View Full Version : Mutagen Man Theory

Ok, so awhile back for those of us who remember, Ciro said in an interview (Which can be found here (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/2013/04/03/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-animated-series/2048617/)) that Mutagen Man was going to play a big role in season 2. As we already know, with all those mutagen canisters all around the city, there's gonna be a serious outbreak of mutants in New York. And in the latest episode, Donnie mention that he'd have to create some retro-mutagen.
So here's my theory: What if Mutagen Man is the key to stopping this mutant outbreak? Think about it, in his current state, Timothy literally is (Or soon will be) a giant, walking canister of mutagen. What if other than having the ability to create mutations, he can undo them as well? This way Tim could help the turtles defeat and "cure" the new mutants, and finally become the hero that he wanted to be.
So what do you guys think?

Perhaps this happens, but moral issues occur we he tries to do it to sapient mutants.

I mentioned a similar theory in last week's episodes discussion topic. I think that combining the ooze which Mutagen Man secretes will have a part in the eventual creation of the retro-mutagen. I also think that along the way in a very toyetic display we will see the creation of orange, yellow, purple, and green ooze which will all result in various effects on whomever is exposed to them.
In fact that could be one of the reasons that Spike mutates and becomes Slash. Donnie wanting to use him as a control by exposing him to some mutagen and Raph being against it and Donatello assuring him that based on his calculations Spike will revert back to normal as soon as he's exposed to the retro-mutagen but instead it causes him to grow the spikes on his body and also to gain the more iconic Slash colored skin.
I do like it being Timothy's way to become the hero he's always wanted to be though that is a nice addition to the idea. Though I still think that he will be reverted back to his original non-mutated state which will leave the Turtles with a finite amount of the retro-mutagen and without Mutagen Man no way to create more, that way they can have a work around as to why Splinter, Fishface, Dogpound, etc. are still mutants despite the existence of a cure.

I can see Mutagen Man being the key to de-mutate Kirby back to normal at some point. Of course you'd wonder if they can de-mutate Mutagen Man back to the Pulverizer too.

that would definitely be an awesome idea
The main plot point of the Donatello/Timothy storyline was that Donnie was ultimately responsible for whatever happened.
Since they made that so clear from the start. And they changed the character, I don't see how or why they would bring the original character back for a new season to follow since this was their intention to start.
Sadly, I think there's only one way that this arc is gonna end. :(

That's an interesting idea. And if this does come to be, and he does turn on the Turtles... well, now they have to deal with an angry tube of goo and guts that has the power to mutate AND de-mutate anything he can get his hands on.
Also, this is a nice way to update the mutagen gun.

I had that same feeling to...How far will Donnie need to go in order to right that wrong? And how will it affect him afterwards?

That is an interesting theory, and it might just be what happens. Don has to create the retro-mutagen somehow, and why not use Timothy if he's dripping in Mutagen. I honestly can't wait to see how this plays out and if this is indeed the case.

Sounds good but I think Timothy will eventually blame Don for all this if he can't be cured.

Yeah, and then he'll get all upset because Don isn't finding a cure fast enough for him.

These all sound like great ideas. What if they also decide to throw a bit of his original bio in there from the old 90's toy card? The stuff about Tim depending on the ooz to survive? Thus becoming an unwilling minion of the Foot. Sure he'll probably be the key to restoring people to human form, but I really hope that the mutagen is a sort of addictive substance for him-- for a while at least. Since there are tuns of canisters out there, it might happen but who knows? I really love the idea of Tim doing some good much better than him having to work for the bad guys in order to obtain more mutagen so that he can maintain rational thought and such. I can see Shredder or Karai attempting to use him at some point. If he does get mad at Don and starts blaming him, what if he does try switching sides? I really can't see him making such a choice but we have no idea how much in tact his mind is going to be. If the writers do decide to make the mutagen a sort of energy/sanity sorce, it could lead to him working for S and K in order to get more. Or maybe he goes out on his own in order to hunt for himself? Maybe he'll be a wild card? I hope everything turns out great for him, but my gut seems to be telling me otherwise.

Ah that Tim guy, maybe I need to rewatch those episodes but I personally found him quite annoying and stereotypical, although I was a bit sad when he mutated. I hope something good comes out of him, I really hate seeing that poor kid incased in a jar just sitting around Donnie’s lab. That said I hope he becomes a hero and an important part of the team, as long as if he isn’t nearly as annoying as he was in the first two episodes he was in!

Yeah, Tims mutation was pretty scary for a kids show. Infact, I'm surprised that Nick allows half of the stuff on the show.

But if he can un-mutated the mutants wouldn't be aslo a threat to the turtles?
Think about it: they are mutants!! So Mutagen Man may can get the temptation to turn them into regular turtles in avenging for what he has been through!

Its an interesting point. How do you cure the cure?
It would seem likely that Timothy's parents would have reported him missing. At the very least it would seem a poster with his picture with a missing caption would be seen in a street seen at some point if not on mutliple ocassions.

I thought the same thing lmao. Anyways this is an interesting theory. I can see it happening

I'm curious if they'll pull a nod to the original mutagen man and he'll eventually at least be able to appear as his original self, even if he isn't completely transformed. I think it would be great if he ended up being able to demutate the Turtles, that would make him a serious threat but I see them making him good. At least if he was good we would have a mutant outside the Turtles and Splinter be a good guy.

I hope he's eventually good and not some deranged psycho. He'll probably end up good and demutated.

Yeah, I hope the same thing. I would hate for Tim to remain a permanent villain for the Turtles.

That's a really interesting idea having Timothy be able to de-mutate whatever he oozes which could eventually end with him being cured or end with the terrifying realization that he can't be cured by the same method.
Him being a cure would explain why Don would allow him to drip ooze if that body is Don's handy work. Though it's also possible it's The Kraang or Shredder's "life support" system for him.

For some reason, I doubt that it's possible for Timothy to join the Shredder or The Kraang. As of now, he's lost most of his memories. I just hope Tim turns out okay.
By the way, why are Mutagen Man's irises smaller than usual?
