Shrdder's origin

I was looking at X-Men's Silver Samurai and the Daredevil's arch-villian, the Claw. And, i was wondering if Shredder was originated from any of these two characters. Or was there a Daredevil character called "Grate Man"?

Actually, Kevin Eastman explained in the "Behind the Shells" video that when they were coming up with ideas for the characters, he had slid his arm into a rectangular cheese grater, which is where they came up with the idea for Shedder's gaunlets.

Personally, I think the creators of the original toon had Darth Vader in mind when they were making that version of Shredder...

Actually, if we can draw parallels between the force and chi. Then Shredder can use his Ninja stealth skills to not be sensed by Vader's Jedi ability to sense Shredder's presense.(Perhaps the "Jin" Kuji-In skill would help) Then all Shredder has to do is sneak up behind Vader and jam his gauntlet claws into Vader's respirator.
Alternately, Shredder can use his Taijutsu skills to disarm Vader thus denying him the Lightsaber that you mentioned. Then Shredder would have the definate advantage.
So you see It's Vader who wouldn't stand a chance.

Actually I always thought the Shredder was based on Dark Helmet. Well maybe that was the 80's Shredder I was thinking about. :D

You know, I was thinking about it, and really , i think Shredder's helmet is based on samurai's ancient helmets, and Vader 's may also have been cause it just looks way coole than a plain, say, WWII helmet, so though they may have same origin, I don't really think there is much conection.
I think Shredder would loose in a fight, as much as I adore tha guy and hate to say it, cause Vader just has more technical powers than the comic book/movie shredder,
HOWEVER!
I think the cartoon Shreddert would be an equal advesary to Vader, so it's harder to tell since they both have superior techni-stuff.
