May's Official Technodrome Artjitsu!!!

Welcome to this month's Artjitsu.

The idea is you take a photo/theme/question or whatever and RUN WITH IT. That's right. Using the topic below as your inspiration, create a work of art. Look at it as a learning experience, and do a careful study, or look at it as a fun way to express and show your individualism and go crazy with it. Stay as close to, or stray as far from the topic as you wish. Do a sketch, do it inked, do it colored, do it painted, do whatever.

A quick explanation of how Artjitsu will work:

Our drawoff will be monthly. New topics will go up every month, and you have a month to complete a piece.

And... that's it. I know that there have been a post with many fan renditions of other TD members, so... Here is this month's topic:
Draw a picture of a fellow TD member... that hasn't been posted before ;-)

M' kay then. First, I'll tell ya that it's gonna be based offa my Avatar Character, 'Blades'. Don't worry, you won't have to work with that eeny-weenie pic, another one is here (not a great picture, but it'll give you the idea):

Anyway, Blades is an latin 19 year old girl whom lives on the streets of New York, has since she was 16. She has short jet black hair and dark blue eyes from her mother's side. The outfit's basically the one in the pictures, but not as scrappy/ripped as they are in it, and the stuff is slightly baggier.

Her alias is because of her trademarks, not only for the rollerblades she's always sporting, but the pocketknife she uses as a weapon if she gets into a rough position, which is in her black fanny-pack.

She's notorious for being one of the best pickpockets in the city, and she's never been caught. This is actually how she first encounters the turtles, as she steals Mikey's cash on his way to pick up a pizza!! The two go off on a wild chase, only for Michaelangelo to lose her somewhere.

To make a long story short, eventually she meets the guys personally, but still doesn't trust 'em totally due to her family past (I won't get into that right now, but if ya want the info, just ask).

She's got a really tough personality, but she doesn't lose her temper all that much. Above everything, she tends to mistake the TMNT's help and friendship as pity, and she does NOT like to be pitied.

My favorite thing I made up about her is the fact that she calls Rapheal 'Cherry' all the time, which drives him nuts. :D

I think that's more than enough info for you. I do have one request for the picture, though: Could you make it look like she's actually been on the streets, slightly dirty and grungy and stuff? I always find it a little odd where the people that are homeless seem perfectly clean and shaven and stuff.

Actually the hookblade isn't shown in that picture I made. The weapon he's using is similar to the one that Daredevil used from the Spider-Man mangaverse series.

Heh.. cool! Spent all day tweaking it while babysitting a booth at a comic con last weekend. I was worried I missed something on Jin's attire, cause all I took note of was the weapon, the fact he liked nature, and the black skull cap (which I realize now is a face mask). Glad you like! :D

Yeah, it's Raphael that I usually draw with the skull cap. I dunno, everytime I look back at that picture of Jin I drew, his outfit really resembles that of the foot ninja, oh well... to each their own.

Well, I decided to take a crack at a couple of other people as well. After all, I couldn't just sit out this artjitsu completely. So I dragged two unsuspecting souls, kicking and screaming, into my comic strips. Heh, hope you two don't mind being guest stars. And remember, it's copy and paste with geocities ( :dead: ).

I tried an action pose, I really did, but settled on an attitude one instead. She's supposed to be on a park bench, but we all know how I am with backgrounds and props...

I tried to accomplish this with the overall style of the picture. Instead of clean inking (*snort* Like I'm capable of that.) and color, I went for a mixture of color and pencil shading. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping it works on some level of art.

Argh!! I missed the deadline for this. I was originally gonna do a few comic strips in paint featuring some of our beloved rabid fangirls. :razz: Maybe I'll finish it up when I get the chance. Loved everyone's drawings. HT's drawing of Jin is pretty sweet, and Kali's Blades pic has that nice street feel to it. And of course, Kame's comic strips are funny as always. :anime:

I wound up doing 2 things of ya on the page, your demon-like form up top is in my more usual style, but I decided to try the new cartoon style for the full body one of you. The inking kinda sucks though...cheap waxy pencil crayons and ink don't work too well together. :ohwell:
