So now that the show is out, i might as well mention the space hero's show. How do you like Leo's love for the show, any fears or hopes that came out of the last episode when you saw him watching the show? What can be done better, and most of all, how do you like the idea?
Me I personally love it. But how about you?

I wanna see more Space Heroes!! I hope there's an ep where Leo meets the crew or cast of the show.

I love the idea. Of course, I do love Star Trek...
But I like the idea. Leo became a leader with no pretense. He's starting from nothing, and he has this TV character (Let's just call him Captain Kirk, eh?) to look up to. And Leo imitating the character was pretty funny.
I think it adds a little something to Leo, a character kids might consider plain without a gimmick.

As a Trekkie (not sure why Trekker is preferred...but whatevs.) I love it. Especially since the animation style is a nod to the Filmation Star Trek Animated Series. The only issue I have is it kills the chances of the so cliched "Leo meets the actor who plays Captain Ryan and is completely disappointed." Then again...it could be a chance to poke fun at voice acting:
Leo: "Captain Ryan is a 200 lb, balding man of 80?"
Don: "Gee, that be like some 50 year old has-been voicing someone like me..."
(Ok...so it's not the best joke ever, but...)

I was pretty amused by it;)and the likeness to the filmation cartoon found a grin on my face right away, too even though I personally never entered star trek so far;)..I loved it too, because peter and kevin might get a smile out of this sicne they are big star trek fans and that was what brought this grin above my chin when I saw it...
I think fiction wise it is a pretty funny idea and as another fellow here above stated it gives us a new entry to a side of leonardo that wasn't explored too often it at all in the past..so yeah, similar to the themes in the star trek universe this idea seems to scream:off to new untouched galaxies;)

I couldn't help but think of William Shatner, it would have been awesome to have him do the Voiceover..

I would absolutely love a gag like that, I love self referential humor like that.
Actually, slightly off topic, but I was just thinking earlier today for some reason, about if there was eventually an episode where somehow the Turtles end up switching bodies. It'd be a fun little gag if Donnie ended up in Raph's body, so that Paulsen would - in a way anyway, for a short while - be voicing Raphael again.

Now when you say "body swap" are we talking "the characters voices transfer, too" body swapping or Raph has Don's body in the swap.

I do wish Space Heroes would have lazer swords though!

I'm thinking of it like their voices would swap too, yeah. So Paulsen doing Donnie's voice and attitude would be coming out of Raph's body, and Raph's voice and attitude would be coming out of Donnie's.
...Which I guess would put Mikey and Leo in the same situation, or they'd be the ones that didn't get swapped. Or something.

I hate Star Trek & stuff so I dislike the fact that my favorite character adores something I really don't care for. I don't think it's very in character of him to be obsessed with a science fiction program. I'd think he'd be more into the Book Of Five Rings, or at the very least old Kung Fu movies. Oh well.

I think it's funny. When we first saw Leo saying things like "Prepare to dish out the mighty wrath of justice!" in promos, I didn't really get it or find it particularly funny. But now we know that he's lifting those quotes directly from his favourite TV show and applying them (sometimes incorrectly) to real life situations, it makes sense.

Totally agree. I don't think Leo should be that obsessed with any sort of TV show. There's nothing wrong in him liking it, but I thought it was a bit ridiculous when he was repeating the speech on the roof before attacking Snake.
Other than that, I liked the animation style in "Space Heroes", and I'd like it to remain in the show, just not like that.

HA. Now that could prove hilarious. Hmm...this makes me imagine us having to hand-wave their poor attempts to sound like each other while around Splinter though. Or, then again, it'd probably turn out that Splinter knew and just didn't let on. He could even point out how obvious it was with the voices.
I'm liking it. I like that one part where the captain slapped that one guy who was overreacting.:tlol:
I loved the payoff of it later with Leo emulating it.:D
'...Did you just slap me?'
'I was calming you down.'
'WHY WOULD THAT CALM ME DOWN?!'

I kinda like the idea of Leonardo being a sci-fi geek here. In the 4Kids series Mikey was the comic book geek of the group, so it's sort of a refreshing change of pace from what we'd normally see. I'd also love to see an episode where Leo gets to meet the actor who portrays his idol Captain Ryan!

Thanks.:D I assume that's what the slap was referencing anyway, since it seemed to calm down the guy Captain Ryan slapped, for...some...bizarre reason...

It's fine, I really don't get why some feel just because it may be in Leo's character to be into, say, kung-fu movies or martial arts stuff in general, that it would be *against* his character to be into something like Star Trek or science fiction in general. Kids, especially teenagers, tend to have a wide variety of interests and are good at juggling them. When I was a kid growing up I used to watch Karate Kid, Ghostbusters and Batman movies back-to-back without blinking an eye, loving them all equally despite very little in common between them. All my interests had a dramatic effect on me growing up, even if one was nothing like the other.
I think because Leo is Splinter's "favorite", and that Leo tends to try and emulate Splinter and his teachings as much as possible, that it leads some to think all he's into is martial arts, meditating, and Japanese culture. I think he would be into al that stuff, definitely, but I don't see why he wouldn't have just as many hobbies or different tastes as say, Mikey does. I just think writers haven't bothered to "go there" with it, because it takes more time to explain and settle with the viewer than, say, a scene of Leo meditating or reading "Art Of War". We expect those things. But I think since, unlike Splinter, the guys were raised on American pop culture (since every version is shown to watch TV, just for starters), it makes just as much sense for any of them, even Leo, to like sci-fi or comic books just as much as they like Bruce Lee.
I do like how they're taking little ways to make each of the four a tiny bit more well-rounded than we've seen in other versions, I honestly was NOT expecting that. Leo's always been my favorite, and anytime we share interests then I'm a happy guy. It's funny because when I used to write fanfic, I had some small number of scenes revealing Leo having a slightly more than casual interest in comics and other things like that, just to show each of the four as having more varied interests than we'd seen, that was like forever ago but I still hadn't forgotten it, and I had to laugh when I saw how Nick ran essentially the same angle.
It also does give him another reason to want to grow into being a hero and a leader, other than just "He's Splinter's favorite so that's what he does." This kind of gives him his OWN reason for wanting to be all that, which again, is very true to life, even if it may not be what we expect.

I really like it.
I find it funny that Leonardo admires Captain Ryan and in real life Biggs got in trouble for making a comment about Paul Ryan's wife. Wouldn't it be funny if Captain Ryan's first name turned out to be Paul?

I'm still trying to get used to this new facet of my favourite turtle. The Leo I know and love is the cool headed, calm and charismatic leader type. But I am trying to see this current depiction as how Leo was before he grew into the character I am used to seeing in other versions of the franchise (notably Mirage, 4Kids and IDW).
So the Space Heroes gimmick, if done correctly, could have some potential for character growth for our hero in blue. :)

I love it and agree with what Leo656 posted. I think it's awesome that Leo has other interests besides training and meditating and that he wants to be like his hero on the show. I'm not into Star Trek or anything like that, but I don't have a problem with Leo liking it. It just adds something new to his character. Heck, I even wrote a fan fic about Leo wanting to be more like Captain Ryan, except his attempt isn't as successful. So, yeah, it's giving me some great plot bunnies.

I liked it because it led to a very real sibling conversation between Raph and Leo. The whole "You know this show is stupid, right?" line was such a realistic brother to brother line that it made a smile strike right out across my face. Especially since Raph was reading a comic book at the time. Clearly he doesn't think all that type of media is uncool, but he will have no problem calling out his Brother interests a stupid. The realness of the moment was perfect.
Not to mention it does bring a great facet to Leonardo's character and was hilarious to watch

That would be a lot of fun if they did it right. After all, ComicCon would be like the one place the Turtles could walk around in the open - people would just assume they were cosplayers.

I love and was really surprised by the awesome, Hanna-Barbera throwback animation style. All stiff and low-budget like that. I think they're suggesting that it's a really old show. I dunno about Leo meeting Captain Ryan, per se, but maybe Leonardo will see the voice of his big hero, all old and washed up, or something. Or maybe he's a jerk, which would be fitting and oddly reflective. Either way, I hope to see more of Leo's favourite show.
