Hello, I'd like to drop a line saying how something cool happened today...

Well anywhooo I work at TRU(toys r us) and today (saturday) I seen some kid with his dad and he was pulling his father into the store saying...look..look... back there the ninja turtles!! The father was like...huh?? the ninja turtles???...lol...it was really cool to see a new generation already kicking into the TMNT ..because for the TMNT to be a success...it really needs to capture that demographic... plus of course keep us on board... (I'm 19) Also it was funny to see the dads face like...huh??...what??.. the turtles?!?!.. Believe me I get tired of seeing kids come up to me...where's yu-gi-oh??? where's bey blades???...Harry Potter???...blah blah blah ...crap... seriously I know I'm speaking from a different generation but still the idea behind the storylines in pokemon, digimon, yugioh...and all that other stuff is just so simplistic and stupid....like kids today have no imagination (good job video games/t.v)..it's nice to see TMNT, MOTU,Transformers, and Gi-joe kicking back in...trying to steal away some spotlight from all that foreign card trading crap..just figured I'd let that out...lol

Agreed. May Yugioh, Pokemon, Harry Potter, and all that lame boring kiddy garbage rot in eternal damnation;) (I mean comic store guys got little kids hooked on Yu Gi Oh likes its some kind of crack cocaine...as well as the fact these shows give a bad name to serious anime)

Good to see companies are getting the idea that the old school fans are in need of 80's revivals like TF and TMNT, but in a new light...and for the new generation.

That's great and all, but it seems that you guys never even layed hands on the HP books. They are ALOT deeper than you think. (Ignore the movies.)
Also, Pokemon is a very deep Gameboy RPG. One of the best RPGs to come along in years among the Final Fantasys. (Damn kids and thier Crappy Pokemon Anime and Cards and side games.) The GB games is what it should of stayed as, instead of getting blown way out of proportion. Now, Yu-Gi-Oh, I'm not really into Card Games that mich,

I think it's stupid saying video games cause kids to loose their imagination. It's as stupid as saying that they cause kids to become more violent (which is a completely stupid statement IMO). I agree, they can increase imagination. I guess it depends what kinds of games you play. :ohwell:

It's not the type of video game. It's the type of parent.
Parents want their kids to live in la la land where there's no violence. So, they try and place the blame on movies and video games. They blame 'em for the way they raise their kids basically.

"Junior get my beer!"

"Hold on pah! I'm near done beaten this game!"

"BOY! What I have told ya about them games? They bad for ya! Not get my beer!"

If you don't want your kids exposed to it....DON'T LET THEM PLAY IT. Don't go and ruin it for us who do enjoy playing games. Sheesh, some Soccer moms.

Well, I play games more violent games now, but I when I first started I didn't play games like the ones I do now. The first really violent game I ever played was Doom, it really was quite a beautiful moment for me. But look, I'm not a serial killer!

My mom didn't give a crap what I watched as long as it didn't have Sex in it. so I'd be watchin' Terminator 2 while my next door neighbour would be watching Barney.

The really funny thing was, that toys were made for any movie that had action. Robocop, Terminator 2....which (Can't remember Robo.) were both Rated R, which is a no-no nowadays.....*Sigh* Thanks to Soccer-moms, there will be no Daredevil toy line......

Yeah, I always wondered, how many kids are going to buy toys based on a movie they probably won't be allowed to see for a couple years? I guess the adult collectors like them.

Hmmm...
Funny, I still have my T-800 from the original series.....With an arm missing....just like...the movie... :o :D  That's why we have McFarlane to provide us big kids with little "Violent" toys. :D

Okay...first off I also play video games...hell I work in the R zone which is the video game department of the store...what I meant by the statement I made was this...kids prefer games over figures...they get a visual with a video game... with figures you create an enviroment...When I was young I played both video games and figures...but I must say I had much more fun with my action figures and created battles that lasted days sprawled across my bedroom floor....I just don't see that anymore seriously...kids seem to not have as much of an imagination...not that video games is the prime reason for this...I just think video games have blown up to a younger audience all too quickly... let me go on and say some parents don't help either... I was in a Target the other day and this little kid with his mom was looking at the toys...he said I want this ninja sword!!! (the kitana/Leo weapon set) She said why??... what are you going to do with that?... then he said well what about this guy with a sword (Leo figure)...she said no...and suggested a cartoon vhs or video game... I mean let the kid invent and have fun... Finally again I don't hate video games...infact by working with them...I know like everything about them...lol.(can't wait for a ps2 TMNT game!!!) ..I just wish kids still showed the same sort of imagination... but anywho....I dislike Yu-gi-oh greatly.... and maybe it's just because I have to sell those stupid cards and video games all day...I'm not a big fan of Potter either (used to work at a bookstore...lol) But anyway gotta goooo...

She'd rather let the kid get a video game than an action figure? My mom would sooner let me get a $5 than a $50 game!

Each one got an "A" grade...go figure.

EDIT: Why don't we start a thread about this in GD? I'll start it.

What I think it is amazing that some of the shows from the '80s are coming back and kids like them. I tolerate the newer fads such as Pokemon and Harry Potter. I deal with it in the bookstore that I work at.

Anyway, why aren't they making Daredevil figures??? ToyBiz would've done a great job with those like they did with the Spider Man movie figures.

Yu Gi Oh is an abomination of mankind, and along with Pokemon, Cardcaptor and everyother crappy kiddy anime is a BIG reason why anime gets a bad name with some folks.

NOTHING beats the old days of video gaming, back when it was about fun over state of the art 3d cel shaded graphics(ie: late 80's console and arcade gaming, oh yeah...the sweet days!)

I hate Mcfarlane figure styles(Cept some of the anime ones) they reinvented the industry from cool 4" Toy Bix figures to 8" hardly any points of articulation/or too mmuch articulation grostesque statues.

Kids these days have been ruined with over abundant cgi movies, and graphics over substance video games. No wonder kids probably think the original Star Wars trilogy is a bore, and retro gaming sucks.

Though I have played Doom 3, what will be the first ever beyond crazy full cgi game...and let me tell you, it makes any game out there look like freaking Pacman graphics, HOLY SH** factor, and violence wise.
