Are the Mutanimals just the Teenage Mutant Care Bear Cousins?

It just occurred to me. The Care Bears were all bears. The TMNT were all turtles. The Care Bear Cousins were various, random animals. The Mighty Mutanimals were various, random animals. Of course, the similarities pretty much end there. But, here's my question: seeing as it was Murphy who cobbled together this band of brothers, do you think he had this in mind? After all, peaceniks and conservationists are opposite sides of the same humanitarian/mutanimalian coin. ^_^

Nothing in Care Bears ever suffered death by rocket launcher, though if it did I would be highly entertained. It's possible. I always assumed he noticed that we had this back log of mutants and putting them together into a team made sense.

I actually blame the drugs. According to Murphy's blog, Contains Traces Of..., he and at some unnamed others were on coke, at the peak of the TMNT's popularity. At least, that's what it implies.

The cocaine addiction I developed through my on-again off-again friendship with my coworker, Lurch.

The whole drug thing was this faux hipster shadow existence... being lived by the late night shift of various characters circling about the Adolescent Trouser Snake phenonemon when it was at its peak a few years ago.

Still, I bloody love the Mighty Mutanimals!
