a different version of him to heal the turtles.

But Animus also appears several times in sci-fi/fantasy: Doctor Who, he's identified as one of the Lovecraftian old ones, he was an intelligent megazord in Power Rangers Wild Force, a Greek band.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animus (wikipedia doesn't list the TMNT character)

That can't be the encounter their talking about because the Future TMNT are in Forever War. So if they see Animus again that would be their third encounter.

I'm pretty sure the plot of Forever War is Shredder uses the Time Slip to pull the turtles deadliest enemies from all over their timeline.

Then what would keep the Future TMNT from using the timeslip to pull versions of themselves from all over the timeline?

The Animus War is one of my favorite Archie storylines. I like the heroine. I like the setting. This is one arc that they can adapt into the 2k3 cartoon without resorting to other mutants or changing the main premise.

And what was published first- Souls Winter or Animus War?

A quick check of ninjaturtles.com shows "Souls Winter" was first printed in 1990 and "Animus War" in 1994.

Cool! So it looks like things are back on as far as it being released? It keeps getting planned and then cancelled, planned and then cancelled, let's hope this one sticks!

Plus...a trade of TMNT Adventures? More awesome news. Ideally, I'd like to see all the old Mirage and Archie stuff reprinted again, but then again...Mirage probably doesn't have the same resources as Marvel. One can dream (and chase down old issues) I guess.:)

Aye... expect Forever War to be out in 2009 along with TPB's of the Archie series. This is one of the many things being done for the 25th annaversary.

As for seeing the old Mirage stuff in reprint. There's many reprints of Vol 1 out now. Most of Vol 1 is in TPB.... Tales of the TMNT vol 2 is in TPB format.... Tales vol 1 will be someday (they're having some problems with it tho).

U can still buy copies of the Mirage and Archie books thru the official site too.

I tracked down copies of the colorized Vol. 1 trades not to long ago. I've also gotten books 2-5 of the Mirage trades as well. I also have a trade of the first 5 Image issues that I found a long time ago.

As someone becoming more interested in the Mirage turtles, what would the next step be? To start getting the Tales vol. 2 trades?

He very well may, and they take place in the archie series not mirage and I'm pretty sure it takes place in the archie future world but shredder keeps bringing the turtles enimies from all over time back to haunt them.

Krang was never an integral character in the Archie series. Neither really were Rocksteady and BeBop. All 3 characters left after issue 15. Rocksteady and BeBop have their own world.

I know Shredder's in it...maybe perhaps Hitler, Armagen, and Null? Dunno... Ninjara's in it...that's all I care really. :D

The original cover art was drafted back in the day, although a fully scripted story was not yet ready. More or less, the covers were used as the basis for the evolving story. With the cancellation of the series, the amount of detail put on paper is anyone's guess. The story is being written now ("now" meaning over a period of time where we've seen cancellations and approvals come and go for this project, lol), as Dean Clarrain is scripting and Chris Allan will return to the pencils.

Hope that helps :)

The blog entry itself has some interesting info regarding the end of the series.

Well, those 2 types of TPBs are done in black-and-white (as opposed to the comics they reprint having been in color originally).

I'm really looking forward to seeing this final huge arc come out. I always loved the archie comics, especially checking out new issues whenever I went with my parents to the Grocery store...

I remember seeing the covers from Chris Allan's site some years ago, and the details are incredibly good... I'm sure Murphy'll be posting his final cover pic of Splinter and Shredder fighting. It's a very gritty kind of art, in my opinion. I can't wait to see it.. :D

Murphy's confirmed it's coming out more than once, what more do you need?

And if you'd read any of Murphy's postings this week, you'd know there was far more involved than just a need for inking (and pencils were only complete on the first issue). Sheesh, Scrooge.

I'd be down for that, I got one that has Spider-man from the first issue till the first annual. It's huge and while its not in color I don't mind, it has lots of extra stuff. If they did color it would be 20 a book with only 5-8 issues in each book. I'd prefer black and white and like 25-30 in each book.

Since it's just to be a TPB, not individual comics, the best we can hope for is to have them as pin-ups in the back or something.

In the Swedish edition of TMNTA one person asked when the "bad artist" (Jim Lawson) would stop drawing the comic. The editor's answer was that the bad artist's name is Dan Berger (because he inked it) and that he was just a replacement.

Or something like that, can't remember exactly... Anyway, poor Dan for being called the bad artist when it was Jim that should've been blamed.. :P

* Disclaimer: I still maintain that Lawson has still got some very killer pencilling under his belt from the 80s and early 90s... he just needs a very capable inker behind him with their own style and flair to "fill in the blanks," so to speak. Left by himself and his own devices to pencil and ink, or with an inker that injects no style of their own into the inking... it falls apart.

Yes, it's very related. I would consider it essential. It was the story that introduced us to the Future Turtles, Armaggon, and Time Slip Generators, etc. IMO this was the turning point of the entire Adventures series.

I remember reading the issue as a kid and being kind of lost. I had no idea why Raphael was running around with an eye patch, or why there was two Raphaels. I wasn't really a Trekker then, so I didn't really understand the concept of alternate universes or possible futures, and having two different versions of a character running around as a result.:)
