I'm not sure if I like this. I've been liking the full season sets that don't take up that much room. Other the other hand, it's a neat idea.
EDIT:
Here's the breakdown...

I second that, except the punching. I mean season 7 is 13 episodes, unless their putting the "European Vacation" episodes with them, there's 13 of those too, that would still only be 26 episodes. This **** is ridiculous.

Why?
So, step one: Buy DVD. Throw out/store figurine. Repeat three more times. Buy DVD fatpack case. Stew over how much money you wasted.

i'm just wondering who they're trying to market this to... have a lot of people really been buying these for their kids? i'm willing to bet the majority of us older folks who've been collecting the show on dvd don't want to spend money on another season split up 4 ways that includes mini figs.
hopefully there'll be a box with the whole thing in one box.

On the up and up, the releases are finally getting some decent art.
Perhaps they will be packaging in the European Vacation episodes as well. Any word on a release date?

For us that collect both the DVDs and the toys, these are pretty cool. After all, these are the first brand new figures based on the original toyline (the rereleases don't count) since 1997.

Well, at least there's a coherent background and the drawings are decent. It's the best cover "art" since season one, anyway.

Just noticed the DVD covers combine for one picture.
Personally, I have nothing againist the figures but making it four volumes is dumb. I'm sure the European Vacation episodes are in there, but what I want to know is if Planet of the Turtleoids is in there. I still even seen those episodes and I know follow up episode(s?) are in this season. I'm having a really hard time getting into the DVDs after missing thise episodes.
EDIT:
I'm seeing 27 episodes (http://ninjaturtles.com/cartoon/1993.htm).
That's with the European Vacation side season, which I have no doubt will be included.
EDIT2:
Hey, with the European Vacation being the first half of the season, those who want these episodes right after volume 6 might be able to put them there if the episodes split right.

So are they going to be released separately or at the same time? If there going to be released at the same time I can see the potential problem of a lot of stores either having low quantities or not having all four parts.
Anyway, this is obviously just a scheme for more money. I seriously doubt each part is going be less than $20. Anything more than $10 for these things (which they wont be) is crazy.

I'm just desperate to get all the old episodes on DVD, and will take pretty much anything at this point, but that's really stupid. With the recession these companies are squeezing every drop of cash they can get on every DVD that comes out, and now this. I'm sure TMNT DVDs don't bring in a fortune for the people that make them, but surely they could have come up with something that was still cost-effective to produce while not so blatantly transparent.
I'll get em all, but I'm doing so under protest...

I've been in contact with SuperHero , the company producing the extras. Season 7 WILL include the European episodes and 1993 CBS.

so wait, I'm very confused here. season seven is getting split up? What will be the time span between each volume? How many episodes of season seven will be on each disc released? I'm not paying for a dvd that only has four or five episodes on it if I have to wait four to eight months for the next dvd with only four episodes on it. I don't care how cheap they are that unacceptable! Why at this point in the game Lions Gate or who ever, is going to sh*t on on our face when we've been buying the dvds since they've been sending them out? I'm just really confused. I want concrete information on the schedualing and content of season sevens release, not stupid crap involving cheap happy meal looking toys.

They did this crap to Fraggle Rock Fans, if memory serves it as the right company...
Although Turtle Fans are getting more screwed over with these confusing releases, assuming a separate Season 7 set doesn't get released..
Yeah S7 is being divided into four volumes, but they'll either all be released this year or at the same time so its cool. What made S3 unbearably long is each volume took 6 months to come out and it was one of the longest seasons.
The Mini old versions of the toys are awesome from the bad photos i've seen, I can't wait to have them. Also it looks like we will indeed get the 3 missing episodes/european vacation tour in this sets.
Continuity might be messed up but a fellow technodromer pointed out how pretty much all seasons besides the first have episodes out of continuity.
Looking at this news again in a new light, I'm thinking this might be one of TMNT's many improperly advertised products. I originally got the impression that these would be sold as toys with DVDs included, like how G.I.Joe DVDs are currently being sold. But, considering this is just a multipart revision of how they did the first 2K3 DVD box set (the first four volumes with a 4-pack of the 2K3 mini-mutant Turtles), I imagine these will be sold in DVD sections after all. The other way, you'd have to take into account chase figures and that sort of nonsense.
As much as I'd prefer all of Season 7 in a single case, this is acceptable if they all come out simultaneously or pretty close to it.

The packaging for these wouldn't be so lame if it didn't take advantage of the people who want to buy these most (as mentioned, this will likely cost us all at least $40).
The episode order doesn't matter to me, so long as they all eventually get released. I'm in the process of ripping my entire DVD collection to a hard drive, so I can easily put them in any order I want.

Why would you think likely at least 40? I was guessing max 35.
I'm thinking they're going to be $10 each. I would also think that each will have about 10 episodes. It'll be like the past volume releases which its a fair price about $1 an episode. What makes it sweeter is you get a small figure.
I personally love smaller figures too, they're easy to place anywhere without taking much space.
As for the artwork, the first season was awesome, wish they would have kept with that. However at least we're getting some pretty interesting hybrids the 2k3/87 ones were kinda cool, if they hadn't re-used them so much...and these 2k7/87 is also pretty funny.

That would leave only 10-13 episodes left and it'd have most of the Red Sky Saga. While I'd love them to just finish the show with theses, I doubt that would happen. With the European Vacation and the missing episodes as part of season 7, it's be about 6-7 per set. That's about the number of episodes on each season set disc.
That's pretty decent. The Mini old figures have coloured in weapons too.
I've seen a simular protion before when New toon season 1 was released here featuring scaled down versions of the current toys. Not sure if they were a UK/Europe only promotion but pretty neat regardless.

Yeah, the no sepperate season 4 thing? And since the Henson license is about to expire, they're clearly not going to do it... even though it would only need to take disks that were already printed and set up and put them in a smaller box, at no real effort?
They better have more than 4 episodes per disk. I mean, I do like the figures (and they look slightly different from the first set of mini-turtles), but I'd rather see both as box sets.

are you speculating or is this confirmed? Cause I wouldn't mind it being split up if it's released all at once. And saying it could all be released this year means squat because that could mean huge gaps of time between releases of several months until December. That's horriable, especally if they only have six episodes on each dvd release. I want to know the official schedual for this.

Basically, executives don't care. At this point I'm thoroughly convinced of that. The people behind pretty much all TMNT merchandise think the only TMNT fans are gullible marks who will take anything we're spoonfed. For the most part, they're right a lot of the time that a lot of us will take whatever we're given, but it's just abusive.
As a lifelong wrestling fan, I've gotten used to it. "What's that? No, you stupid little fanboy, you don't know what you want, we do! We're the marketing department! We get paid billions of dollars to feed you pablum while you give us all your money. We obviously know what's best."
And yet people in suits still don't know why people don't just run right to Best Buy in spite of a recession. Who the hell wants to stimulate the economy when it means having your intelligence insulted like that?

ok, not buying this..it's unfortunate because I think it's one of the best CBS seasons.
Though it seems there is no confirmation that there isn't going to be a single release edition.
It would be nice if they released the European episodes seperately, as they take place at the beginning of season four and are way out of order here..but there have been out of order episodes on earlier sets.
What they should have done was split up season 4 instead...they could have probably gotten 6 or 7 volumes out of that.
Tvshowondvd.com alluded to this some in a December post:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Season-7/10987
I guess I will get these releases if it is the only means to get Season 7, but I'm not too pleased that I'll likely have to pay at least 40 bucks to get it all. If all 4 volumes have the same release date, it will be interesting to see how much shelf space Season 7 gets at retail. I can't picture 4 different spots for it at Target or Wal-Mart. Would they try to put these in the toy isles?

I appreciate that they want to try some promotion or something, but I just can't help that these figures would be much, much cooler if they were released like the other Mini-mutants. You know, pairing the mini-turtles up with mini-figure villains... A Bebop, Rocksteady, A Shredder or something? Done in the same style, of course.

See... if they were smart, they would release season 7 as a whole season, BUT have four different covers/toys.
That way, the majority of us who just want the episodes at a decent price can pick our favorite turtle, and the collectors can buy all four. And if they still wanted to **** with us, maybe put different bonus features in each box... that would have been tolerable torture.

Was it Hero that mentioned the re-release of TMNT 2k3's first 4 volumes with the 4 mini Turtles.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/515W7T8W9ML._SS500_.jpg
Why couldn't Lionsgate do that, release the set with all 4 minis attached as opposed to the 4 "slices." I guess that's clever from a marketing stand point...right?
Lionsgate will probably be shooting themselves in the foot with this. It seems to me that most casual shoppers are going to assume these are all the same DVD just with one of the four mini-mutant Turtles included. "Part [#] of [#]" isn't an obvious enough indication.

I just found out about this earlier. I have to go with the side that says I am not liking this idea very much. I am all for getting extra stuff with my DVDs but now we have a staggered Season 7 release and I just don't really get the point in the long run.
I personally like the idea of the box set like they did with season 1. Heck I bought it and I still have my little mini figs on the DVD rack. They should do 4 discs and package it with the figs
This would be a really great opportunity to throw in missing Eppys and give us the European vacation episodes. That will have to be my possible bright side.

Well that sucks, I counted up the eps on the box and it comes out to 27 episodes, which is what Season 7 + European vacation is.
However this means Planet of the Turtleoids and Once upon a Time Machine are skipped AGAIN! :x
I can't believe this garbage! I don't give a damn about some 20 year old's TMNT collection (no offense to the people here who got filmed...haha), where are the two missing episodes?
What the hell is wrong with Lionsgate? Even after all this damn time, NOBODY can get Lionsgate to get the skipped eps on the DVD?
This is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. Go and enjoy your "20 year olds who own TMNT toys" special features at the expense of the two missing episodes. How about someone try to convince Lionsgate about the missing eps instead of giggling with a pair of nunchucks in front of a camera?
****ing horrible. Its absolutely pathetic and a disgrace to see this keep happening with every release. The fact that Red Sky is next means we'll probably never get the skipped eps now.

The representative came in and said basically, "we don't know where they go." Which I have to say, I can't see why they can't just add them as bonus episodes. Even, at least, put Once Upon a Time Machine on the first disk, evening out the 7 episodes on every other disk.
Or even putting them as bonus episodes so people will actually buy season 10, since they have a third of it on the first disk.

Details of these said boxes (http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Season-7/11277)Those extras sound awesome. New interviews with the Mirage crew and the old cartoon writers are something I'd been hoping for.
It sucks that the missing episodes aren't present, especially considering how awesome "Planet of the Turtleoids" is and the fact that yet another one of its follow-up episodes is in Season Seven. Groundchuck and Dirtbag's appearences are going to seem kind of random.
And lastly, I'm slowly warming up to the split release. No, it's not ideal. No, the figures don't grab me. But even if the price tag does total between $40 and $50, that's not unreasonable compared to what most televsion season sets cost.
Speak for yourself...
I'm just glad they put the old show out.
Lionsgate is missing a whopping 2 episodes, but give us the European episodes, which I've never seen, and I'm supposed to feel cheated?
Nah...
First off, let me tell you how I feel cheated.
I buy Ducktales volumes 1,2 and 3. Where's number 4? They can't give us the last 25 episodes, so basically I got an unfinished series, whos last release was summer of 2007?
I buy Darkwing Duck volumes 1,2. Where's 3? We can't get the last 27 episodes? So again, Disney sticks it right where it counts to those who thought they'd get a finished series of their favorite shows.
I buy Inspector Gadget on DVD. I get 25 episodes out of what 60 plus? They have no future releases planned, so another of my favorite cartoons goes unfinished.
I buy C.O.P.S. on DVD. I get 20 plus episodes (can't remember,) and they cancel any future release.
Same goes for any other show. I know of many on DVD that never even got to season 2, but here is Lionsgate, on season 7. Just 3 seasons away from a full series, and should people not care about red sky, then they can say they got the best seasons.
So I am thankful for this. Heck even 4Kids can't commit to release dates for season 3 and on for the current show. We know next to nothing about the current TMNT because of so much secrecy that is uneeded.
I would be very thankful to Lionsgate, and if it means sacrificing my favorite episode (Planet of the Turtleoids,) then so be it. Most people who devote themselves to certain shows either -
1. Don't have them on DVD at all.
2. Don't have a chance to finish their favorite show on DVD.
I can live without 2 episodes, out of 193, as long as they finish, and only skip 1-2 episodes.
If Lionshate sees this, thank you, don't think everyone speaks for each other here.

Thank god I still have the official vhs of those missing eps. Stupid Liongates, nobody cares that you don't know where they go. If you don't know where they go here's an interesting idea for you. MAKE THEM A STUPID SPECIAL FEATURE! Call them bonus episodes or something, nobody cares how they're put in as long as we get them.

Disney's Fault. Again, other than a couple lousy shows they think are profitable (yeah, why I saw so much of it hitting 90% off clearance, and why there was walls of it left, even on the last day the last KB was open), they could care less.
I buy Inspector Gadget on DVD. I get 25 episodes out of what 60 plus? They have no future releases planned, so another of my favorite cartoons goes unfinished.
Shout apparently didn't think it was profitable. They let Fox get the rights to distribute the series, and they promised to continue right where Shout left off. They offered one lousy DVD with 3 episodes on it, and a 25th anniversary tag on it, fans complained, they dropped it, and now are just sitting on the license, not knowing what the hell to do with it.
So if you ask me, we actually got it pretty sweet. All we're gonna miss is 3 episodes, considering they'd keep the DVD's going. Disney effed royally up with fans on every single release... not even bothering to put up bonus features....
Good to know they're at least all coming out on the same day. You know, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the perpetually-skipped eps wind up as purchase incentives for Season 10 or a best-of compilation.
I'd much rather have the missing episodes than fan interviews. Like somebody else said, I hope they at the very least put the missing episodes on Season 10's release since we already have some of those episodes anyways.

I really really really don't want to buy this season, due to the blatant "eff you" they're giving us fans... but I'm a slave :(
I guess I'll buy them all, see if I can some how fit all four discs into the Season 7 Part 1 box so this season dosen't totally rape my shelf space.
FU*K!
well didn't the person making the Special Features say the Lionsgate knows now about the missing episodes and that they were only skipped because of online guides?
In fact the biggest mistake is from online guides that the episodes are skipped...as long as we get them I'll be happy.l

I think it's kind of cool that the European episodes and the Season 7 episodes are seperate (European vol 1 and 2, s7 vol 3 and 4). That way, the European eps can go right between season 3 and 4. The season 7 eps in two volumes isn't so bad, I guess.

Well, usually when something's the SRP, it's basically the SRP for places like FYE or something. I could see Target selling these for 10 bucks. Though, I really wish these were much, much cheaper.
I like the cryptic "Just because there's no report of a bundled set doesn't mean it's not going to be a retail exclusive" (or something to that extent). Sounds like someone might actually bundle them all together for a cheaper price in the long term.

I wouldn't get too worried though, most likely the price will drop quick enough or you can buy them online for cheap.
You guys do know the MSRP of MOST movies you see for $20 or less in stores is $30 right?
Dr.Tooth is right only places like Borders and FYE charge the MSRP, expect to see them for $10 or less in stores. Cheaper online, also not a bad deal at all counting the bonus figure.
I expect most stores to sell them for no more than $12, but probably as low as $10.

I still say they're completely out of it not putting them somewhere as "bonus" episodes like the first box set and the season 10 episodes. They could have at LEAST put "Once Upon a Time Machine" on the Leonardo slice to even the episodes out.
Other than the fact that the toys and DVD would BOTH be better had they both been released separately, and of course the fact that these are overpriced, these aren't all that bad. At least they aren't 3 themed episodes put on a 15 dollar DVD... you know, like everyone else does.
Of course, they went about this all wrong. What they SHOULD have done is split season 7 into 2 2 disk sets... put a Leo figure in one, a Mikey figure in the other... then release seasons 8 and 9 a couple months later with Don and Raph. Solves the problem right there.

But that would be completely uneven, wouldn't it? it figures in, splitting 7 in half, about 13 episodes per set. Otherwise we have 27 episodes on one and 13 on the rest.... and my guess is that they'd make them cost the same to prevent any pretend confusion that retailers could come up with.

The point is they skipped over them on 3 boxsets in a row. The Season 5 set, the Season 6 set, and now the Season 7 set.
For 3 boxset releases people have been e-mailing Lionsgate telling them they skipped "Once upon a Time machine" and "Planet of the Turtleoids" and they still don't even do it.

The worst part is that Funimation has been trying to contact them non-stop about it (or so I hear) and they refuse to call back. The rumor is the license expires next year, but I don't believe it. Funimation should just threaten to release it anyway. Threaten. That way they can actually get noticed. Besides, I have said box set DVD's of said 13 dubbed episodes (and one chopped to death movie) and Funimation's name was stamped all over it.

Say in the Seinfeld DVD releases, they forgot an episode halfway through the series. By your thinking, people shouldn't complain and be happy they released the rest of the season, right? Come on, you KNOW there would be a huge uproar.
Why should TMNT be any different?

Not to mention that we could have easily gotten half the series with no word for years on any other releases (Disney, Classic Media/Entertainment rights), had 3 DVD volumes with 3-4 episodes (Sony's Ghostbuster Release), or better yet, there could have been a switch in licensing, causing the property to remain in limbo, since the new licensee doesn't even give a crap to the extent it's a wonder they even got the license in the first place (and Transformer fans know what I mean...)
Yeah, it sucks that somehow they screwed up and missed 3 episodes (1 episode and a prime time hour special)... but it could just as easily have sucked a lot worse.

Really, if the missing were 3 of the 100+ non-important stand alone episode, I doubt more than 5 people would give a damn. I know I wouldn't. However, 2 of the episodes were an hour special that sets up many characters for other episodes. It's like them skipping "Enter the Rat King," "Casey Jones: Outlaw Hero," and "Leatherhead: Terror of the Swamp." The 3 most used returning guest in the show. I really couldn't care less "Once Upon a Time Machine," but sence they need to fix "Planet of the Turtleoids" they should go ahead and fix this to.

Agreed Blade Raider. I remember watching the 1 hour special at night. This was when the Turtles were near their peak popularity. It introduced us to Kerma, Chrome Dome, Groundchuck, and Dirtbag. It was a BIG deal. What if the one single episode they missed from Seinfeld was the "No Soup For You" one?
Sure TMNT was "just" a Saturday Morning Cartoon, but one which spawned a gigantic merchandise line that was VERY profitable. I'd be interested in the ratings numbers for TMNT if they are out there someplace.
We need to stop giving Lionsgate a pass on this.....

Eh, Transformers had a dvd release that used unfinished masters and ALSO spread the badly butchered versions around the world, despite a prior UK Dvd release being better. I think TF's having long term repair problems trumps it.

It is annoying if the 3 eps never get put on DVD, but they can be gotten off the internet.
But that's the point. I shouldn't have to get those 3 eps off the internet. Those eps should be on the DVDs, and if it wasn't for Lionsgates incompetence they should be there.
Also, what about the less-informed TMNT fans who don't know about the missing eps? Is it fair to them who think they own the whole collection, and not even realize they're missing 3 eps?
And those eps are important too. One of them has Hokum go back to the Fairy Tale dimension and shows the Turtles in the future, and the other one introduces Groundchuck/Dirtbag and Kerma's Planet of the Turtleoids.
The fact that two plot driven episodes, (in the old shows terms) are skipped is ridiculous.

Disney themselves didn't cut parts out. There are A LOT of musical numbers in the Muppet Show and it's a rights nightmare. Anything that was cut was 'cuz they couldn't acquire the rights they needed to be able to include it. A lot of Muppets stuff has been plagued with this problem.

Here's the deal... Yes. it WAS musical rights. But they only cut sequences on the Muppet Show Season one. Seasons 2 and 3 are perfectly in tact. And that's considering that sometimes, no matter how hard you work at trying to get music rights, the music holders will NOT co-operate no matter how much money you throw at them. Did I mention seasons 2 and 3 were uncut?
But The Tick and their Disney Afternoon shows.... yeah... unless they have a random year hiatus for some reason, we'll never get them.

The sound was completely altered, and they attempted to "Re animate" certain scenes in a way that made some of the best episodes "heavy metal war" and such, virtually impossible to watch. This because they didn't want to pay to use broadcast masters like the British had.

pretty dumb to release the dvd's this way...most tmnt fans will buy them, if grudgingly so. other than that, i think they'll flop. dvd sales are way down and continuing to sink, people are spending less money and being a lot more cautious- to split the release into not 2 but FOUR separate volumes and bundle it with an action figure no one asked for isn't just irritating, it's stupid.

Then we can whine about how they don't have special features. :trazz: At least seeing special features smacks of some sort of effort or care. Not even Disney did it with ANY of their box set releases. I mean, how hard would it have been to get Jim Cummings to sit down between doing Pooh's voice to talk about one of a million roles he had in those shows?
About the figures though.... When these come out, first person to get them HAS to do a side by side comparison of these figures compared to the other mini-turtles that were available at Family Dollar... I know the weapons are different... I just want to make sure.

Yikes... that sounds a bit extreme. I'm not sure if you're just saying that or if you really plan to do it. But if it's the latter, then I'd like to state that I, personally, doubt it'll accomplish the desired goal. It'd probably just piss them off more than motivate them to try and please the consumer that's sending them disfigured figures.
I know everyone wants those three missing episodes, but such negativity might hurt the cause more than aid it. And from what I've been able to gather, it seems like Lionsgate has been pretty open about connecting with the fans (or at least that's the impression that I get). Whatever the solution to getting those episodes may be, I would wager that borderline threats wouldn't be it. Just sayin'.

I'm not sure if they're removable, like the TMNT mini movie figures.

that would kinda suck if they're not removeable

I'll be getting the DVDs and then doing something to disform the figures, send them back to Lionsgate with a message that says, "I didn't buy these DVDs to get action figures, I bought them to get the cartoon and all it's episodes, of which 3 are still missing. Get your act together."
Or you could probably eBay them if you didn't want them. That might work too.:ohwell:

Walmart won't have them, they never get new TMNT stuff anymore.
Wal-Mart still does site-to-store, and their site has them. Wal-Mart only has them 3 cents cheaper per slice, and site-to-store doesn't cost you shipping. But, I'd go with Amazon just because it's simpler. Unless you're sure you're going to be at Wal-Mart that day anyway, I'd think it's worth an extra 12 cents to save yourself the trip.

You have to pay tax with Walmart, but not with Amazon.
Oh, good point. Thanks for pointing that out, Rose. :) So, Amazon's still cheaper.

well, i got last season from HMV, but i'll likely as i said, get Season 7 from Wal-mart
Nines was right. They're cheapest at DVDEmpire.com at $9.62 per 'slice', no tax (except for residents of the state they ship from, though I forget where that is) and free standard shipping. I've never had a preorder arrive more than a day late from a reputable company like this... except from DeepDiscount for a while after they were just sold.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't notice your Canadian accent for some reason. :P WalMart.ca doesn't even have them, but if you were to order the four 'slices' from DVD Empire, it would cost you $49.98 USD. But, that's probably a tiny bit more than what you can get it for at Amazon.ca ($59.96 CAD). At least, xe.com says the current exchange rate makes Amazon.ca your best option.
