New to the board... hey everyone.

Anyways, anyone know what differences Laird and Eastman have that prevents them from working on TMNT together? Eastman said in his interview with Ninja Turtles Network that they had different "visions" for the Turtles. Any links or input would be appreciated.

And anyone know where I could upload a small avatar pic so that I can use it instead of this pre-fabricated built in one? Thanks.

I think Eastman was tired of the Turtles and wanted to concentrate on "Heavy Metal". He was also probably tired of being the "Turtle guy" and, didn't want to be a "one-trick-pony".
Meanwhile Laird still loves the TMNT and doesn't mind his association with them.
I think that's it.

That thread explains it better than i can. But Welcome to the boards anyway.

Yes, that thread explains everything.

But I really want to emphasize that Kevin still loves the TMNT, too. He spends a lot of his time at Comic-Con every year happily drawing and talking TMNT to people. And last year he published his Artobiography book, which is all TMNT.

Yeah Kevin hasn't copped out on the TMNT as some people might put it. He never truley intended to stay with that project. When they created the TMNT it was to get them started into comics.

Neither knew what would come.

Kevin still does things, as mentioned above, like being at Comic Con International in San Diego each year, granted with the Heavy Metal Booth. But he also tried to get the live action show going with NT:TNM. He also had the Words and Pictures Museum.

You just have to keep in mind that both are artists, and both have different styles. It's the combination of the two that created the TMNT. But it's the seperation that allow the TMNT to evolve. At least that's how I try to look at it :)

As to the other thread linked above, Kevin didn't do NT:TNM for the money, he did it to "TRY" something with the turtles. Which at the time was MORE than anyone could have asked. FOX required the presence of the female turtle, not kevin, but Kevin did have fun designing and watching the show mature. Laird didn't want the show to go at all because of the one simple addition of a female turtle.

Laird wants to keep TMNT to their original form. Kevin wanted to try new things. Laird is playing it safe, while Kevin was willing to take risks.

The way it all happened I almost think that Laird and Eastman had made a pact that if the show failed (which it actually didn't, it DID have the highest ratings until Fox pulled the plug) that Kevin would back off and sell his rights to Laird.

I also don't agree with the post that "all" the fans didn't like the show. While there were things I didn't particularly like, I did like the show overall.

We won't know for sure what happened unless either Eastman or Laird tell us, and we won't know what's going on in Eastman's mind unless he tells us.

That is not right... Venus is not by far the reason why next mutation is bad. Just one of the many.

They haven't been able to do a good live action TMNT after the first movie, but it seems that the Hallmark miniseries will be what we have been waiting for so long.

The Laird Cop in Things Change seem to know more than Rookie Eastman.

About ten or twenty more, I reckon.

*starts trying to think up the stupidest possible 'which is better' topic*

And I'm starting to wonder how many "Eastman and Laird" threads there will be. It's like we're going to have to add the whole "Why Eastman is in CA working on Heavymetal" story to the FAQ list next! :P

Actually, I'd say that sounds like a good idea.

which one of them had the idea for the original toon? Or was it not their choice?

I think their new licensing agent[Too lazy to check the name] Sold the license to playmates, who produced the 5 episode miniseries and toys.
