'I know I'm asking for a world of hurt, but I thought I'd give us one last chance..'

Classic Bill Murray line that seems to apply here :). But, just in case anyone from Mirage still reads, and cares, THIS is what I and your fellow fans would like to see for the 25th.

At the top of my wish list :

VIDEO GAMES - All Turtle games released on the Virtual Console. INCLUDING Gamecbue, Gameboy, and Un-Altered Arcade games with music and voices in tact.

SPECIAL EDITION versions of the movies on the Blu-Ray format, with Digital Copy enabled.

COMICS - If not an old toon comic, how about a few issues of 'TALES' taking place in other universes? Archie, Old Toon, hell, even the Next Mutation while we're talking crazy ;)..

COMIC CONS: Classic Turtle Talent at the NY Comic Con..

That's it for me....What would everyone else like to see?

All I want is for trade-paperbacks to come out (preferably in major bookstores where they'll get attention).

If not the entirety of the Archie and Mirage series, at the very least they need to release collections of City at War, Volume 2, and Volume 4.

It just kills me that there are these great and long running story arcs that people won't have access to.

Everything else is icing on the cake. These are musts. Maybe not this year, in fact all signs point to it not happening, but if Mirage shuts its doors without releasing these, then damn.

Is the videogame still coming? If not, all we have to look forward to is the 3-part cartoon movie.

I'd much rather have all of the TMNT games released on one disc across all three next-gen consoles, than just unloading them all on Virtual Console throughout the year.

Also, in the way of figures, maybe have had new sculpts based on the old series, and possibly some nifty "evoluton" box sets with a figure based on every major line they appeared in (for example, 1988 Leo, Movie Star Leo, Toon Leo, Movie III Leo, Next Mutation Leo, 2003 Leo, Fast Forward Leo, 2007 Leo, and maybe a real BttS Leo). Speaking of BttS, we really do need some real BttS figures, dammit! Not the crap we're already getting. I think it would also be fun to have a set of Mini-Mutants based on the old cartoon.

Alas...

I'm on board for Gary being gone being my big wish for next year (or sooner...).

The unfortunate thing, though, is that whatever "wishlist" you want to create, it's pretty nearly too late for Mirage to make any effort to implement any of it (that isn't already in motion) in time for next year.

And keep in mind that at no point has this thing ever been about US. If it were, Mirage would have pegged us for input. But they haven't and when Murphy proposed the idea to Gary/Peter, they shot it down.

Really people, how much longer are you gonna stand for that big middle finger they've all been waving at us?

To Jim: Thanks for pulling the art load for so long and so much. But take a relaxing vacation to "find your true style."
to Murph: "The world is not going to end tomorrow (probably). Your blog can be a nice TMNT resource; we the fans really appreciate it. Censor those comments and call up Chris Allan to get that Forever War finished and polished."
To Ryan & Steve: "Ya'll just keep on doing your thing, dudes."
To Tristan and Paul: "Congratulations! You now have full freedom to write and draw Tales for a whole year straight! (Except when Dan and the newly reunited Peter & Kevin want to throw their hats in, that is!)"

Instead of restricting complaining to a message board that you assume people at Mirage are reading, you could try direct contact with them, through several possible means, to communicate with them.

While it is a safe assumption, things read here can also be easily ignored and passed over.

As the only person (that I'm aware of) who has actually contacted Peter Laird directly on the matter, I get pegged as the lone "bad guy/evil" fan. And that's getting beyond old and tiring.

I agree, but honestly what does it matter if it is inexcusable?

Despite the fact he seems to be deliberately not doing what is best for the company, he's still there and going to be there for the foreseeable future.

Frankly, some of his actions (like re granting the book license to a company that barely uses it because of a conflict of interest style relationship) would probably get him in seriously hot water if mirage were publicly traded.

Mirage isn't publicly traded, otherwise there is a good chance Gary would be under serious scrutiny for the books deal. And when I say serious, I mean it as in "misappropriation of funds" "insider trading" style serious.

Still, I understand what you mean. I wish they'd offer stock now, simply because the market is weak enough we could probably get a good chuck of it in fan's hands.

No, I was a pessimistic fan when I came out of college and realized I coulda just thrown several hundred thousand dollars into a dumpster and set it ablaze and have the same effect. :shredder:

All I want... All I want is for the DTV "special" to NOT be the last 3 episodes of BTTS.... And if they can't even deliver on that....

I'm stating to think this is just for casual fans with a little disposable income who enjoyed TMNT for about 2 years, and had their mothers throw out all their toys without complaint... People that grew out of it, and only like it now for the nostalgia factor.

Y'know, I never realized it, but we're actually being pretty selfish in retrospect. People have been referring to (as sdp did) other properties that have had anniversaries, some of even larger magnitudes, that completely fly under the radar because they didn't do squat to promote it. As much as I'd like more and better things than we are already are getting... what we know is actually more than most properties get!

This is a fair statement, but it still remains that we won't see things that should be no-brainers in non-anniversary years, pretty much due to Gary's business skillz. A lot of properties let anniversaries fly under the radar because they choose not to spend the money on it. Mirage is spending $1 million plus on this TMNT25 thing. The question will be, one year from right now, do you think they got their money's worth?

Quite true. It also is inexcusable that things that obviously should have been released this year (Back to the Sewer figures, old toon Season 7) are being held onto until 2009.

Well, Disney has bigger cows to milk (we all know what I'm refering to, and Bob Igor's a piece of crap... worse than Eisner ever was). Of course, it wasn't until they took the Mouse and Co and put them into a preschooler show till they got back into the spot light. I wouldn't doubt that they'd have some 80th anniversary stuff at the Disney store... I just can't tell, since all those stores closed down near me.

But even with rereleased movies with no special features, rereleased action figures, and one DTV movie that may or may not be the last 3 episodes, we have it pretty damn sweet.

You know what Inspector Gadget got for his 25th anniversary? A 3 episode DVD that got pulled. I'd kill for them to rerelease one Gadget toy.

So as p**sed as we seem, it's much, much worse.

I truly believe that Peter has mellowed a bit in the last few years about his willingness to do things. His insertion of old toon references into the new show, for example.

The problem is, Peter doesn't really NEED to have any drive. He's already made his money off the turtles, and if Gary says that it's not a good idea, who's he to argue?

..I think Gary shouldn't be the end all be all of decision making. they need someone there who's job it is
to TRY new product ideas without shooting them down for stupid reasons. IE. Comic Books in stores.... Why not just put one or two out and see how well they sell?

Add something further to my list: the next wave of NECA figures to freakin' release. I've seen many publications heralding their TMNT line as "toy line of the year", and they would have had less competition if April, Shredder, Foot Ninja, Elite Foot, and Utrom would have released. For Mirage to LISTEN TO THE FANS when it comes to business! That would be enough, thank you. Of course they can't do everything we want, but the fact that Peter and/or Gary turned down the idea of a fan panel just proves they don't care.

And I'm not one of the "We're the fans, they owe us"-people, I just think I've read a lot of great ideas here, and someone at Mirage should at least do the math on whether or not these things would preliminarily be profitable.

And I don't mean to defend Mirage but lets also look at the facts:

The tv show had been going on since 2k3 and it was never a huge hit, even the movie was treated it as the return of the turtles as if the new show had never happened. The bad thing of it lasting this long is it got canceled in its 25th anniversary.

Same thing with the toyline, it had been doing great for years then it started to slowdown and then thanks to the movie got a new grasp of air but while I agree playmates didn't help any I doubt they could have held to the toyline for a lot longer anyway.

About a new movie announced I'm sure a lot of things go into a movie which is why DC has yet to have any other new superhero movies besides Batman, I'm sure they'd want to make as many movies as Marvel.

I mean the show has been going for years and never took off and the "new" movie is about to be 2 years old in 4 months. The turtles are not in the mind of people at the moment and no amount of money they'd drop on the anniversary would likely change it.

To be more on topic though my wish list (of things that could actually happen):

-Official announcement of a new movie.
-Neca waiting this long to release the second wave on its 25th anniversary so the second Neca wave and a third wave shown.
-DTV being all kinds of awesome
-TMNT DTVs a la DC Universe/Marvel DTVs announced.
-Interesting/Rare downloads from the official site
-A tribute video of some sort

Well maybe my list is not very likely to happen

Well maybe my list is not very likely to happen

no, i really dont think those things could happen. only thing that could really happen is the movie, neca, and downloads. sorry to put you down like that if i did, lol. i would write a list but i dont really want to put my hopes up for nothing.:(

Another thing I'd like to see? An official release of the Japanese OT OVa's.

And again. Gary Gone.

Here's the pipe dream... TMNT balloon in the Macy's parade. All I;m saying.

And it's not like it would be unheard of.... I mean, years ago, they were doing only commercial mascots... and they were diving into obscure ones like Cheeseasaurus Rex and Ask Jeeves....

It's the Something-ith anniversary of the Smurfs this year, and they have a balloon...

Why not sending a TMNT blimp copy towards the skies of New York City?

Who was the one that said an "Evolution of the Turtles" box set of figures? I remember seeing a Batman set just like it a month ago, and that would really be a great idea. I just hope they have the original molds from the original movie line, as well as the Next Mutation (we might as well have everything, right?)

Can you imagine the press they'd get if they sent a 100% realistic copy of the turtle Blimp flying over the city? Especially if it landed somewhere for photo ops...

Although I wonder if it's technically possible to make one like that. I dunno much about blimp technology

Lil G seconds the motion, I'm #3.

Would love to see Mikey floating along New York City on NBC's Macy's Parade as well.

I'd think we'd be more likely to see Leonardo (ala the Halmark Ornament relelase) or Raphael... or maybe even just a Turtle with a Red Mask (ala the comics)

Wouldn't it be better to have an unmanned, radio controlled version, with just some puppets on it since the TMNT are outdoors in the blimp.

Since that's impossible, I suppose you want humans in turtle costumes?

All I want is for trade-paperbacks to come out (preferably in major bookstores where they'll get attention).

If not the entirety of the Archie and Mirage series, at the very least they need to release collections of City at War, Volume 2, and Volume 4.

It just kills me that there are these great and long running story arcs that people won't have access to.

Everything else is icing on the cake. These are musts. Maybe not this year, in fact all signs point to it not happening, but if Mirage shuts its doors without releasing these, then damn.

I'm seconding this. Everything else in comics seems to come out in trade paperback these days, but most things Turtles related have been out of print for years. I'd like to think that there would be enough curious or nostalgic people to buy this stuff if it were available.

I am still trying to complete some Volume 1 issues and also some Volume 2 issues. And if Mirage does a great announcement such as the trades for some back issues, i would still go on trying to complete the original issues ( in addition to getting the 25th anniversary trades i guess ). For something i really like ( such as TMNT ) i would be glad to buy both.
Mirage would put some extra material into the trades.
Vol.1 is too long to put into trades ( at least for a smaller publisher like Mirage ), But City at War trade would be awesome, yeah...
For volume 2, 13 issues is a bit long for 1 trade, but they would make it into 2 trades i guess. ( Tho i would prefer 1 trade )
Volume 4's present condition is not very well as you know so i dunno if Mirage would try to put pre-issue 29 stuff into trades.

As i would be very happy in case such things happened, i am not seeing it very likely.

What i want most is a hardcover ( being HC is not a must, but i would be more than happy if it was that way ), big size ( again not a must, but would be better that way ) TMNT Mirage Universe Guide with all the important characters, the plots and some art material...( As DK Publishing did at X-Men Ultimate Guide, Conan , Transformers Guide and such )
That would be just spectacular.

I seem to recall Steve Murphy mentioning a while back that project being in production. Unfortunately, it was in the comments that are no longer accessible.

Yes, a "Mirage Universe" book featuring profiles on every character in Mirage canon is planned for the spring. It is a collaboration between Murphy and Jake Black. It will be softcover and available through you favorite neighborhood comic book store (assuming you can get them to order it for you).

I hope this turns out well. It's probably the number one TMNT item I'm looking forward to next year.

Archie had some sourcebooks, see http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/archie/specials.htm. Why not make some sourcebook for all TMNT universes?
