View Full Version : New Power Rangers Is Just A Turtle Rip-Off

Anyone else notice this? I was flipping through the channels around 11:30 (Slept through TMNT). I landed on a show with ninjas. I started watching....watching....watching....And what did I notice? A lot of rip offs from Ninja Turtles and Star Wars.

The Hamster sensei... Hm, kinda like a Rat we all know and love.

The Hamster babbles on and on then says something "Then he turned a different leaf. To the DARK SIDE"......*Cough-Yoda?-cough*.....

The Ninja thing is kinda obvious....

Anyone else notice this?

not really. power rangers has always just been a cheesy pseudo-martial arts kid show.... that kinda crap, 'ninja' or not, has always been there.

Hey, Power Rangers had some cool toys though. I miss my Zords... I had them all up untill they went in to space and started to REALLY suck.

But yeah, now they do need to die. I haven't seen any of the new stuff for it, but I'm sure it just really dulled down. I woulden't mind seeing the Japanese version of the show though... with subtitles.

Can't find any pictures. Sorry. Aparently the hamster has the same story as Splinter. Sorta. Most like the old animated series story for Splinter. Was a human, changed into a rat-like animal.

The Power Rangers were actually Ninjas before hand, too. Way back in the day, I think I was in 6th grade I had stopped watching it because without the DragonZord it sucked. Anyway, my point is when I was watching it the Rangers had obtained some odd pre-stage to Power Rangers. This Pre-stage was stereotypical ninja garb. Anyone else remember this?

Brodie

It was in the movie, too. But that was still after TMNT.

'stereotypical ninja-like garb' does not mean 'ninja'.

Not sure about you guys but I hate this show also. I quit watching it back in 4th Grade. It so boring now they just use the word change too many times. I also found out that they cancel the Season 3 of SatAM Sonic the Hedgehog back in 1995. Now I know this show is bad to watch period.

 The things kids watch these days.

Just because it has been discussed before doesn't mean he can't bring it up, I missed out on the other thread, so leave him be.
Yea I was thinking the same thing, I don't think power rangers are doing as good as the new tmnt though, hopefully it will wipe the power rangers out. TMNT = sold out at walmart
Power rangers = 4 rows of not touched figures, and then some.
Seriously one day i'll bring my camera in and take a picture of all the power rangers they just can't sell.
The toys were never as good as tmnt either, they always had screws in the back, and brittle plastic.
LONG LIVE PLAYMATES AND TMNT

Power Rangers killed off the TMNT last time (admittedly though, TMNT was at it's weakest...), so it'd be ironic for the new TMNT to kill off PR. :P

One, the Turtles did kick the Power Rangers butts in that episode. They then proceeded to kick the bad guys butts.

I, for one, do not hate the Power Rangers. I just don't really like them. I'm not gonna watch them, but I'm not bashing others for watching it.

Thats due to the fact that in Japan the figures (not sure about the zords) were snap together model kits. Instead of making the kiddies here do all the work, they simply put the kids together and added the screw holds to keep them together better.

I think a lot of the power rangers hate is due to the fact that once they came out main stream TMNT (at the time) died. The show was cool, up untill the point when they started changing teams every season. Then it sucked.

TMNT appeared on an episode of PR? Where can I get more info on this?

Kali
02-23-2003, 04:51 PM
They (the TNM Turtles) appeared in a two part episode of Power Rangers in Space. The best info I can find is here:
http://www.fogu.com/nttnm/episodes/episodes4.shtml (scroll down)
Which has a full script of the eps.

I can honestly admit that the first two seasons of the Power Rangers were good. But after they started recasting the show every week, after they started coming out with new Zords every week, after they started renaming the show every week, I lost interest immediately.

After the second season ended, my interest died down and I never watched the show again.

Sheesh, I didn't miss much. There's been so many different Rangers, so many Zords, so many different names for the show (Rangers in Space, Surfing Rangers, Camping Rangers, Mountain-Climbing Rangers), it's ridiculous.

Somebody please put an end to this show before people begin to picket.

The Finnish channel that aired Power Rangers stopped airing it after the first two seasons. By what I've read, it's a good thing they did. The Rangers without Kimberly (she was the biggest reason for me to watch the show) and Billy is just stupid. Beyond those seasons I've only seen the movies (the first one is good, the Turbo movie is... well, the only good thing about the movie is that Kim and Jason appear in it).

I still watch the show, when its on, but its no longer my top priority. Season 1 is still my Fav, GO DRAGON ZORD, I really was into up up till season 7 (lost galaxy) when everything fell apart and we abondoned all ties to the pervious seasons (except bringing Astrnama/Karone back to be pink, but thats due more to an accedent with the then curent pink who couldn't finish the run). I didn't care till Wild force and Forever Red, which is still one of the best PR eps ever. But NS will suck, no conection to the other seasons, to soon to tell but the plot may suck, and the zords look like hell.

Basicly I hope they live so we can get abarangers and the return of the dinozords, other wise screw them, the rangers seem to have lost steam and are going down hill.

But the best of DVD may be worth picing up, depending on what eps are on it

I like to at least put something together. I hate there plots. TMNTs are 100x better than this show. I quit watching since 4th grade. It has no point to stay on air. And all they do is change all the time. None of the original actors are on it any more. I know they have no Advantage against TMNT. I hope they end soon.

They change the cast of Power Rangers every year to keep it fresh and it works. The show celebrated it's 10th anniversary last year and is now on its 11th season. I can't think of any other kids shows going that long without stopping.

The ratings are still good too, Power Rangers Ninja Storm is doing better then the new Ninja Turtles cartoon.
There are loads of Power Rangers fans who love the show and it has some brilliant plots which change every year as a new cast comes.

Take for example some of the plots behind last years series Wild Force:

1. We start of with Cole the new red ranger who was abandoned as a child and who has come to find his long lost parents...
2. Next we have Master Org the new bad guy and leader of the Orgs but we soon learn that he might really be a human...
3. After that we have ZenAku a wolfbeast who wants revenge on the rangers after what happened to him 3000 years ago. He seems to have a soft spot for the rangers mentor Princess Shayla. Why ?
4. Next we have Kite, a mysterious young boy with extraordinary powers - yet he has no idea who he really is....

And so it gets you thinking:
What happened to Cole's parents ?
Who is Master Org and why does he seem determined to get rid of Cole ?
Why does the evil Zenaku like Princess Shayla ?
And what about Kite ? The boy who has no memory of where he came from yet has amazing powers and a strong connection to the rangers past.

Each one of those plots was cool. The Cole, his parents and Master Org plot was brilliant and very surprising. I hate it when people say Power Rangers has no plots when they are clearly as good as if not better then those on other shows.
