I also learned that directly (even the Hamato Yoshi-Splinter difference between the 1987 cartoon and the movies) because one of the first TMNT things I ever bought was a VHS tape with the first season.

That is totally different though. That's seperation of art and artist right there. I might not know everything about Disturbed for example, but I like a lot of their songs and could sing a lot of them verbatum. Not only that but Wolverine 'didn't have' bone claws until recently. It was a given they just came with the Adamantium fusing. When Magneto ripped the metal out of his body, they suddenly came up with 'oh wait, he had bone claws all along'. IMO it was cause it took so long for him to get his adamantium back, and well.. Wolverine without his claws for a few years.. so yeah.. give him bone claws....
