I always loved when they reference that someone is a "fan of the original comics" then we get things like "'I dig April, she's cool. She wore a yellow suit and she was a redhead." How vague and pointless is that description?

She's hot but that means jack sh*t to me. Wouldn't be great for the part. April isn't there to be expendable eye candy.

She'd look awkward as hell as a redhead. Admittedly they could do a lot better. And a lot worse. April would certainly only be used as major (skanky) fanservice if Biel really did take the role, which would be sourly disappointing.
With Michael Bay's fingerprints on this product, the role of April will likely go to someone with a 'soft-porn' image and nothing much else.

I'm kind of on the fence about this. I believe Jessica could make an interesting April, but then again I can think of atleast 3 or 4 other actresses who would be better fitted for the part.

She's attractive and can act decently. Sounds fine to me.
I don't get this notion that people need to be fans before they're 'worthy' of being in the movie.

Sadly, this does not sound far-fetched to me at all. People like their steamy, tensioned scenes and it's not as though the turtles are exactly ideal for that type of scenario. Not that I wouldn't mind Casey with some killer abs or anything (fair is fair, right?), but if all we can focus on is the 'hotness' of the humans, we have a problem.

The only constant casting suggestion I've seen around these here parts for April is Christina Hendricks. You can't tell me that is because of her great acting or anything (If you know what I am saying to you right now. Breasts). Biel is just as good of an actress IMO and she's proven she can be atleast the tiniest bit comedic.

I've heard worse ideas to be honest. Not my personal choice but they're obviously going to go with someone conventionaly attractive regardless of who is directing. That being said I hope they avoid putting her in yellow clothes throughout.

Here's a question; Why does April need to be a redhead?
There's been some commonalities but pretty much every incarnation has been vastly different in both character and her plot that she's essentialy malleable to whatever kind of TMNT story you want to tell. If people are okay with the turtles having different skin tones and bandana colours and getting weird designs with freckles and missing teeth etc I don't think it's unfeasible for April to have a different hair colour.

Personally speaking, I don't care too much whether April is "hot" or not, it's more so a matter of the fact that if someone like Biel is cast, that's all April is going to be good for, as opposed to a character with an actual personality. But hey, like I said, they could do a lot worse and a lot better than Biel, and of course nothing's set in stone yet, so I'll just wait and see.

Jessica being cast doesn't change the script. Isn't Kevin Eastman writing this thing? I don't see how an attractive women playing a part in a movie is going to change the character's role in the film. If they get an attractive Casey, is he going to be there to flaunt his muscles every 5 minutes?

Probably. But you know, it's not as though it's so black and white- attractive/hideous. There are plenty of average actors and actresses out there to choose from who aren't going to make people's eyes bleed when watching them, but won't make them feel like they're watching soft porn either.
I'm not sure why Jessica Biel would make you think of porn. It's not like she has giant fake breasts or anything.

Yeah, I saw this story on a few sites early in the week.
What's funny is that news sources describe Biel as a "fan of the original comics," but then Biel talks about how she thought April was so cool as a reporter and looked good in a yellow jumpsuit.

I don't know, you have this huge thing against Jessica Biel being April because she's "too hot to be April and gives off a porno vibe". Which I still don't get... The only person against anything here, is you. If Emma Stone was the topic instead of Jessica Biel, I highly doubt people would complain that she's not "hot" enough to be April.

Boy. Do you even know who Jessica Biel is? It's not like casting Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton here. She's perfectly capable of being dressed down and playing a character.

I really would rather her have NOT said she was a fan to be honest. What gets me is the "Oh I'm a huge fan.... she was a red head in a yellow jumpsuit. She rocked!" just comes off as an attempt to connect with fans, and comes off flat. Just say that as an actress you'd love to get the job. I'd respect you more. :P

Who cares? Heath Ledger said before he started filming Dark Knight that he was going to dig into the character of the Joker and read all sorts of comics. After the movie was filmed he admitted that he didn't touch any of them and just did a riff on Clockwork Orange and that's a Batman thing. Comic books that are actually important!
Ok that last part was me but you know what I'm getting at.

I actually kinda LOVE the idea of Jess Biel as April!
I've wanted her to play Teela in MOTU for years; April would be a stellar part for her. She can act ( I could see her playing any of the previous versions of her.), she's athletic (good for action movies), and oh, gee, she happens to be nice to look at. Oh well, it was such a great idea until then... ;)

As long as April isn't a REAL redhead, with freckles and all that jazz that April is NEVER depicted having. You know, like don't make the mistake they made with Hoag. So fugly.
Most casual fans associate April as a babe and if they can cast someone like Biel (who let's face it probably wouldn't touch this role even if it was offered) who's attractive and can do sort of an auburn hair thing without the ginger skin tone, it'd be good.

Unless she was willing to do it for no pay she stands the same chance as anyone else who shows up to the casting call. You don't just get to announce you want to do a role and get cast, in fact that doesn't seem to happen too often at all. I personally don't have any issues with her playing April but people acting on her saying she wants to do it like it means anything is silly.

I wouldn't mind Biel as April. I wouldn't say that she was a knock out actress, but I think this is a role that she could fit into.
About the red head comments above, seriously? Have you not seen Isla Fisher? If you try to tell me that she looks fugly because she has red hair and isn't perfectly tanned, you just might be too picky.

In the rejected script, yes, but Biel is 30 right now and would still fit in the age range with the "April is not a teenager" idea for the new movie. She would be a decent choice since it could be good for both the acting and the box office since she is a pretty big star.
Now, January Jones could be interesting pick with some interesting taglines, even if she may be just a little too old: "Ms. Jones falls for Casey", and "January is now April".
