Shredder as a legacy character

Do you think Shredder as a mantle ranther than being Oroku saki is great idea.
In the Mirage comic had four person to wear the mantle of the Shredder if count Image volume 3.The 4kids tmnt cartoon also had four chracter as the Shredder.

I'm OK with it being a legacy character. Because "The Shredder" is a moniker.

Even though the Mirage comics (in proper continuity) haven't really used the concept, I do like it better as a mantle. Raph becoming the new Shredder was seriously one of the best ideas in any Turtles media ever.

I like Shredder as a mantle, actually. I like the idea of the bad guy being a symbol.

Also like Batman as a mantle as well (Batman Beyond).

I do hate the Green Mantle though :P

He shows first shows up in Volume 4...#28, I think.

The legacy idea might work for some characters, but I prefer Shredder as just Oroku Saki. I'm not familiar with the other "Shredders," so I guess I'm biased, but I like the idea of Shredder being Oroku Saki's specific alter ego. The problem with a lot of legacy characters is generally no one can live up to the original (like the Batman Beyond example), so it just ends up disappointing to see a different person fulfill the role. It works better when a mantle character is originally played by multiple people rather than being strongly associated with one particular person's alternate identity.

Don't forget "The Incredible Shrinking Turtles" in the 1987 TMNT Cartoon, where Michelangelo dresses up as Shredder in the Central Park. :)
