View Full Version : So does "The Kraang" prevent the "real" Krang from showing up?

From the info given, "The Kraang" are a collective similar to the Borg from Star Trek, or the Reapers from Mass Effect. They are treated as one entity where they all share thoughts assumingly.
If that's the case, I assume there will be no, "The" Krang in the show. The only way I can see it happening is if later on they find out there is an overall leader of "The Kraang" and then "THE" Krang shows up.
Since the Kraang will probably be similar to the Utroms only evil, it kind of disappoints me if we won't have the evil brain from Dimension X in this show. Maybe they can introduce him as the leader later on?

Krang's one of those elements of the OT that really added to the overall charm of that show, but it didn't really make him a major staple in TMNT lore.
So yeah, I dig the shout-out but I see no need for a contemporary Krang in this new show.

Yeah, it basically sounds like The Kraang are just evil Utroms with longer tentacles.
Makes me wonder if the Utroms themselves will be introduced later on too, as a "good" parallel to the Krang. If that happens I can see the whole Fugitoid and Triceraton arc being thrown in.
I kind of hope we do see Krang though, as the "leader" later on in some form.

This is, for better or worse, Krang in this show. Get used to it!

I'm actually beginning to realize the Nick show doesn't seem to be using any Fred Wolf elements at all. As far as we know:
- There is no Technodrome
- There is no "the" Krang, the warlord from Dimension X
- No confirmation of Bebop/Rocksteady
- Baxter is confirmed black, and he seems similar to Mirage/4kids Baxter
About the only old toon element they kept is Splinter actually is Hamato Yoshi again.

Good. This is all glorious.

Well they are using toon colors (not only for the turtles but Shredder as well), & personalities (to an extent, from what I can gather).

Well there's never been any indication Bebop/Rocksteady will show up either, but I see no reason for them to *not* use them. Its not like PL is holding them back like with 4kids.
Using popular well-known characters generally makes sense.

According to this interview, Leatherhead and Metalhead are confirmed:
http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/38257/sdcc2011-toonzone-interviews-the-new-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-creative-team
Leatherhead was expected, but Metalhead? I would have thought they'd do their own robot Turtle, like the 4kids series did with the Evil Turtlebot.

Well I hope to see some familiar old characters, even if of course they'll be their own unique takes on them. New villains are fine too.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Old Hob winds up making a cartoon debut later on.

That's so sick, I've always been a huge fan of Metalhead. Of course I like Leatherhead too but MH is a surprise!
I just heard that The Kraang has threatened to kill Krang's poodle if he even shows up to the set. :blanksta: That's pretty messed up.

The fact that they are calling The Kraang The Kraang is a good enough reference to the OT Krang for me. He was an awesome character from that show, but maybe some things should just stay exclusive to a certain interpretation or else it loses it's charm.

That was the best part of the series! Esepcially when Harry potter and He-Man showed up and defeated the evil forces of Cobra so the fellowship of the Turtles could continue with their mission.

I dont think the Kraaang prevent the real krang to show up. If they want to use Krang then they can use him as the Kraaang leader. that will work for the new series.

I love this. So awesome to use that reference. It would be even more awesome if the show revealed later on that they had something like the red eye syndrome that made the Kraangs evil and really they are a peaceful race.
This thread depresses me, I think Krang has little to no chance of ever showing up because of "The kraang". To me the people working on the show already see that as enough of a tribute and probably won't give him a real appearance, heck "The Kraang" also make me question of we'll actually see Utroms in the new show. I do think there is a small chance though and at the very least they'll throw fans a bone similar to when 2k3 April wore the yellow jumpsuit and we saw Gen as rocksteady and a beebop lookalike in Fast Forward.
There's never been any reason to expect Fred Wolf Krang to show up in this series.
TMNT is part of pop culture because of the OT and the reason why Viacom bought the franchise. Its perfectly reasonable to think they'll try to aim for what caused the original turtle craze in the first place.

If the IDW series uses Krang I don't see why Nick shouldn't.
He can show up as the "leader" of the Kraang....which essentially shows us Krang's species.

I don't know if Krang will show up, and I really don't care whether he does. The name itself is just an homage. If they don't want to use Krang as the leader, they don't have to. It's their choice.
If the IDW series uses Krang I don't see why Nick shouldn't. You know all these different Krangs are going to confuse the hell out of people. First we have the old school Krang who was an evil brain that looked like an Utrom, than we have IDW's Krang who appears to be a human General, now we have Nicks Kraang a evil, hive-mind version of the Utroms.

You do realize IDW's Krang is probably still an alien brain in a robot body? Its no different than Ch'rell masquerading as a human in the 4kids cartoon.

that not sure yet. He may still be a human. Shredder was human in 1987 series and alien in 2003 series. Krang was alien in 1987 series so in this series there is a high possibility that he will be human.

We assume Krang isn't what he seems. He's only been shown as a hand with a black glove, and a greyish arm.
Here he is:

This is a new continuity with new characters. If you want the "real" Krang, go watch the FW series or read the Archie comics. This is a new Krang for a new series (both in TV and in comics.)

I rewatched "Invasion of the Krangezoids" recently, and it amused me how Krang was bossing around all the Krang clones.
I hope that maybe they can introduce Krang later on as the "leader" of these Kraang that work for Shredder.

Maybe I'm wrong for thinking this but I don't want to see the same thing over and over. If I'm in the mood for one version that is what I read/watch. I enjoy that each version is so different but at the same time keeps true to the characters. I really don't want the Nick version of Krang to be a little alien brain that was taken out of his body and exiled. This hive mind thing sounds kind of cool.

Now that the show has come out, I honestly think "Krang" will show up sometime later on, as one of the leaders of "The Kraang."
My guess is Krang is still in Dimension X at the moment which is why we don't see him yet. He'll of course talk normally unlike the Kraang.
God I hope I am right and Krang shows up.

I don't think it's so much as 'prevent the real Krang from being in the show' so much as they just didn't wanna use him. Although the Kraang are basically just evil Utroms... and it sounds so weird having evil Utroms running around calling themselves the Kraang. Sure, Krang was based on the Utroms but he was still a talking brain with his own name. He wasn't called Utrom-o or whatever.
Kinda weird now that you think about it. The Utroms were good, but we got a characters based on them being evil named Krang. Now in this show we have evil Utroms calling themselves The Kraang. I guess Utroms are just cooler when they're evil.

Maybe we'll get Ch'rell instead of Krang?

That brings up a good point. Does the new show lend itself to having an appearance by the Utroms? The 2k3 design is a bit different than the Kraang design. So it is possible to have two similar alien races in the show.

It could actually work if the Utroms are shown as a counter to the Kraang...or if the Kraang themselves are mutated Utroms.
I've thought about the possibility of the Utroms showing up myself as the, "good guys," and the Turtles mistaking them for Kraang and attacking them.

I literally laughed out loud at this
The only possible outcome I see is this is general krang's "Army". see what I did there? I borrowed from another universe, one parallel rather than over two decades old. This still opens up even more possibilities. To speculate where they're taking this story only three episodes in leaves far too many options to even list

To be fair, they could probably bring in a different faction of the Kraang, possibly called Utroms, who are good guys. I would not be adverse to that, but then again, we're 3 episodes in. Who knows where they're going with this.

I could see a Romulan/Vulcan explanation working for thew Kraang/Utroms...but it seems unnecessary.
