That would be l33t. I'm not fluent, I just know enough to understand Largo in MegaTokyo. Man, I can't believe I just uttered that sentance...

Google can translate web pages, I believe they call it hack speak on their site, but most people know it as l33t

Lol that's really what it is... I think it's lame because everytime you go on an Online game like PSO, there are several people saying crap like "That suxxorz!!!!!111!!1" or "I am teh l33te3st!"

The people that created it were probably high on pot.

Yeah, do a search on Google, you'll find it, it seems to be mostly replacing Letters with Certain Numbers

Peanut
04-07-2003, 12:19 AM
Yeah I just checked it out. That's basically what it is. You can memorize the few differences within a minute. N0w 1 c4N t4lK l1k3 4 J4cK455!

SavantiRomero

Yes there is an alphabet.

l337 dud3 5p34ch was derived from computer admins who wanted a way to remember passwords by replacing letters in words with numbers.

It's simple really

A = 4
E = 3
T = 7
I = 1
S = 5
g = 9
etc etc.

Replace ! with 1's also. There are variations but that's the simplistics of it. Then you just have to learn how to talk like a geek.

I'm a leet dude!

1'm 4 l337 dud3!11111

you suck

j00 5uxxor!1111!11

etc etc. It's extremely popular in Everquest.

Just yesterday we were using TEH L33T SPE4K1NG in irc just to annoy people, yknow, for the heck of it :D talk about a coincidence.
Th1s thread pwnz joo OLO!1!
This language was made so when hackers went on search engines they could find eachother's hacks without being discovered, but with megatokyo, jeffK and online gaming it got more popular.

I always hated that stupid 133t speak or whatever the hell it is. I mean, I'm a geek, but how geeky do you have to be to create an entire language just to feel "special"?

I never saw HorseTechie as a face, I always thought she was a tweener too. She definitely got some heel heat from a few people when she locked that April thread.

Kali's definitely a face, though. If you want I could work an angle with her, but the smarts already know that you're the booker and that my de-push is a punishment, so I doubt it would help her get over. I'd be willing to do a stretcher job, but I doubt that would help.

If you're not careful I'm gonna cut a shoot promo on you in the dirt sheets, bro.

you see, it's simple I'll work an angle and tell everyone that' HT's locking the thread was forced by the "powers that be", and then I can have her turn on "powers that be" By giving a "shoot" interview to the crowd...

Bam, she's got a face pop everytime she comes out and I put the title on her

Leo656
04-09-2003, 08:15 AM
Worked shoots never work. All it does is confuse the marks and the smarts already think everything sucks.

And I'm not jobbing to HT either, on grounds of my Creative Control. She'll have to get over on her own. She's too green, she's not ready for that kind of push. She exposes the business constantly.

k I just wanna clear something up, 1337 is not a "language" as far as I know. It's just what some geeks (no offense to anybody) like to type on the computer. people don't actually speak it. How could you speak it?

"one space four-m space h-four-x-zero-r-one-seven-three"

1 4m 4 h4x0r173.

Well, according to the dictionary a language can be either spoken or written. It doesn't have to be both. One example: sign language isn't "spoken". I was just trying to say that 1337 speak is super geeky to begin with...

It's funny, I've actually "spoken" l337. Actually, my brother "spoke" it first, saying to my other brother that he "5uXX0r5" (sucks) or however you spell it. I cracked up laughing and translated and brother #1 looked horrified. "J00 5p34k l337? (You speak leet?)" And I replied. "Y35, 1 4/\/\ l337. (Yes, I am leet.)" (The language is spoken just like English, just with a couple word changes and a few inflictions.) And brother #1 went off swearing that I'd ruined all his fun. :lol: I'm a cruel older sister.

Please note, that I only did this to thoroughly embarrass and piss off my dorky brother, and I never speak leet in a serious way, only to make fun of it. I'm a freak, not a dork. (No offense to dorks.)
