Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't notice your Canadian accent for some reason. :P WalMart.ca doesn't even have them, but if you were to order the four 'slices' from DVD Empire, it would cost you $49.98 USD. But, that's probably a tiny bit more than what you can get it for at Amazon.ca ($59.96 CAD). At least, xe.com says the current exchange rate makes Amazon.ca your best option.
well, i'm not concerned about walmart.ca, i'm more concerned if the store gets the DVDs, cause the site doesn't reflect the store.
in that case, i'm deffinately going with amazon.ca if walmart doesn't get them

Maybe it doesnt mean anything, but it looks like the Amazon.ca DVDs do not include the figures. The DVD image is different than that on Amazon.com.
If that is the case, I'll go with Amazon.com.
DVD Empire is significantly cheaper for Canuks.

i'd contact Amazon and see if that's maybe a mistake, cause i've ordered from amazon.ca and have never seen anything different between both sites

I hadn't checked last time I replied, but... you might wanna get your eyes checked. And, Amazon.ca would be your cheapest option too.

The ad in the Vol. 1 Issue 1 reprint (free comic book day) said that this is coming out on the 19th as opposed to the 12th.

Oh, that reminds me: the other day, when I calculated those prices for you Canuks and told you Amazon.ca was slightly less expensive than importing, I used the prices of the figure-less, more expensive versions. So, actually, Amazon.ca is most definitely your best option. $50.72 CAD there vs. $49.98 USD at DVDEmpire ($58.72 CAD at the moment, according to xe.com) is a no-brainer.

well, as i've said countless times before, it Wal-mart doesn't get them next week, then i'm going with Amazon. there was once a time i purchased a season on Amazon, only to find it at Wal-mart afterwards, so i'd like to not make that mistake again. course last season, six, i got from HMV

You guys are in for a treat then the cbs episode from this season are some of the best in my honest opinion.
Personally, I think the 1992 Season had the best well rounded episodes. The 1993 season started out good, but as Soon as James Avery left, all the other episodes just lost the fun factor. I cannot STAND Townsend Coleman as Shredder. There's no heart in the character. At least Jim Cummings take on the character added some humor to him..so I don't mind watching him on the European eps....
I just wish we had more than 2 James Avery European eps :)...
As far as the second half of Season 7, the ones I care for the least, are ones I should like the most. Shredder Triumphant, for instance. Any episode that involves Technodrome action should have been at least 2 parts :). It stays stagnant for so long in the season, you don't want to see it moving for less than 20 minutes :)...

I got mine a couple days ago, anyone else think that the quality is down on these? It could be because I just finished watching season 6 which I also bought at the same time. The first 2 season 7 eps seam very much lower quality even compared to season 6 or anything else I remember and I have all of them on DVD 1-7 now except the Raph and Don Slices of 7. Perhaps they were done by another studio I did notice it said A Co-production between IDDH Groupe & Fred Wolf Films. Im not sure I ever noticed that with the regular other seasons.
I just cant help but notice the difference in quality at times it seems hard to watch. I'll keep watching perhaps the later episodes are better quality some of the character drawings and animation... it seems shaky and the characters dont emote as well as normal nor are the mouths in sync as normal. I could probably list other complaints its just off. I must have seen some of these on YTV at some point before as they seem vaugly familuar. Anyway just some minor complaints ;)
edit - it seems as though the quality picked up after the second episode I think I am on the fourth and seems to be much better :)

Got mine today at Wally-world for 9.96 each.
I have one thing to say that has nothing to do with the content, but everything to do with the packaging.
I have this weird anal retentive tick where I take the top label off the DVD and stick it on the inside of the case, just in case I trade a disk in, they can reapply the top label...or at least that's my reasoning. That and it's an achievement thing...to peel it off in one piece makes me feel like I accomplished something...i have no life.
That said, I loathe the new "eco-friendly" packaging with the big Recyclable symbol in the middle of the front of the case and the holes under the disk itself. Doesn't seem like it will protect the disk, and it makes the case a lot more flimsy...but it's good for the planet...GO PLANET!!!
Now the other point....THERE WAS A BUNCH OF CRAP BESIDES!!! There was the cardboard outer box, there was the cardboard insert to secure the toy, and of course the toy itself. A lot of wasted cardboard and to some plastic. If they made the point to pack the DVDs in the eco-friendly 20% less plastic cases, why use so much extra garbage. Doesn't it defeat the purpose?

I got mine a couple days ago, anyone else think that the quality is down on these? It could be because I just finished watching season 6 which I also bought at the same time. The first 2 season 7 eps seam very much lower quality even compared to season 6 or anything else I remember and I have all of them on DVD 1-7 now except the Raph and Don Slices of 7. Perhaps they were done by another studio I did notice it said A Co-production between IDDH Groupe & Fred Wolf Films. Im not sure I ever noticed that with the regular other seasons.
If you're speaking of the European episodes they were produced separately from the other episodes in this set. That's likely the quality difference you are noticing. The European Episodes aired on USA and the rest of them in this set aired on CBS. So you should see the quality back again at "Night of the Dark Turtle."
Of course the quality isn't that great. It's not when Liongate isn't even taking the time to restore these from the original masters. From everything I've read, they are just using some old video tapes.
I've seen this complaint a couple of times, and it doesn't make sense to me, because only about 40% of the episodes were released on videotape.
lol so true, and on top of that there putting the episodes in the wong order on some sets, and they even skiped 3 episodes.
It's not Lionsgate's fault that the episodes are in the wrong order on the "official list" on the ninjaturtles.com site as well (the year six DVD follows a similar but slightly different order, but neither was correct with "Leonardo Is Missing" so far off), although I would think there would be a list from Fred Wolf somewhere around but maybe Lionsgate doesn't feel like trying to find it.

ot mine at Best Buy yesterday. $9.99 a piece.
Threw the boxes and toys away, just kept the cases and the DVDs. Don't need or want that other stuff.
Watching the episodes randomly. I'm kind of glad this is the last of the silly self-referential episodes and next season begins Red Sky and a somewhat darker (though not TOO dark) tone. Since those episodes were never rerun, I haven't seen many of them, so I'm looking forward to it.
You know, a year from now, when Lionsgate decides to put them out.
Anyhow, still no "Planet of the Turtleoids" and "Once Upon a Time Machine". But Lionsgate still has three more season sets to get them out there, maybe as "bonus episodes" or whatever. Here's hoping.

You guys are in for a treat then the cbs episode from this season are some of the best in my honest opinion.
word! I really agree with this. Season seven is my favorite season of the OT. I bought all the season seven dvds all in one swoop (even though I could have saved that money to pay off a bill further down the line ) I just finished the first two slices with the European episodes and they where...alright. They where entertaining but it was hit and miss with me. The turtles where all over the place on their vaction that didn't make geographical sense to me. Either that or the order of the vaction episodes is out of order or something. :ohwell:
Some of the episodes where good for nostalgic reasons, but there was a few times I wanted to face palm my self. I will say that Raph's alternate really improved from season three and there where a few times where it came across as Rob Paulsen's Raph. But I did like that jim cummings was in this season. I like when he voices one shot characters. However I wasn't so taken with his Shredder, but it was ok.

Season 7 is really good, but I wish it had gotten 26 episodes. I don't really count the 13 European vacation eps as part of the same season.

Finally picked up the 'proper' Season Seven today. Didn't want to bother with the European vacation episodes as they look largely awful. Not a big fan of the Season Four era.
I'm surprised by the number of episodes I don't remember seeing. On the "Donatello Slice" I only remember "Night of the Dark Turtle" and "Escape from the Planet of the Turtleoids." The first two episodes were average, but "Legend of Koji" was a blast. Nice to see some actual fighting (which makes a triumphant return this season). The "Raph Slice" looks golden, and has some of my favorite episodes from when I was a kid.
And I can't believe some people are actually complaining about the boxes for these things. Why? When I get DVDs, extra boxes and slip-covers hit the trash immediately.

I just busted my set open today. I watched most of the Leo disk in the background while I cleaned up a bit and I watched "Invasion of the Krangzoids" while I had some lunch off the Raph disk.
I also watched the special features on both disks. Not to be picky but they suck.
I'll rant about it in private, you've been warned
I've seen better student work and it boils my piss when someone like myself would have done it better for free and they payed someone to do such a ****** job. The interviews and stuff were fine it was mainly the editing and sound design that were a problem. The audio was mixed like crap for a lot of it and some of the edits were random. Like the end of the toy segment where they start playing some weird ass turtle cover song or something for like 10 seconds and then it cuts to an ad about the turtles toys from the 80's and ends.
They also reused the hell out of the toy footage. Like was it beyond them to show more of the older figures? They interviewed Archon who has everything I see no reason why they couldn't have used close ups of his figures and cut them in instead of showing the same ****** movie figures over and over again. If I remember correctly those were your molds or whatever you call them of Casey and such right Archon? If they didn't mind cross pollinating footage, which an editor should never take issue with, they had no excuse.
Also if you look closely at the 25th logo you can tell they cropped the top of it off in the intro sequence and they show it again later and it looks fine. They also left a box around it for some unknown reason like they were too lazy to cut it out and blur the edges of it. They even went to the trouble of trying to match the background color with the color of the box around the 25th logo image.
It's just annoying. I expect better treatment for the turtles. They talk about die herd fans well you got one right here who doesn't half ass his work. Use them as a resource. I know for a fact I'm not the only member on here either who would be capable of making a short documentary and who'd be able to do a good job on it as well.

You know, I'm glad I'm not the noly one who noticed the quality. Especially the video quality. It looks like it was recorded with a DVD camera in some spots. Your Basic 1920X1080 HD Camcorders are so cheap these days with entry level units, along with basic entry level pro-sumer mics, that there is no reason they could not have sprung for good equipment.
If anything, it'd look good for a demo video they might show to future clients.....I dunno why, but I Seem to remember the previous sets extras looking and sounding far better than this, so what happened? It's the same company...
BTW, did anyone notice that Turtle add at the beginning of all the discs? When they still shot on each turtle, the photoshop job is so bad, you can see Raphael's head is chopped off, and loads of white surrounding him. Not to mention the still image quality is REALLY bad!
Don't you just love how everyone that gets involved with the turtles does a half assed job these days? Is the economy REALLY that bad?
BTW: It ALMOST looks like the European episodes where animated in 1992, but they used the same animation company from the 1990 season. The Europ eps had some of the best and smoothest animation the series has ever had. Very few mistakes, no cutting on frame rates, smooth transitions. Some of my favorite episodes in the series are from this season as well. Rust Never Sleeps, Ring of Fire, April Gets in Dutch. 'A Diamond to cut through Dimensions? Even Bebop and Rocksteady wouldn't buy that!' 'Oooh, Paris! Isn't that where all that plaster comes from?' 'No, you fool, it's where French Fries come from!' One of the few times Krang was stupider than Bebop and Rocksteady in knowledge :).

The story of why Krang is just a brain was never consistant. They probably never thought of exactly what Krang's old "body" really was. If you watch Three Musketurtles it shows a flashback of Krang and 2 look-alikes in bubble walkers where as in Invasion of the Krangezoids it shows him as an actual alien-like lifeform. Also with the shortened intro, they're just showing it how it originally aired on CBS. Every episode on all the sets that has had the shortened intro did so when it originally aired. I have episodes recorded off of CBS with it and the same ones on the DVD sets have it.

That is one sweet stache
Despite the innumerous, moronic inconsistencies in the series, the simple fact of the matter is that David Wise had originally intended for Krang to be the disembodied brain of a Dimension X warlord. It was said in ep 4, the first significant exposition of Krang's origins. And, guess what. David Wise wrote the Krangezoids ep too.

yeah, it kind of implies that he had an android body before, at least to me. but the whole lizard-like thing just doesn't seem to work. cause when you think about it, that would mean Krang is a head without a body, not a brain
I always figured that meant that krangezoids have exoskeletons, like insects. So, decapitation + de-exoskellification = disembodied brain.

i don't know, that sounds good and all. but when you look at the Krangesoids, even with that explaination, they still would look nothing like the Krang we all know. plus i still don't buy the whole, "he was a giant Lizard" thing.
they explain it as it being something to do with the cloning process, maybe the clones got mutated some how, and thus they turned into giant lizards. mutations do happen in cloning, so it's possible. plus Krang never said, that was his original form.

I don't know man the baby turtles episodes are pretty painful.
Nothing is worse than the Turtle Terminator. I like the pop culture references, but c'mon now. Also features TWO alternate voice actors, terrible animation, and Irma-centric story and an ending written by a 5 year-old (either David Carren or J. Larry Carroll, probably little Davey).

I don't mind the baby turtle episodes or Turtle Terminator. At least they had Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady to fall behind. A lot of the time I really hate the corny side villains they get in episodes without them. I actually thought Adventures in Turtle Sitting had a lot of really funny moments in it and found it highly enjoyable. Turtle Terminator also had a few good moments in it. "What humilation, the future ruler of the universe reduced to eating Chinese take out!" Though I will admit Irma was exceptionally annoying in that episode.

Judging from my knowledge, out of all the people we've talked to over the years, is that either Fred Wolf, or the animation company that was not apart of Fred Wolf Films, ruled things with an iron fist. Maybe one reason why in the Europe eps we get Vernon making cracks about cartoon producers as an inside joke.
from what I gather, the execs did not treat the cast very well, and where told if they missed even one show, they could be replaced instantly. Hence, Rob Paulsen finally had enough of it and left the show in the last season. My guess is that Fresh Prince was paying James a whole lot more than turtles, gave him more exposure, and the atmosphere was far more fun...so after a while, he just let his contract expire.
Although, little known fact, in our interview he told us that he auditioned for Shredder in the new show.
I just wish that 4Kids, if they get the old cast for the rumored DTV in the new movie, go back and re-record the eps they all missed for a complete set. As mentioned in the 'Ghostbusters Game' webisodes, they CAN go back and process your voice to sound like it did 10-15 years ago, just so long as the acting is there....so it is do-able to have it all mesh in..

There was a Rob Paulsen interview I read once from the time that he ended up leaving the show in the last season where he was asked about James Avery, and IIRC, the reason he left was because Fresh Prince had become more popular so he had to spend more time with promotion of that show.
from what I gather, the execs did not treat the cast very well, and where told if they missed even one show, they could be replaced instantly. Hence, Rob Paulsen finally had enough of it and left the show in the last season.
That's pretty close but not all the details. From the same Rob Paulsen interview I mentioned above he stated his reason for leaving. He wanted to get raises for everyone in the cast in the last season after having worked for so many years on the show, but they refused and told him they would be able to replace him and the kids wouldn't care or notice. Rob thanked them and left.

Finally broke down and got the sets yesterday mostly because I lucked out earlier this week in finding the Planet of the Turtloids VHS. Great episode and I glad I stuck with finding it (Now if they'd just put it on DVD...).
Anyways, I see (or should that be hear?) what people are saying about the VA subs. Whoever is subing for Rob Paulsen in the Europe episodes is just terrorable. I swear his voice changes everytime he talks too. Is he in all of Europe episodes?
Jim Cummings as Sherdder is great. I instantly noted it wasn't James Avery, but from then on I could bearly tell it wasn't him. I didn't even notice Avery was voicing him again until half through the episode he switched back in (I've only watched the first two episodes so far). While I'll always want Avery, Cummings is a great sub for him. I swear I've hear him use this voice before somewhere else though. Maybe it's just a variant of his Pete or Leatherhead voices or something. He played to many things to keep track of all them.
So, when does Townsend Coleman take over? I know it's somewhere in season 7, but not sure when.
EDIT: I don't want to start a Planet of the Turtloids thread just to be spamed by Liongate hate (including my own), so I'll ask here...

Watched all the extras today. What's with the random clips that have nothing to do with anything? Out of the extas, I think the toy one is by far the weakest (and shortest). Pretty good for the most part. They just need a shorter intro and get rid of the nonsense clips.
Also, finished watching Rust Never Sleeps and that's one of the most pointless episodes I've ever seen. It wasn't a terrorable episode, but watching it next to Tower of Power makes me feel like the show's trying to insult my intelligence. I really believe Wise when he says he doesn't write down to kids after seeing this crappy episode. Now to say something nice about the episode...I like that they have weapons colored like the toy's weapon and kudos to whoever forge those weapons becuse they work even better rusted:lol:

Correction, J-man: James Avery was in at least two of the Euro-Cruise eps ("RUST NEVER SLEEPS" and "A REAL SNOW JOB" [is there anyway you can not think of this title as a perverted pun? Seriously, what else could it mean?]) Anyway, I say "at least" because I'm still slowly tredging through them, cataloging them along the way (since no one else will). I've just finished "THE IRISH JIG IS UP" and I need a long break. If any of the Euro-Cruise eps are truly embarassing, it would be that one. So almost done watching the Europe eps, Raph's voice isn't that bad depending on the lines.
Sometimes he does do a good job with Raph's quirks, but some of the others fall a bit flat. Bit unfortunate, but at least he's not as bad as the two Season 3 eps he was in.
Also anyone notice Raph doesn't even get that many lines per episode? I notice that when I actually pay attention to how many times Raph says something per ep, its honestly only like 5-6 lines. Most of the dialouge is done by Donatello, and all the other screentime is eaten up by Shredder/Bebop/Rocksteady or April/Irma/Vernon.
Pretty interesting.

You'd think with all the various aliens in all those older episodes, they'd use the Triceratons in some of them, its strange they didn't use them for so long.
I think they also should have brought Lotus Blossom back and said that her real name was Karai.

I have to say this about once a month.
Lotus Blossom and Karai in the comics have absolutely nothing in common besides being female ninjas.
And if you think the writers of the 4Kids cartoon mined inspiration from obscure episodes of the 1987 show, you're way off base. It's just that a conflicted(!) Karai was the only way to fit her into the structure of the 4Kids story. 4Kids Karai and Lotus Blossom are both just common conflicted(!) archetypes. Don't look into it.

Maybe I should have been clearer in that post.. Did Karai appear in the comic first or TV show? I can't seem to recall where Peter stated the inspiration for Karai came from...
Who's looking into it? Besides, they DO have fans of the old show on staff, you know. So it's probably not a total co-incidence that the Karai Leo affiliation isn't a nod of the hat..
Lotus Blossom appeared in the classic 'toon circa '89. Karai first appeared in the City At War arc of the Mirage comics circa '93.

I just bought Parts 3 and 4. And yeah, like a lot of people have been saying, the Dark Turtle episode was great. So far, I've watched the first 4 episodes on the Donatello slice, and they do seem more action oriented, like in the beginning.
I love it. There are still silly jokes, and 4th wall breaking humor, but the action got pumped up a little bit. I was almost getting tired of seeing tons of episodes with little to no action. I loved the Dark Turtle episode though, because it was almost nothing BUT action. They actually destroyed Foot Soldiers with WEAPONS!!!
All in all, the European episodes, well, I got tired of them real quick, but so far, the 2nd half of the set is looking promising. And the special feature on the Donatello slice was nicer than the first two.

The way things worked back in the day with the figures is that people from mirage like Peter Laird, Ryan Brown & Mike Dooney would submit a crap load of ideas to Playmates and they would go back and forth until Playmates would green light the concept.

April's in the entire rest of the show, but the rest of Channel 6 gets phased out for obvious reasons.
Lord Dregg doesn't come till Season 9. Shredder/Krang are in Season 8, absent in Season 9, get one last 3-parter in Season 10.

I've also really been enjoying Season 7, the stories are really great and the action is undeniably great. The only thing I haven't liked is that James Avery is missing from this point on. It is my greatest wish that Lionsgate could get James Avery to come back and redub the Shredder's parts in at least the three parter in Season 10 and include it on the DVD as a special bonus feature or an alternate audio track. That three parter is fun, but would be so much better with Avery in the mix.

To end the discussion about Krang's original body a few pages back:
I was rewatching "Invasion of the Krangezoids" this morning, and caught the following bit of dialogue. It's not exact, but it went something along these lines:
Michelangelo: "Why're those little Krangs growing bodies? Krang doesn't have a body."
Donatello: "Yeah, but he used to."
Michelangelo: "That's right! It was taken away from him when he was banished from Dimensin X!"
Donatello: "Right, and the clone bodies have that information, like how some lizards can regrow body parts."
So, it is strongly, strongly implied that the Krangezoids do share Krang's original body.
And, I realized that they actually do call Shredder out on his "Wretched reptiles!" bit. Wonder why that was never a source of contention between him and Krang.

I always wished the old toon had a flashback of how Shredder and Krang met for the first time.
It's a shame it never happened. I imagine Krang crash-landed on Earth in a ship while Shredder was still in Japan, and Krang promised Shredder technology "beyond his wildest dreams" and of course Shredder agreed.
Scratch the ship part, and I'd think the same thing. He was more likely deshelled, then shoved through a portal. Dimension X being just a galaxy was only for the Archie books, BTW.

Finally finshed season 7 a week or so ago and got a few comments.
The Legend of Koji: They fixed the sirname of Shredder. It's now correctly Oroku and not Saki like in "My Brother, the Bad Guy". Continuum errors! Hurry!
Night of the Rogues: Was great, but why do they act like they know Scumbug from previous episode? They seem to treat Antrax as if they don't know him, so it's a little annoying. Tempestra also feels out of place in the group. Guess they wanted at least one female.
Revenge of the Fly: I was liking this episode until the Turtles turned into jackasses near the end. Baxter was going to change himself back to human and it would have all been over...BUT NOOOO...the Turtles had to stop him from, you know, curing himself and send him back to limbo...again.
Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter: They missed the chance for tons of toy cameos (Highcourt, anyone?). I also noticed Jim Cummings was Dirk Savage. Made me wonder why he didn't repise Leatherhead in "Night of the Rogues." Whatever, Rahzer's the bomb! He's my new favorite OT mutant. I thought I wouldn't like Tokka and Rahzer talking normally, but it worked out very well.
Invasion of the Krangazoids: I like the episode, but I'm in the lot that believes the Krangazoids are not how Krang's body looks. Mostly because I just don't like how they look and their vague enough about it that it could be either.
I like how this season brings back a lot of old characters and a lot that I never thought made it into the show. I enjoyed this season more than 6 and definitely more than the Europe episodes.

Even then, it's not much cheaper and I don't think any retailers carries it.
Random question, can I still buy them from Amazon with figures?
I moved to Mexico City before this set came out and I have the bad luck that the next volume had figures... I don't know if they will always be there or be like the slip covers that you only got if you bought the first printing.

Anyone have pictures of inserts of this Season 7 (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/releases/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Season-7-Complete/9296) edition? And btw, does every single disc editions (volume 1-6) comes with slipcase or was it just for 1 (embossed) and 5 (holographic)?
