:teek:Oh MY GOD!!!!:teek: This show looks AWESOME!!!!:tgrin: Yes! We finally get to hear their voices! Plus, I'm loving the animation! I am totally looking forward to this!

Yet, I'm not surprised of what I read on the bottom. Gees. I know there will be people who hate it, but does that mean the show will be in trouble? I must ask: for the Green Lantern trailer, did people say the animation looked terrible before the show aired?:tconfuse:

I'm wondering if the action sequences (stars... with colored background) are actually animated like that in the show or just the trailer. I could see that getting annoying.

I really like how they incorporate the different animation techniques into the trailer. I'd like to see that in the show as well. It's something that I've never seen before, at least that I can recall. It does have that Teen Titans feel to it. Gotta say that I really dig what I'm seeing.

The boyashaka thing is growing on me, but I still expect to hear the turtles say cowabunga in the second season, as for the animation, I LOVE IT!!!! I hope they drop that catchphrase.:trazz: Michelangelo,"the wild one"? That makes me wonder if he will be made an idiot like in the 2003 cartoon. Spread the humor especially on Raphael.

The animation looks good and aside from the silly tape the designs all around are well done.

I seriously just started tearing up while watching that. It...looks...AWESOME!!!!! Love the voices, love the animation, although a few aspects of it I'll have to get used to (and I will), love the theme song mix, love the comedic moments, everything.

'Hey, there's a pizza place down there.'

And I like when Mikey said 'That sounds weird when you say it' to Don when he said his catchphrase, then Raph said 'It sounds weird when YOU say it'.

if you keep on pausing the video when the turtles are mutating, you see that Donny already has a chipped tooth before he mutated.

I can now officaly announce i've just watched the trailer about 6 times and i enjoyed every moment of it!

Now I don't feel bad about tearing up. I did the same when I saw the trailer on tv for 'Halloween: Resurrection'. At the time, I didn't realize what crap I was going to see, but when I first saw it, I was so excited to see Myers back on the big screen.

I love all the voices so far.

I'm excited. It looked like a mixture of the 80's show and 2k3 from the trailer. I just think a lot of people look at the 80's show through rose colored glasses. Anyway can't wait to actually see a whole episode.

I love how people on here are like 'Oh man, it's just too kiddish'. We're adults. The cartoon isn't made for us. It's MADE for KIDS!!!! It's on Nickelodeon. It's geared towards pre-teens (more specifically younger kids). I mean, come on!!

I, for one, am loving it. I can't wait for more video. This one is just great.

Yep. I think a lot of people will like this. Looks like they're putting a lot of effort into it.

My only concern is how long they can keep big names like Sean Astin and Jason Biggs on the show. I don't want a debacle that was the voice changes of the OT. Still makes me cringe.

I accepted 2K3 which was just a "kids series". I don't accept this. Has nothing to do with being a "brick head" it has to do with quality. How could anyone seriously argue that's well animated? It looks like a low budget cut scene from an Xbox Live Arcade game.

The quality is fine. Some people are just overly critical. There wasn't a watermark when I watched it. Since we have this now, I wonder if we'll get more at ComiCon?

Lord. We finally get a video, after all this time, and the dumb-ass arguments start. Can you really say that the OT's animation was great?

Either way, I know that people are going to love this show, and people are going to hate it. I don't think there's going to be an inbetween. I, for one, can't stand the 4Kids cartoon.

No the OTs animation wasn't great, who said it was? 2K3 however had great animation. CG animation on TV always looks like crap. Hardly a dumb ass argument. I could list some other things about it I dislike too but I'm sure you'd perceive my opinion as wrong some how because you can't see past "Oh new shiny turtles thing!" It's like when BTTS came out everyone talked about how the show had gone back to formula and it was gonna be "dark again" and blah blah. It turned out to be lamer then FF ever was.

If you want to sit here and eat whatever garbage you're spoon fed then that's fine. I'm not going to stop being critical just because something I love has a new movie, series, comic, whatever. I don't cream my pants everytime something new comes out from a franchise I follow. It's gotta prove itself. This series still has a chance to change my mind but as of right now to me it looks horrid.

Though a little difficult to really judge the animation based from how fast the clips went, it already looks better than PoM and KFP:LoA.

The voices sound pretty great, too.

I'm glad for the mostly gracious support you have provided, and this looks to be a big turnaround that should finally start to get people turtling out all over again! And It looks like we'll be seeing pizza much more than perhaps video games this time!

Sounds like the new exec. producer knows what he's doing!

Remember, the audience doesn't understand much of a sense of history of animation; when I was watching the OT when it aired, I thought that it was just the animators choice, and all that mattered was a good, fun story.

Spitfire, I appreciate your opinion and really enjoy reading what you and others think. Some may like the show, others may not. I myself like what I see. Fans like you, who don't like what they are seeing, I believe help keep the community engaged in what I think are good discussions about what works and what doesn't. Some conversations turn ugly, but for the most part I really enjoy reading what some may or may not like about the property. Keep voicing that opinion!

I am definitely liking what I'm seeing, but I won't give a full judgment until the first episode has aired. Does anyone know if a date has been confirmed? I like the animation, it looks good and I'm sure it'll work. The voice cast sounds great as well, never could've guessed it was Sean Astin as Raph. However, I'm slightly worried the show will be a bit too kiddish. I hope they don't ruin the show and the characters with this. Guess we'll find out eventually!

Well, I guess it is time for me to awaken from my slumber.

The overall vibe I got from it was "Kung Fu Panda" which isn't a bad thing at all. Hearing Paulsen voice Don is a bit off putting, but there's a lot of potential here.

I just hope they over-kiddified it for the first promo to hook the children, while secretly producing a more mature show in line with Legend of Korra.

Yeah, just because I like it means I'm just liking what's being 'spoonfed' to me. I like what's being shown, how is that different from you NOT liking what you're being shown? Anyway, you can keep trying to convince us it's not up to tv's standards.

I guess I'm just an idiot for liking something. If I want to sound smart, I must say I don't like it. You know, show people I'm not with the majority.

Actually I wasn't trying to say that at all. People like to give each other crap for their opinions around here and that was me taking my turn at it. No one is a moron for liking this, nor are they for disliking it. I merely said my line about spoon feeding crap not in reference to this but anytime something comes out people get way too excited and then are let down that much harder when it turns out to be...well crap. And crap comes in many forms. Like what happened with the NECA line or the Playmates comic line, or in my opinion BTTS.

I've learned to never over excite myself, and sadly it's made me overly critical. Like I said this show has a chance to blow my socks off, damn it I hope it does, but right now that trailer didn't make me want to do an Irish jig. It has nothing to prove to me. If kids like it and Nick makes money then all the power to them for it. What an old fan thinks doesn't really matter.

Just scoped this. It looks fun. The turtle illustrations in the beginning are stellar. I like how the turtles are animated. Raph's voice is kind of ****, but I guess thats what you get when you cast a ****ing Goonie who isn't Corey Feldman.

Looks neat. I'm sure kids will really like it, which is what's important, right?

Haven't read the entire thread, so I'm not sure if I'm in the minority or not (and I hope I'm not), but that...was...AWESOME! Yeah, it's very kidish, but you know what? I enjoy that. The show I grew up and loved was rather "kidish" too, so this works for me.

My worries about the voices are now completely gone. Just going off of the trailer, I'm loving Mikey's voice the most. I have to admit, he's pronouncing booyakasha differently than I thought it was pronounced. Though this way actually makes it sound a bit cooler.

I love the bits of comic book action thrown in there. I was a little worried when I first heard about that element of the show, but I definitely like how it's been executed.

What I'm taking to be the theme song, or at least a part of it, sounds really good. It's kind of hard to hear, but I'm confident that the voices repeatedly saying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles say heroes in a half-shell there towards the end...Anybody else hear it?

I am so pumped for this show. Love the animation, loved the voices except Donnie - I don't think I like Rob P as him but I have to give it more time and hear more from it.

Also loved the Beatles name drop - he knows what he's doing! :D

Mikey sounds the best, all bias aside.

I like it. Looks like it'll be a tad wackier than the 4Kids cartoon, which is great as that show took itself far too seriously sometimes. Having fun with an already wacky concept is all I ask for from TMNT.

Mikey gets the most screentime and proper display of character in the trailer. Would have liked to have seen more of Splinter besides the comic book-esque origin, but I like that he was kicking MIB ass in Yoshi form

Honestly...I'm not hearing any major difference between the two examples. There is a little, but I think that has more to do with the one scene he's been fighting the foot, and is trying to sound tough, while the other is him talking normally. I'm actually really liking Sean's Raph voice, and he was the one I was worried the most about.

Anybody else kinda surprised that Leo really doesn't sound anything like Jason? I actually think that's a good thing, as I didn't want him to use his normal voice for the role. Also, it reminds me of something, but I'm not quite sure what.

Edit: I've been listening to the background music, and I can now hear them say turtle power. Definitely sound like the new show's theme is a revamp of the '87 theme :tparty:

I like it mostly, but some problems:

- What was with that awkward scene of the Foot appearing on the roof as the Turtles were running? Almost looked liked copy/paste animation.

- The fighting scenes were crap. PLEASE don't let the fight scenes being boring still screens with the Foot flying in the air.

- The running sequences look off. Like when Mike is running from the missiles.

As for the TMNT, I think it'll turn out OK. The animation looks great and the voices seem appropriate for the characters. Although I agree that it is a bit weird hearing Rob doing Donatello's voice. My only concern is that the entire show isn't a wacky funhouse 24/7 and that there are some intense, dramatic moments like the 2K3 series.

I liked the trailer! I was entertained for the whole minute plus that it was. I mean, I'll have to wait to see a full episode before I can give a real honest assesment on the show itself, but the trailer seemed cool! I dug the voices, the updated version of the OT theme was cool, and Shredder looked great! Overall, pretty excited about the show!

The first trailer for Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is now out and there are a few things that stand out.

The new cartoon is geared towards younger kids. I am not against that decision; it will be great to get a new crop of Turtles fans. At the same time, it is too bad because that will probably be the reason why I will not be watching. I did enjoy the 4Kids 2003 incarnation for a few seasons because it was a more violent as a cartoon and was heavily inspired by the Mirage comic book stories. I think that iteration was more suited to old and new fans alike. Kevin Eastman has stated that while April O’Neil does not appear in the first trailer, she is in the new series and will be 16 years old; definitely geared towards children.

I did like some of the animation at the beginning of the trailer; it looked like a comic book coming to life. The rest of the trailer does not have the same stylization, which leads me to believe the comic book effect is just for the opening sequence. The Turtles look alright. I do not like seeing their pupils; I prefer the white eyes like in the comics and the 4Kids series, but it gives them a kinder feel ideal for children.

And finally, the new catchphrase: “Booyakasha!” Nickelodeon does need to differentiate themselves with this version and “Cowabunga!” is a bit dated but the nostalgia factor of “Cowabunga!” would have been the easier way to go. If Casey Jones is part of this cartoon, I hope they do not change his “Goongala!”

All in all, anytime the Turtles get some attention it is a good thing. It’s a great time to be a Turtles fan, we have the IDW comics which are getting better with each issue, we have the Nickelodeon cartoon due out this September, and we have a movie in the works that is generating so much buzz.

And WHEN did that article say that this promo-trailer would start airing on Nick again? I want to know so I can start DVR-recording it.

Seems like there's more negativity towards this new show than there was towards the 2003 show, which I can understand. That one seemed more geared towards adults. I usually go against the grain and have to say I'm looking forward to this far more. I love goofy TV, especially the old cartoon, and it's not just nostalgia. Not everyone is into super serious serial cartoons, though they certainly have their place. It'd be great to one day get a TMNT anime with the animation quality and violence of that Black Dynamite cartoon that was posted in this thread, and the seriousness and storytelling of the original comics. Saw the trailer. Looks pretty damn good to me. Only worrying thing is that it kind of looks like Michaelangelo is taking inspiration from his 2k3 and TMNT counterparts. But, I don't have much to judge the show on, so who knows, that could change.

Just saw this, and man, was I excited to FINALLY get to see something for this. Before I comment though, I wanted to ask a question - I didn't notice it anywhere, so I take it that even with this trailer, we still don't have an airing date for the premiere, right?

Okay. The trailer. *takes a deep breath* Well...I'm mixed. I liked a lot of it but there are other parts I'm not so fond of. The humor seemed to be solid enough from what we got to see (though nothing that had me literally laughing out loud though, just a smirking thing). The action though...I hope it doesn't do the cut out to a starry background thing every time. Cuz that'll get old FAST. If it doesn't do that, I'll probably be okay with it though.

As for the voice over, I'm already really liking Cipes' Mikey. I knew he'd be a great Mikey though, just based on his other roles before. I didn't hear enough of what's-his-name's Leo to judge it. Paulsen's Don sounds good so far. Astin's Raph is the one I'm really not sure about. There's something there I honestly can't put my finger on...I dunno. It'll grow on me hopefully though.

The weakest point to me is definitely the animation. I'm already not that big of a fan of CG over regular animation as it is, and this didn't seem as strong as it could be. It's definitely not on the level of Kung Fu Panda or Penguins yet, both CG shows on Nick that look really good if you ask me. If they can get it to look like that by the time it's done, quality wise at least, then I'll be happy.

So yeah, new trailer is exciting regardless of a few misgivings I might have. Can't wait for the premiere!

It's not the pitch that bothers me, or I'd have said that's what it was. Believe me, I saw your crapload of comments on it Mr.Turtle, took that into mind as I listened to the audio...and it's really not even that high-pitched, at all. Heck, he had the deepest voice out of the four of them if you ask me (though it's not a deep voice per say).

I'm thinking it's just the depart from him having a Brooklyn accent that's messing with me.

Anyone else noticed they played theme song of the OT at the end? :p It seemed pretty goofy and childlike, not very serious. But that's just the work of the guys who made the trailer. They made Legend of Korra seem like a goofy cartoon too, and it wasn't at all. It made it seem like a whole different show, it didn't capture the vibe of the show at all, so don't judge this too quick ;)

Very good point, I am hoping they drop that catch phrase though, it is incredibly stupid, but then again I wonder how stupid Cowabunga sounded to mirage lovers when the OT came out????

Oh and I have to say Don sounds to much like OT Raph....I wish Robb could have changed the voice up a little more

About all I liked so far are the voices.
I'm going to give the show a chance before dismissing it but I really do not like the way the animation flows.
I can't believe I'm about to say this but Cybercubed is right it looks almost cut and past or like they are floating when they are running from the foot.

Then there is Shredder who is supposed to be a main villain and it sort of just is anticlimactic to have him be there tapping his foot like oh hi I've been standing here the entire time I'm the Shredder here's my card.

I dunno, that part actually gave me more of an old-school comic book vibe way more than it did an anime one. Or rather, adaptions of old comics...basically, a very Adam West Batman-ish 'BAM! WHACK! POW!' feel.

I remember them saying the Turtles will use real martial arts in this show and that the fight scenes will be good. Here's hoping that we get good fights in this show like the 4kids series.

True. I actually like Teen Titans more than most though (probably cuz I have no memory or fandom of the comics they got the idea from), so if they only do it occasionally...maybe...I dunno.

But yeah, I'm hoping they used some of the guys they use to choreograph Avatar and Korra for this. If they did, then we're probably in for a treat.

I just... Don't... Get you guys. "AMAZING?" "EPIC?" I mean, there is no part of me that does not love TMNT, but this trailer looked alright. There was nothing mind blowing to be had here, other than the fact that it featured the TMNT. The movement was a bit stiff and jerky; hell, even the 2001 pilot had more fluid movement. I'm not saying this was bad. But folks acting like this trailer looked incredible, I just don't understand.

And everyone saying "OF COURSE IT'S KIDDIE! IT'S NICKOLDEON" clearly has not been watching The Legend of Korra or the previous Avatar series.

Normally I'd agree, but I think "Home on the Range" or some other form of lazily-put 2D animation comes to mind, so I wouldn't put it as 'the animation that can do no wrong.'

My biggest worry is that Nick'll treat it like they do Kung Fu Panda. They're constantly scheduling the show and then not airing it. Case in point, they finally finished season 1 and started season 2 back in April. They aired one episode of season 2, then the following week when more episodes were scheduled, they had SpongeBob instead. Not a single episode of season 2 has aired since, and they just announced yesterday that they've begun work on season 3.

I really like the Trailer. The CGI looks good, the voiceacting (little we heard) sounded good, and the remixed 80s theme song sound great ^^
It's not EPIC or AWESOME as some may call it but it's fairly good and got me hooked for the Series.
I like the Style they choose which is more in the spirit of the 80s Toon instead of the dark and gritty Comics or the edgy 4Kids Series.
Really looking forward to the first episode :)

Watched the Trailer now a few times and discovered something really interessting:

I'm not really seeing all of the issues that some people have with the animation. I do see that the Turtles running down the alleyway looks weird, and something's off when Leo starts talking, but other than that, I think it looks good.

The animation looks odd when Mike is also doing a wall run off the water tower to avoid the missiles.

If the new show is to be rated and scored in terms of how faithful it is the Fred Wolf cartoon. But that's kind of a weird thing to do, really, isn't it? I thought the idea is to have it be its own thing.

Good point. Also, I was just thinking about this after I watched the trailer. In the intro, after we see Yoshi mutate, we see the turtles as infants. Could this mean that by the time the series begins and the turtles have grown up that the Kraang have already been capturing and mutating people for a couple of years?

Like the theme song, like the voices, like what little we got of the characters. Seems like it will be reasonably action-packed as well.

But, I'm not liking the animation. Not the actual character designs, mind you, which I think are all right. But the actual animation (and detail) looks lackluster in that trailer. I'll reserve judgement until I can see an HD or at least broadcast-quality version.

Now that I watched it on my home PC I like it even more! I definitely see the Kung Fu Panda comparison people have been making. But I like Kung Fu Panda so that's good with me.

I think it will be great to rope in a whole new generation of Turtles fans. Now that I've gotten into them again my five year old daughter has really taken a liking to them too and she LOVED the preview trailer today. I'm really looking forward to watching this with her and watching the Turtles grow in popularity with another generation!

Hopefully this show won't turn out like Ultimate Spider-Man did: all jokes and no continuous plot over episodes. I don't mind if they make jokes and act goofy, but I want a serious story that continues over multiple episodes.

I saw things from Ultimate Spider-man that made me throw up inside. This, however, made me giddy with glee. I'm excited.

Eh, haters gonna hate. The visuals have more style than I expected, and the animation is much more fluid and "expressive" (I know some people hate that word) than I anticipated.

Rob Paulsen only tweeked his voice a tiny bit for Donatello. I'll probably get used to it.

I don't think Rob tweeked his voice so much as he's just gotten older. It's ironic that they've cast somewhat older and more accomplished actors to voice much younger interpretations of the TMNT. Weren't many of the Fred Wolf cast members in their 20s when the the '87 show started?

Finally got online for the day and got to see this and frankly I loved it!

The new catch phrase is going to take me a little getting used to but over all I love the animation, the voices and the trailer actually made me laugh out loud.

Fall needs to be here pronto!

BTW since I haven't been around much do we have any idea about a start date for the series yet??

The first version of it I watched on youtube had horribly altered the video quality wise. I would highly recommend the below version (someone else posted it earlier in this thread). I never said I had a problem with people loving it...that's why I said that I respect people's opinion. What I meant was, I (for my personal self) don't see why people call it Epic. I guess it's just not for me, for my taste. That's WHY I said "To each their own".

It's not a knock against anyone who's looking forward to it. More power to them and I can't take that away from them.

But to ME, I see nothing in this that looks remotely intriguing or epic or fun. And yes I saw the HD version, and the character designs look awful to me. The designs and the animation of the characters simply look ugly, and the faces look just...not right to me. If you disagree? Cool, that's just my opinion. And yes, I can't describe it anymore than 'it looks extremely ugly' but that's how it is to me.

And to me it is a step back from the stuff they did in, say, the 2003 cartoon series...I know they can't copy it but...this just isn't for me. Obviously I'm the only one who feels that way as pretty much everyone else loved the trailer to the death. And that's fine, no worries.

I was excited and no problems! It took a bit of looking around but I found one that was in gd and didn't look like all the other low quality ones. The first I saw was from shayranzikomons or whatever his name is. I think mine is the same as the one from it's original source.

The character art style is blocky, but that's the art style, there is no current gen console that can look like the new show in game, let alone a console from the mid 90s.

Donatello sounds like OT Raph, should've casted a different person.

Watching it finally in HD, the show looks great, I mean it's different from what I wanted but I did love TT and look forward finding out more.

I'm not too worried about Rob Paulsen's Donatello voice. We only heard one full phrase and "Booyakasha". Hardly enough to truly judge, and I have never been let down by Uncle Rob's vocal performances before.

Honestly, I don't think either one is really any better than the other. The deep voice with the Brooklyn accent worked for '03 Raph, but I feel that Astin's fits this take on Raph. It's definitely more befitting of a fifteen year-old, imho.

Also, don't forget, it was said that from the beginning of the auditioning process that they were going in a different direction with this Raph's voice. Basically, if you're going to blame someone for this voice you so clearly don't like, blame the people who wanted this Raph to sound different, rather than Astin, who was just giving them what they wanted.

I will say that the CG animation looks just as good as Transformers: Prime.Like I said, I'll reserve my full judgement until we actually see some HD episodes, but that trailer didn't give me that impression at all, in terms of weight, lighting, detail or fluidity. That's the one thing I'm disappointed about so far. It's definitely not "PS1 quality," but if that's as good as the finished animation gets, my initial impressions are that they could do better.

That's...not what I was getting at...at all. To put it simple, the decision to make this Raph sound different than the '03 Raph, was made by the people who hired Astin. Sean himself did not make that decision.

Not to nitpick, but N64 didn't support full motion video.

Also, the quality of an FMV has nothing to do with the system hardware. It is just playing a movie file. The hardware doesn't generate anything in regard to the FMV. Those videos in FF8 were developed on hardware with many many many times the performance of the system. You can't just say "oh it looks like a ps1 FMV" because the quality of FMVs on any generation of console are all over the map. Keep in mind that both of these movies were created for the same system:

Having said that, while the textures in the new show are subtle and rely primarily on color depth over realism, I don't think you can compare them to FMVs of that era in way of framerate, resolution, poly count, or fluidity of animation.

And earlier claims of the new show being visually compatible to in-game PS1 graphics are simply delusional.

I'm liking that they did a remix of the OG theme.

I think the animation looks good. Pretty much on par with the Green Lantern animated series or Transformers Prime but below the standard of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It'll suffice and it certainly doesn't look bad.

At the beginning of Raph's "It sounds weird when you say it" he sounds like Scott Menville. The intonation is peculiar compared to the rest of the Raph lines. Astin sounds fine overall. Having read Nolan North auditioned for the part I'm rather disappointed he didn't get the role. He can sound like a teenager. Basically his Superboy voice would have been great for Raph.

Cipes sounds alright so far though I thought he'd sound a bit more surfer since he's speaking voice tends to. Seems like they intentionally avoided accents.

Hardly got to hear Biggs' Leo. Seems alright.

Gonna take a while to get used to Robatello, I'm not feeling the nerd yet.

Nothing about the trailer really bothered me or irked me. The turtles seem younger here than they are normally portrayed (very tweenish), but seeing as that's the primary target audience, it makes sense.

i don't like the guys being too young either but as long as the stories r good i can put up with it.

plus, look at the bright side, their body proposition is way better in the 3D animated version.

About the only thing that I thought was half-way decent was Raphael's voice and particularly his line at the end. Sounded somewhat similiar to Nolan North's Raphael in TMNT, which was not bad either.

Everyone else, forget it. Jason Biggs is about the worst Leo I've ever heard, Don doesn't sound right either, and Mikey's voice is more annoying than even 4Kids'.

The animation is terrible. I don't like the style with all the goofy stars and such and their character designs are still crap.

Wait, seriously? Mikey sounded great in the trailer, better than 4kids Mikey (And this is coming from a big fan of 4kids Mikey). It's also kinda unfair to call Biggs the worst voice for Leo when we just heard one line from him. Are we sure this is a remix rather than a remake? A remix uses some or all originally recorded elements from the original work while a remake is started from scratch to mimic the original work.

Just be careful to differentiate.
