I want him to have a plastic mask held in place by a string, and a plastic smock tied around his neck that says "THE SHREDDER" on it, in block letters, and has a picture of The Shredder standing under it, arms raised in triumph. Plus sweatpants and black Nikes.

JUST DO IT!!!

With TWO hand blades. The first movie sold the idea of having one but two is just that much cooler. How can Saki "shred" with a fist?!

I would definitely prefer a leaner, more ninja-like Shredder, this time. Sure, he can be a big, strong warrior, but the whole suit of armor thing doesn't really work for me.
The look he had from the first tmnt movie, was the best he has ever looked.

Over time, the old movie suit has lost some of it's coolness to me.

I feel it's the oversized face mask, it looks like Saki needs to hide a double-chin under there when in fact it was a little Japanese dude. The shoulder armor is too small and justs sits there, and the hand blade should have had more than just a strap to hold on to. There is no possible way Saki could feasibly use the blades without injuring himself because the strap and blades has no other support.

It disappoints me some, because I LOVED Shredder's suit in the first movie.

Given how much that I absolutely HATE the Shredder, I really don't care WHAT he looks like in the new series, BEYOND the fact that, yes, he SHOULD be human, rather than an Utrom, and that I DO hope that he looks FAIRLY decent, in regards to appearance. Other than THAT, like I said, I could care less.

Sorry, but I can't STAND the guy, and I hope that Nick uses him SPARINGLY, like 4kids did in the 2K3 series. The OT overdid it, in regards to having him in every single ep of THAT one, IMHO. Less is more, NO?

Honestly, I love the cape. I know it's a sellout look or whatever, but I always felt it suited him.
If he looks like he would've in the 2001 WB cgi show, I'll be pretty happy. Though, I take silver over gold regarding the armor.

Urgh. Please, no cape. That's the one thing that I didn't like about the OT Shredder. He had an over-blown ego to start with, and with a cape, that just enforced his delusions of granduer.

Powder

Good points. The helmet would have been better off if it was a little smaller, and the shoulder blades could use a little refinement, but the point came across well for me. But perhaps it didn't match up to how great Shredder looked in the old mirage issues, such as #10.

Well, Super Shredder is plenty intimidating (if you saw him in a dark alley, you'd poo yerself) but he's a little "too much".

I'd love a tall, lean & muscular 80's toon shredder kinda look. Maybe a little less armor, though.

I actually have pretty good faith in them to design a badass Shredder. Personally my biggest hope in terms of the Foot is that if they decide to use Karai, they make her more like her original Mirage version and stay away from the way she was characterized through most of the 4Kids series.

Karai was one of the only 4Kids characters I just couldn't stand.

Movie 1 Shredder is my favorite incarnation of him, TBH.

Maybe they should follow the thread that Shredder is a legacy name many characters will don after he's removed. I DID like the Lady Shredder angle from Image... just stay away from 4Kids interpretation of it (srsly Karai is horrible in that).

And considering that this is pretty much the premier Turtles board on the internet and it seems like most people here consider the Mirage comics to be the canon for the story. Also a lot of people watching the new cartoon might be from the 4Kids era now and they also don't think Shredder is the main villain.

I dont agree with you, simply bc in the OT Shredder turned the turtles and splinter into Mutants and they were always trying to turn splinter back into a human. In 2k3 they were trying to avenge the death of Hamato Yoshi. So he is the main illian imo, but is was deffinately the most well known and the most seen in the OT and 2K3

I am sorry. I don't even like the fact they made Shredder an Utrom in the 4Kids cartoon, but I am getting so tired of seeing the 4Kids show dragged through the mud here. I guess I lost my temper a little and I should think a bit longer before I post my thoughts.

All I was trying to say is that it's alright for things to not have to be just like the original cartoon and it can still be good. Utrom Shredder was not a good idea I personally think mostly because it made the character too campy at that point and impossible to take seriously.

I did personally like the idea of the Mystic Shredder, because at least then the character was taken seriously and still seemed threatening. It was nice to see them try to do something different.

I wouldn't call him pointless. He was a ruthless war lord that ruled Japan. He started the mythos of the Shredder and made the name legend. Hence why Ch'rell choose to use it when he came to Earth.

He also was one of the most powerful fighters in Japan along with the rest of the Five Dragons which is why they were chosen to fight against the demon.

I liked all of this because it was so different. You can say you don't like the character, I wasn't overly fond of Ch'rell once it was revealed he was an Utrom for reasons I already said, but he wasn't pointless either. Just not taken as seriously as I wanted.

I can understand. I personally would have preferred Shredder to be human and for Ch'rell not to exist and for Karai to be more like her Mirage name sake and less of a whiny brat like she as characterized for a large portion of show.

Unfortunately it is, what it is. At least over all the show was enjoyable and as good of a representation of the Mirage comics I think one could get out a Saturday morning show aimed at kids.

This had me laughing out loud :D Don't know why, lol.

'You speak my name, but you do NOT know me... I am Ch'rell, Oroku Saki, Duke Acureds... the ONE, TRUE SHREDDER! I am a destroyer of worlds... and I FEAR NO-ONE!'

I love Ch'rell.

I don't think people will be pleased with Ch'rell in the new series, even though he is the 'the ONE, TRUE SHREDDER!' Omg, I'll get so much hate for this xD
So I guess we'll have to do with a 'fool so weary of life, that they take the name of the Shredder, Ch'rell's name, in vain.'

:)

EDIT: absolutely no offense to previous Shredders. Just quoting Ch'rell here. I still like human-Shredder's, they're not foolish. Maybe OT-Shredder was a little bit, but he could still fight. I still want him to be serious in the new series and to not have a married-couple relationship with Krang.

Ch'rell is something from the '03 cartoon, I know. This is just something completely new :)

the Mirage comic he was a minor character

Hmm, dunno if I would call him a 'minor' character. Although he is killed off in the first issue, he 'returns' to pretty much tear the turtles' and April's world apart in the Leo one shot/issue 10. Return To New York has a fair bit of Shredder action in it. City At War is about filling the void that the Shredder left (to simplify things). Several Tales issues have either the Shredder or the legacy of the Shredder featured (Shredder/Shark thingie, female Shredder, etc). Also, vol 4 (Leo making a Shredder snowman, the Battle Nexus Shredder, etc). In volume 2, I believe that Leo has an inner monologue about what his point is, when not battling Shredder/Foot. So although he does not appear in many comics, I don't think he could be classed as a 'minor character'.

Oh, I think the Shredder should be revealed to be Future-Raph in the Nick toon. Now, that would blow minds!

I sorta kinda liked his outfit for the OT series. ^^ I felt that his outfit for the first movie was completely off. I felt that way as a kid, and still feel that way now. It would've worked if it hadn't have been too big for him.

Personality wise, I know of the whole Utrom Shredder thing for the 2k3 series, and I personally wouldn't want to see that. I like him as a human with flaws. Maybe a combination of the previous Shredder incarnations, but still fresh and new. I liked OT Shredder since, imo, he had the potential to do lethally bad and illegal things (but given the show's target audience, he just couldn't). Seriously, he ran a ninja clan! You know he's killed people and we know if he could have, he would have killed Krang after getting what he wanted out of him.

So, anywho, I want him to be ambitious (like OT), threatening (mentally) to the Turtles (like in the Mirage comics), menacing in general, and not wuss out on harming/killing anyone or even just imply it. I don't want him running away from fights all the time, either (like in the OT series). Seriously, there were so many times in the original series where he actually could've had the upper hand and took those turtles out! But...personality wise, like I meant to say, I'd want him to have most of the character he had from the first live-action film. Totally "badass"...just as long as the outfit fits. :P:lol:

Edit: Forgot this biggie. I want him to be more NINJA like!!!

I don't care whether they make him human or Utrom. All I care about is that he's actually menacing and fights the Turtles instead of having others do his dirty work.

Mirage Shredder is all we need. *looks at sig* 'Nuff said.

I'm just hoping he'll last at least half way through the first season or at least have a comeback in the later episodes as a cyborg or something.

Cyber Shredder would be cool at some point. Not like Cyber Shredder from 2k3, though. More like something expanding on the idea of Cyber Shredder from the video games.

Also, a Super Shredder would be cool, too. Not as a "I'm a hulking mass of raging stupid" kind of Super Shredder that gets taken down by a pile of wood, though.

Cyber-Shredder is an awesome concept from the games, that needs to be expanded on! It'd be perfect for a new tmnt cartoon, seeing as it could be a fresh way to tell a story like "Return to New York", in animated form.

Big fat no to Raph Shredder. Always thought that was dumb...

However, I think you nailed it with the Mirage Shredder. Anyone who thinks he's a "secondary character" doesn't understand the Mirage comics. Shredder is the main villain in the Mirage comics. He's dead, yes, but everything he is/was completely affects the Turtles world. Killing Shredder didn't make him any less signifigant. He haunts them beyond the grave in ways they could have never imagined.

The Shredder I want to see would be intimidating, a force to be reckoned with. I would like to see him in an almost Emperor Palpatine role. I want it to be when he decides to step in and get his hands dirty there are consequences. I want to see him win sometimes, show that even though the turtles are trying their hardest to stop him it doesn't always go their way.

Why cant SHREDDER look like all of the above? I mean first he fights the turtles with his comic/87 cartoon suit he beats them but says shoot these guys are dangerous then he has one more like samurai armor or the 2k2 cartoon. Shredder should not be limited to one look he can even be just oroku saki with one of the blades like in the 2k2 cartoon. These are just my opinions interested what you all think of this.

I just saw the design but was told that he wouldn't be comic relief.
He is the Shredder but unlike any on you've seen before.

I don't know if that's really a good thing. He was a crazy genocidal maniac in 2K3 who was arguable the most dangerous Shredder of any incarnation. Turtles Forever addressed that pretty well. In the comics he was a crime lord/semi-immortal bad ass who had a problem keeping his limbs attached. In Next Mutation he was a crazy hobo. He's been a scientist/comic relief character, an alien, a mutant shark, a tengu demon, and a computer virus.

I guess the question is what is it they think they're gonna do to make him different then any Shredder we've ever seen before? He can't get anymore bad ass, insane, genocidal, crazy, or powerful.

If we're talking pure looks though slapping a Freddy Kruger inspired glove on his hand better not be all they did. I'm hoping for a bad ass helmet design and they better ditch the purple unless it's a very dark purple.

I agree about the Shredder. He's like the turtle's Lex Luthor, Joker, Magneto, and even Green Goblin to their everyday lives. Why on Earth would anyone want to put him aside? Plus, I picture him like a Highlander: immortal.

I will say this. Raphael having a vision that he takes the Shredder's place would be cool. But of course, I'm not really into that either.

I'm sorry. I'm not feeling it. It's not as terrifying as Megabyte's theme from Reboot. If you want to listen to that, maybe you should find a clip of Megabyte in his tower, then you'll hear his theme. Or at least give him the T-1000 theme.

I'm agree with Spitfire,2k3 shredder most dangeours one and my favorite but there is a problem; if shredder utrom or super human turtles can't stand a chance. They never really beat Ch'rell or Demon one. Utrom's save them in exodus. Demon Shredder battle more pathetic. Even with new weapons and powers turstles can't beat him. Yoshi's spirit beat demon Shredder. I want human Shredder like Ch'rell's Oroku saki form,no utrom or super human something but not an idiot either.I guess movile like Shredder but better depper personality is best choice. I like 2k3 armor and it's best in my opinion but red eyes stupid and actually it's a samurai armor. Shredder is ninja not a samurai even I like the armor not want to see this show. It's crime lord and this not past japan. I want to see him tuxedo or that white unmasked ninja uniform in 2k3. If there is a armor it should be entirely new and original or at least isn't samurai armor.

I think all 3 of those characters were done really poorly in that movie. The 2nd movie jumped the shark in my opinion. The only "real" TMNT movie I recognize and watch is the 1st. That said, the 07 movie wasn't as bad as some make it out to be, IMHO. I give more leeway to non-realistic elements due to it being animated (which generally lends itself to not having to seem as grounded as live action movies).

I think the Shredder should look like his Archie Comics incarnation, an exaggeration of the OT Shredder....but not really.

Although I don't know who here will agree with me but it would be sort of neat to see a CG animated Shredder in the vein of the "Turtles in Time Re-shelled" in game version. I took one look at him and thought he was pretty badass...even though he is also an exaggeration of the OT Shredder but much cooler.

I pretty much love all the previous incarnations of Shredder (apart from Utrom Shredder) but am looking forward to a new take on him. In my opinion the character of Shred-head should be more mystical, like the Shredder from Soul's winter, and his helmet/mask should serve a purpose like a hideously scarred face (similar as to the first movie) But the most important thing is that he is menacing whilst never losing the fact that he is HUMAN.
