One Turtle has to die... you choose which

Hypothetical situation: a villain has a firing squad of machine gun-toting thugs trained on all four Turtles -- they Turtles are dead in their sights and there's no escape, not even for them.

The villain makes you an offer: Pick one Turtle to die and the other three will live. If you don't pick any, then all four Turtles will die.

For the sake of argument let's assume the villain will not attempt any kind of doublecross.

So... which Turtle should die, and why?

Because no matter who I choose, he'll be the one most likely to dive out in front of the bullets to take them for his brothers.

Raph. Mikey would become more driven to use his potential and even surpass Leo in terms of skill after Raph's death. Donnie is too important to let die in terms of his clear head, tech saviness and his uncanny ability to create sh*t out of garbage. Leo is the Leader and the most skilled of the four, killing him would demoralize the rest, even moreso than any of th other turtles dying. Without Raph they don't have their power forward so to speak, and eventually the team will fall without him, but his temper and his not wanting to be led attitude sometimes are a liabilty to the team. Tough call though. This is in the Mirage universe right? Cuz if it's 2k3 then I'd kill Mikey

I think regardless of canon (well, save for OT maybe, there I'd probably say it'd be Leo), it'd be Raph. Leo would be the one who'd say he's going to take the death, but then when Leo's about to be gunned down, Raph would knock him out of the way and take the bullets. Their dislike for each-other may run deep, but I suspect Raph's respect for Leo runs even deeper...or something.

I should clarify, this is my answer based on who WOULD die in the situation, not really who I'd pick personally. I can't really decide on the other way of looking at it.

This is very hard since aach turtle is unique, so the loss of one would weaken the team.

Leonardo is the most disciplined and the most skilled Ninja of the team. He's also the leader, every team needs one or else they will have trouble staying united or getting moralised.

Donatello is like MacGuyver, he can make something explode with a chewing gum and a soda, he's also responsible for fixing broken appliances and making new vehicles to help the team in battle. He can also defuse bombs, hack into computers and shut down security systems and ended up saving their lifes many times, you can't let someone like that just die.

Raphael is the most aggressive and physically strongest turtle. He's the one that's least likely to have qualms when it comes to hit or even kill enemies, someone like that always comes in handy when you're feeling unsure or hesitant. If he died the others would get in less trouble that's for sure, but there's been times where Raph's reckless behaviour has been a great help to the team, sometimes a bit of irreverence isn't a bad thing.

Michelangelo while being somewhat of an airhead is very talented at fighting and can light up the mood when everyone's down. If Mikey died I'm affraid his brothers wouldn't be able to smile anymore.

In the end, I just couldn't chose. That's right, I'd rather let all of them die at the same time since if I let one of them die the rest of the team would be seriously affected by the loss of one of their brothers and one day would eventually lose a battle resulting in the other three dieing.

PS: Let's not forget the fact that if I let one of them die the others would come after me. :P

I was thinking a long these same lines... I can't really pick one of the four but something like this panning out in a story seems very feasible to me.

Depending on what TMNT universe we're talking about I'd almost assuredly lean that way.

I feel the urge to point out if you kill Donnie you get Same as it Never Was.

I'm not going to pick but I think in a scenario in which one turtle has to choose to die to let the others live its inevitably going to be Leo or Raph. And as Gyt put it, Raph would surely push Leo out of the way and Leo would do the same for Raph.

If Leo dies we might have something similar to the 2007 movie only Leo never comes back.

If Raph dies, Leo would probably have a hard time letting go of the pain and that would affect him as a leader. You might end up with a very cynical Leonardo. Somewhat like Raph often is.

Yeah... I couldn't choose. Mikey is my favorite but I like the other three too much to throw any of them under the bus.

If Raph dies
Leo would train even hard to forget the pain and then would struggle between good and evil. Not being evil, but crossing the line morally with his thirst of vengence being like a dark version of Nightwatcher.

Mikey like mentioned early would become inspired and begin to train with Leo and become the best natural fighter. He would lose his comedic style and become more like Leo was b4.

Don would entrench himself with technology. He would build them awesome battle armor. Like Nightwatchers except better.

Splinter would probably feel so guilty he would join the turtle on every mission making sure none of his other sons would never die b4 him again.

The turtles would seek vengence first and surely achieve it. They would ulimately eliminate crime, but being wanted themselve by all authorities and become rogues. Constantly running and hiding.

If I could, I would pick none. This is a pretty horrible thread, but I have an sadistic answer to match. :tgrin:

I went with Mikey because that would bring a certain darkness to team that maybe interesting. For several reasons (particularly because he is like the little brother of the group and "the party dude"), he would be the hardest death for the TMNT to get pass and sometimes the hardest death is the best death storywise. Because Mikey tends to be the emotional support of the group (someone mentions he brings the smiles), I believe things would fall apart in more interesting ways.

However, in this situation Leo'd do something amazing/stupid and end up saving them all or doing his best to save them all. So maybe Leo would fall and that'd be disaster for the surviving three.

This thread is a little sad, but hey, it's creative. So let's see...(thinking logically) if one turtle were to die I'd have to consider how it would effect them in saving the world and all. Leo is a no brainer and should obviously stay (but that's an obvious subjective statement since I'm a Leo fan here), Don has a lot of pressure on him to help the turtles for the most part, without him they'd probably be lost with a cheap compass. Raph has proved himself useful by getting into situations and handling them pretty well, given his attitude isn't the best doesn't mean he should be despised and thrown under the bus.

So, after briefly debating myself, Mikey happens to be my last option. I mean sure he's fun and keeps the group entertained, and you can never ever replace him, but in regards to how it would all end up in the future he seems to be the obvious choice. This isn't saying I hate him, I'm just trying to think logically of the situation.

I don't know about that I think if Raph died it would be the most interesting.
Like I said b4 I think Leo would stuggle with good and evil. Mikey would go into a depression and begin to train unrelentlessly and become the ultimate ninja, but at a price. He would become silent, rarely talk. Mikey really like Raph in the the 2k3. He pissed him off all the time, but they were really close. I am not sure how this would affect Donny. If I had to gues I would say Don might actual abandon his ninja ways and focus completely on Technology. I think this could ultimately either get him kill and leave an intersting turtle dou. Or have some sort of backlash.:ohwell:

Raph or Mikey perhapse. This decision is not based on how much love I have for the turtles. It's out of technical reason. How it will affact the team if one of them disappears. A leader and a scientist are indispensible in a team. As to the muscle...:roll: But this question is cruel. The team will never be the same as before once a brother disappears. That being said, I voted for Raph, because I feel like that would cause the least amount of strain on the TMNT. Not that Raph isn't vital, but, as most of you have also stated the team might not totally fall apart with Raph's death. I don't know. Maybe it would...

Either way, killing Mike would cause the most drama (I agree with what has been said about that) but even if it was Mikey to die first, Raph would not be far behind either way. Raph and Mikey are extremely close, there's no way Raphael would just sit around after somebody kills Mikey. He would, blinded with revenge, go out and seek it, and most likely get it --- dying himself in the process, at least the way I see it.

WOW!!! That's a hard question to answer being I like all the turtles. But i am going to answer this so here it goes, to answer the question my answer is Mikey. Now i am sure i will get blasted for this but that's my OP. Now let's talk about why. Well in the OT the first handful of episodes Mikey is training with Leo in won episode I remember and Splinter is telling him something along the lines of Mikey your not focusing but of course does not listen cause Leo hands his butt to him. That's Mikey's problem he just does not seem to wanna give 100% to the team and to focusing on his study's and fighting crime. He constantly wants to goof off.

Another example would be in movie 1 when Splinter is telling the turtles he is not always going to be around and etc etc, well where's Mikey during this? On the phone worried about pizza. And then in the sewer when he is waiting on the pizza guy and Donny comes skating up and asks did you ever think about what Splinter said tonight about not having him? What's he do? He just blows Donny off and is nonchalant about it. Don't get me wrong I like all the turtles and all have there ups and downs but Mikey would def have to be my decision. Sorry Mikey fans!
