Picking up where we left off, this time the focus shifts to Michelangelo, the only Turtle whose always used a special character voice as opposed to a mostly straight voice that is the most interesting to follow in terms of acting. And since Next Mutation has returned to the air, I'm throwing Kirby back in. Like Leonardo, Michelangelo has never been replaced or subbed in any incarnation as of today. Please vote and discuss why.

Greg Cipes for sure. I've always hated the surfer dude accent.

Sticking with my movie based bias, I vote Robbie Rist.

Townsend Coleman is the voice of my childhood.

Greg Cripes fits Nick's Mikey very well, but my overall favorite voice is definitely either the original cartoon or movie trilogy incarnation.

The Next Mutation voice was awful, and the 2007 movie voice had this nasal sound to his tone I didn't like.

4kids Mike was alright when he wasn't overreacting all his lines.

Townsend Coleman defined the character and is the reason Michelangelo is my favorite. He was level headed, fun loving, and athletic not to mention the most teenager-like of the green team. He was serious and it seems the sufer accent gets misinterpreted as a hyper active druggie and the unfortunate fact he is the most captured turtle which hurts his character portrayal beyond wave 1.

Townsend Coleman without a doubt. Without his voice to really carry the personality of Michelangelo, Michelangelo's catchphrases wouldn't have been a part of pop culture.

Had to go with Robbie Rist. I just thought his performance was the strongest and more diverse of all the incarnations. But I will say that over time, Greg Cipes has a chance of replacing Rist as my favorite. Love what he's doing on the new toon!

Why no love for Wayne Grayson

I like Wayne's Mikey the best. I think he does a great job in balancing the seriousness and the wackiness (at least in seasons 1 to 5).

We know Townsend Colemen is the classic voice to Mikey, but I really love how Greg Cipes brings his rendition to the table. However, I'll say Robbie Rist. That voice made Michelangelo so iconic, especially in the movies.:tcool:

I have to go with Townsend. I just love the California surfer vibe he brought to Michaelangelo!

I voted for Townsend Coleman. He's the Michaelangelo I grew up with. I also like Wayne Grayson, his Michaelangelo almost sounds like Townsend's. I also grew up with Robbie Rist as Jet McCabe so that helped me enjoy his Michaelangelo.

As much as I like Cipes and Rist, I gotta go with Grayson's Mikey, since I grew up with that version.

Is it just me or does Shredder's helmet look Spaceballs big in that clip?

As for VA: Robbie Rist, although I really liked Grayson's Mikey.

Robbie Rist gets my vote, since his tone contains a nice blend of surfer accent, yet sounds just serious enough to really feel like a cool dude, as Townsend's perhaps is just a little too over the top overall, though his voice suits the OT very well. Wayne Grayson sounds a bit too cocky, along with that annoying "girly scream" at the times, which Greg Cipes' also uses in addition, not to mention Cipes' lacks the positive charisma that the other Mikeys contain. Although its not listed, I find Bradford Cameron's snippet of Michelangelo from Turtles Forever having a tone that suits the Mirage Turtles well, being somewhat innocent, yet have an edge that the other Mikeys lack.

Wayne Grayson

They both made Mikey rock! Except Greg Cipes is a real life singer/guitarist. Would love to see Greg play the guitar & sing like Mikey, that would be so cool!

I'm pretty much just digging Cipes at the moment. I haven't watched much 2k3, TNM and I havent seen the 2k7 movie so I can't really judge Grayson, Morrow or Kelley. I kind of like Townsend and Rist but eh, I still voted for Cipes :3

Rist, hands down.

If Mirage Comic Mikey had a voice, I think it'd be Rist.

Greg Cripes and the sweet and innocent bubbly Mike...even if he says really dumb things a lot of the times; the voice acting is done really well.

Most of the "Surfer Dude" Mike voices are either a little annoying to me, or a lot annoying.

On the Valentine's episode of the Middle, one of Mike's employees is played by Greg Cipes. Wonder if he & Atticus Shafer ever met, since he does Fish Hooks (*Fish Hooks*).

Greg Cipes is killing it(in a good way). I find myself smiling like a kid when I hear him make certain noises or say certain things!:P

This is a tough choice for me, but in the end, I think I have to go with Rist. He was able to sell a Mikey that hit a lot more chords than most incarnations got to. He got to be funny, and did great; he got to be angry and ready to kick butt, and aced that; he even got to experience some emotional turmoil (mostly in 3 though), and did great at that too. He is without a doubt the definitive Michelangelo for me.

After that...I'd probably have to go with Cipes, simply because he's doing an amazing job thus far too. He's just awesome.

From there, it'd fall to Townsend Coleman next. He does a great job and is the iconic version of the character, but overall the voice is a little too much of a caricature in retrospect. Mikey Kelly would be next, as I feel his voice was kind of a more real take on Townsend's style, but it lacked a certain pizzazz in comparison too. Wayne Grayson would be next, as I think he did a great job too but just doesn't stand out to me compared to the others, and that leaves poor Kirby Morrow at the bottom of the barrel.

Gwahhh, I've always watched the TMNT shows and movies in French when I was younger since I didn't understand English at all!
Anyway, the only versions I listened in English were the 2k3 (recently) and the 2012.
I think Greg Cipes voice really has a teenager voice feeling, however my vote is going to Wayne Grayson, love that goofy and not annoying voice :tsmile:

While I can understand him not being on the poll due to only ever having voiced him once (in Turtles Forever), I'd have to go with Bradford Cameron as my favorite. He sounds more natural to me as opposed to just an archetype, and that really appealed to me.

Is it just me or does Shredder's helmet look Spaceballs big in that clip?

Well, to be fair -- it was cobbled together from a hodgepodge of masking tape, and pieces of crudely forged tin and other metals on account of it being crushed in the first one.

I really like Greg's, but I had to go with Robbie. While Townsend is the voice I know best from my childhood, I don't like it quite as much as an adult. I'm kind of meh on Wayne's version, to me it sounded like he was trying to be Townsend almost.

Yeah, I remember Wayne said in a interview/panel that the production team showed everyone clips of movie 1 Mikey before their audition for the character.

Random, but interesting: Lloyd was undecided whether Wayne was going to play Mikey or Don for a long time, and vice versa for Sam Regal.

One day I wonder if we'll ever get a Mikey voice that's not based on a surfer/skater/dude type accent.

Robbie Rist personified Mikey for me. I hear his voice whenever I read books, novels, or fanfic.

Townsend Coleman deserves a soft spot as I grew up with the OT.
