View Full Version : Do you hope the show has normal human enemies and gangsters for the Turtles to fight?

One thing that concerns me about the Nick show is other than the usual Shredder/Karai/Baxter/Foot...all the other enemies seem to be aliens or monsters or mutants.

One thing I like about all previous TMNT incarnations is they eventually go up against human gangsters, human gang members, or just random criminals.

The OT featured tons of mob bosses, (Big Louie, Pinkie McFingers, Don Tortelli, Mad Dogg McMutt), and the 4kids series featured the mob in Season 1 and the City at War arc. The Mirage comics and IDW series also has the Turtles face gangs and mobsters.

I really hope the Turtles don't just fight against creatures and supernatural beings, I want to see gangsters and human thugs.

I could see the 2k12 turtles fighting some street thugs once in awhile. But I won't be too dissappointed if we don't see them fight any gangs on the show.

Pinkie McFingers? Mad Dogg McMutt? Pardon me if I don't recognize those names, I haven't seen all the episodes of the original series.

Most of the franchise's worst or uninteresting stories have featured that as the focus. Kids don't watch this show for regular joes.

I don't have a problem with the Turtles fighting gangsters or mafiosos if they're portrayed well.

But since those types of characters have been used effectively approximately 0 percent of the time in the Turtles' entire history (comics, movies and cartoons), and have even less of a chance of succeeding in a kids' show, I say "no."

There was a screenshot in some thread here of 3 or 4 thugs sporting some dragon-like tattoos which most have already assumed to be the Purple Dragons.

I don't. I could care less if the Turtles fight other humans, though I'm sure they will now that Karai has been confirmed. And we know they'll keep fighting the Foot and the PDs, who technically are part of a gang anyway. We don't really need mobsters this time around.

BubblyShell22

Yeah, but why should they have to this time around? Remember, this is a new show with new things. I think having the PDs and the Foot are enough. Plus, you have Karai, Shredder, and even Baxter to fight the Turtles. We don't need mobsters.

The mob really has no reason to get involved. Their fight is mostly against a street gang... and a ninja clan and alien robot army the rest of the real world knows nothing about. Unless the Turtles start fighting regular crime and take down some big time drug dealers or whatever, the mob has no real reason to even know the Turtles exist.

I hope we at least get Hun.

I'd rather have more non-humans so we are more likely to get toys of them, don't need a toy of random gangster guy.

So no no Gangsters, it's kind of played out as well.

chrisdude

The turtles fight plenty of humans. They just suck at fighting, and only take a hit or two to knock out.

That's why it sucks so bad to see Bradford and Xever mutated, because they were the only formidable human regulars. If the mutants used martial arts, I wouldn't be bothered so much. But it's less fun to watch a ninja fight a monster, in my opinion.

If it were up to me, the Foot ninjas would be a few formidable fighters (maybe even few enough to name), instead of an endless supply of worthless goobers. Like what if Shredder had his own band of four skilled pupils that were an even match for the turtles?

jestermon

But only if he made them dress like those 4 guys he dressed up as evil turtles in the fw cartoon.

So they could know their enemy by being there enemy ha.

No they don't, unless you consider the Foot Clan mobsters.

In mean in the series history:

Mirage: There have always been tons of human gangsters and criminals they've faced over the years. Many in Tales and the Image series especially.

Original toon: Big Louie, Pinky Mcfingers, Don Tortelli, etc.

4kids: That mob boss guy from, "Long Raph and cub," he came back during the City at War arc.

Archie: The Dog Star gang

IDW: We're seeing the start of more urban gang war in the series, especially with the Savate Ninja's.

I'm sure Nick will have a mob boss eventually.

The problem is that Cybercubed keeps going on about who he wants to see in the new cartoon, and it's getting very repetitive and tiring for a lot of us. So, that's why people are getting upset.

I'm just hoping that they keep the story line interesting and moving forward whether or not humans are at the center of it or not. If it brings an encounter with a gang or mobsters, so be it. The gang/mob could always have a leader that is unique and brings the human element to the series. This could make for more toys to be created, if they can make a human Hun toy, they could make a mob/gang leader toy for this new series. Although they could expand the purple dragons gang a bit more to encompass more than just a few members as they seem to be the dominate gang in the territory.
As a father, who watches the show with his sons and nephew, I can see why they stick to the mutant characters though. When a new mutant is introduced, they all want to head to the store to purchase it. I have to remind them that they have to actually MAKE the toy and have it out for sale before we can buy it. Dr. Victor Falco wasn't on that list, but surprisingly his colleague turned mutant monkey was, so mutants sell toys. Humans only give a more 'credible' story line for a mature audience to relate to.

When was Rockwell confirmed for a toy?

Kidatheart
01-28-2013, 09:01 PM
No, no.. No rockwell toy. Just stating that the kids WANTED a Rockwell Monkey toy and it was on their list of wanted potential toys, but the non-mutated human Dr. Falco they didn't want. They do now want Dr. Falco as the Rat King how ever now, but that's after mutation.
Sorry for any confusion. I was just giving my observation of my kids potential wants for toy choices of the new series.

CyberCubed

I just don't want the turtles fighting mutants or aliens all the time. We see too little of the Foot as it is, and Karai/Baxter are the only human enemies left outside Shredder.

Hun should be brought in for this reason.
